Abstract

PT. ICG is a company that handles the pipeline welding process at PetroChina Jabung Ltd. The welding process carried out is cutting, rolling, pressing and painting. The problem that occurs is that 243 defects are found from the output of 457 welding points. The types of defects after the welding process included 106 points of Root Cancellation defects, 99 points of Incomplete fusion, 29 points of Porosity, 8 points of Slug Inclusion, and 1 point of Tungsten Inclusion. This study aims to control quality by looking at the sigma value of the pipeline production process and analyzing the improvements that should be made to reduce the defects that occur. The results of the calculation of Defect Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) show that the number of welding defects that arise every one million opportunities is 174,10. The quality of the welding process in the pipeline Sabar # 2 project is at a sigma value of 2,43 with a DPMO value of 174,10. From the results of the sigma value obtained, this value is still far from the expectations of Petrochina's management to achieve a minimum sigma value of 4,0. The potential causes of weld defects include welding machines, work errors, work methods and work environment.

Abstract

The problem in this research is how to forecast HDPE pipe supply orders at PDAM Tirta Mayang Jambi using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method ?. The purpose of this study was to determine the Forecasting of HDPE Pipe Supply Orders at PDAM Tirta Mayang Jambi using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. The research method used in this research is descriptive method. According to Nazir (2011), "The descriptive research method is a method of examining the status of a group of people, an object, a condition, a system of thinking, or a class of events in the present". The research objective is used to describe or explain accurately, systematically the facts in the phenomenon under study. Through this descriptive research, the researcher aims to obtain and describe how to apply the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) inventory method in addition to the inventory method applied by PDAM Tirta Mayang Jambi City. From the analysis carried out on the HDPE pipe supply control at PDAM Tirta Mayang, Jambi City, it can be seen: (1) To forecast the need for HDPE pipe for new connections using the linear regression method. So that the total estimated number of HDPE pipes needed during 2020 is 23766 meters of pipe for one year needs. (2) The EOQ method is used to determine the number of economic orders that a company must place at 3256 meters / Order. (3) For the total cost that must be incurred by the company using EOQ is Rp. 45,448,450, while using the conventional method the company has to pay a higher cost of Rp. 88,768,650. so that it can be seen that there is a very large difference between using the EOQ method and the conventional amounting to Rp. 43,320,200, -.

Abstract

Rubber plant is one of the potential plants, the production of latex from the rubber plant is used as a raw material for making rubber bands, and the cutting process is required by a rubber band cutting machine. The purpose of the performance analysis of this rubber band cutter is to find out the cut / minute results of this machine and the machine uses a 1.5 HP electric motor with a reducer ratio of 10: 1 and get a 110 Cut / minute result and from the results of data retrieval using a thick cutting knife 5 mm on average this machine can print granules with a thickness of 2 mm. As for this machine, it will be sold at a more economical price and uses a level of electricity consumption that is not wasteful compared to machines that are already on the market.

Abstract

The blower is a device used to increase the air pressure and increase the flow rate of air and gas. In this study, the effect of the inlet and outlet valve openings of the ring blower was experimentally investigated. Variations in the inlet and outlet valve openings are 50%, 75%, and 100%, respectively. The results showed that the larger the opening of the inlet and outlet valves, the greater the flow capacity (Q). Furthermore, the larger the inlet and outlet valve openings, the lower the ring blower air flow pressure (P).

Abstract

Inorganic waste is rubbish that cannot be broken down by nature such as metals, plastics and glass. Garbage for the city of Jambi is a problem that has not been resolved to date. One example of the type of metal waste that can be managed is Aluminum such as used beverage cans. One way that technology can be developed to treat aluminum waste packaging for used beverage cans (soft drinks) is by way of recycling. The method that can be used is the hydrolysis process to produce hydrogen gas as stove fuel. The hydrolysis process is carried out by mixing Sodium Hydroxide, Aluminum, and Water. An analysis of the composition of Aluminum, Water and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) is carried out to produce maximum hydrogen gas with a fixed reactor volume. the results of research conducted obtained the volume of H volume gas formed, the highest pressure and temperature (130 l, 200 psi and 100 ° C) with the use of maximum reactants, namely aluminum from 400 g canned waste and 4N NaOH. NaOH acts as a catalyst in the aluminum reaction and water forms NaAl (OH) ₄ which releases hydrogen gas in the exothermic reaction..

Abstract

The raw material for making springs must have mechanical properties following the spring standards because the spring was receiving a dynamic load. This study aimed to improve the mechanical properties of the metal used as a material for making leaf springs. The material used is JIS SUP 9 steel which has a carbon content of 0.52-0.6%. The method used in this research is quenching and quench-tempering heat treatment. The used cooling medium was water, and the tempering temperature was at 300 °C. The mechanical properties of each specimen were tested by Vickers hardness and tensile test. The best heat treatment for material preparation is a quench-temper process, and the result was met with the manufacture of leaf spring. The findings explained that the hardness and tensile strength values were 504 HVN and 1555 N/mm2, respectively. This study could be a new insight for the leaf spring manufacture in the automotive industry.

Abstract

Teaching aids are tools used to teach and help explain the material. The teaching aids that the author makes are pneumatic system props and testing of two double acting cylinders moving simultaneously continuously. This teaching aid is made through the design stage. This teaching aid was made to serve as a learning practicum tool in the Jambi Polytechnic workshop and to conduct testing. In the final project report, the author made a pneumatic system that has the actuator motion automatically. Thus the components used to make the actuator move automatically, namely 4 manifold ports, 1 3/2 pushbutton valve, 2 3/2 roller valves, 1 5/2 double pilot valve where the air flow will be branched using a T fitting to each each cylinder, namely cylinder 1 and cylinder 2. This teaching aid has a length of 80 cm, a width of 80 cm and a height of 150 cm. All pneumatic components are mounted on pneumatic sliding boards by connecting them with pneumatic rails.

Abstract

Red chili is a food ingredient that is widely consumed and grown in Indonesia. Prices fluctuate greatly due to many factors. Post-harvest handling of chili can help farmers from losses and can maintain price stability in the market. The easiest post-harvest handling is drying. In this study, chili drying was carried out using a dryer with a rotary system. The dryer is designed in the form of a mechanical rotating drum driven by an electric motor. Hot air from LPG combustion is passed forcibly across the drum using a blower. Drying was carried out for 6 hours with a capacity of 3 kg of fresh red chilies at 60 oC, 70 oC and 80 oC. Drying at a temperature of 60 oC produces a high water content of 18.2 % with a weight loss of 80 %, the texture of the chili is still wet and soft with a bright red color. At a drying temperature of 70˚C the moisture content is quite low, namely 11.22 %, weight loss is about 87.2 %, the texture of dry chili is brightly red colored, while at a temperature of 80 ˚C the water content is low 9.1 %, the weight loss is high 90 %, dry chili texture with brown color.

Abstract

Rempeyek Ilham is one of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jambi City which is engaged in the production of tempeh peanut brittle. The increase in the capacity of the tempeh slices is done by making an automatic tempeh slicing machine using a vertical disc cutter. The slicing method is to use a crankshaft mechanism which produces a reciprocating motion with a 2-way movement direction, namely the transfersal direction and the longitudinal direction. The thickness of the wedge is regulated by a stopper with the help of a spring push mechanism. The results showed that the tempe cutting machine with a cutting time of 1 minute 37 seconds, the average number of slices obtained with a size of 2 mm was 83.8 slices and for sizes above 2 mm (2.1 mm-3 mm) as many as 68 slices, and the rest of the tempeh pieces are 5.6 cm long.

Abstract

The amount of used cooking oil is increasing along with human activities. Used cooking oil that is disposed directly into the environment will give a negative impact on health and the quality of the environment, therefore it is necessary to purify the used cooking oil so that the used cooking oil can be reused. In this study, used cooking oil that has been used with heating time of 3 hrs, 5 hrs, and 7 hrs was used. The used cooking oil was purified using activated carbon made from 100 mesh bagasse with variations in weight of 2.5 g, 5 g, and 7 g, soaking time of activated carbon in used cooking oil were 24 hrs, 48 ​​hrs, and 72 hrs. The analysis used is the analysis of water content, free fatty acid content, and the amount of saponification. The results showed that the water content and saponification rate decreased with the length of contact time and the weight of activated carbon. The lowest free fatty acid content was produced when using activated carbon 7.5 g and contact time for 24 hrs.
