Abstract

Knowledge is a fundamental aspect that can influence attitudes and behaviour in seeking parental health services and have an impact on reducing the scope of finding cases of TB in children. The eastern region of Bandung Regency is a densely populated area with a low socioeconomic level and has a high number of TB cases. Knowledge is known to be related to behavior in seeking health services and is one of the factors that influence the behavior of parents who have children with TB. This study aims to determine the relationship between socio-demographic factors that can influence parents' knowledge about TB in children. This research with a correlational descriptive design was carried out using purposive sampling with the criteria of a sample of parents who have children aged 0-14 years and are undergoing TB treatment in the eastern region of Bandung Regency in the 2020–2022-year range. The number of samples involved in this research was 54 people. The questionnaire used in this study was based on the Knowledge, Attitudes and Practice (KAP) survey guidelines developed by the World Health Organization. Bivariate data analysis was performed using contingency correlation test. Most parents already have good knowledge about TB (57.4%). Age (p=0.019) is a factor related to parents' knowledge about child TB. Unrelated factors were education (p=0.064), economy (p=0.425), and parents' occupation (p=0.272). The knowledge of parents who have children with a history of TB in the Eastern Region of Bandung Regency regarding childhood Tuberculosis is quite good. This can be influenced by aspects of education, economics, and parents' work. Health workers play a major role in increasing parental knowledge about child TB. Nurses as care givers and educators can involve parents in the process of caring for childhood TB patients and increase knowledge through education and health promotion about TB.

Abstract

Tuberculous meningitis is a life-threatening disease and can cause severe manifestations and neurological disorders. Headache is one of the symptoms that occurs in patients with tuberculosis meningitis. An 18-year-old woman was admitted with complaints of unilateral headache in the holocranial region with a description of throbbing pain on a scale of 6 (0-10), which decreases when she closes her eyes and sleeps. The pain is felt continuously and slightly interferes with activities. This case study aim to describe intervention that can reduce headache in Grade II Tuburculosis Meningitis. Nursing actions are given to minimize the pain experienced by patients with tuberculosis meningitis, namely carrying out pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain management by collaborating in giving paracetamol 500 mg and teaching non-pharmacological pain management by facilitating patient rest, teaching deep breathing relaxation. In addition, immediate treatment is needed by administering anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) and corticosteroids. Corticosteroids are given to minimize complications and death rates by suppressing the inflammatory response in the subarachnoid space. After being given care, the problem of acute pain is partially resolved so that further treatment is needed with participation of the patient and family for the success of nursing care. It is necessary to improve pain management in treating patients with TB meningitis headaches.

Abstract

Virtual Reality is a technology that can simulate a virtual environment like a real one and make it seem like if users can interact in it. The development of learning to use Virtual Reality has begun to be used as a medium for learning skills to increase students' clinical knowledge and reasoning in nursing practice, so that students can show reasonable learning satisfaction in the learning process. Student satisfaction is needed to determine the effectiveness of using VR in nursing practice. Satisfaction with using virtual reality for  student learning experiences can be evaluated using the SCSES (Student Satisfaction with Cultural Simulation Experience Scale), but there is no Indonesian language version for this instrument. This study aimed to translate and adapt the SCSES (Student Satisfaction with Cultural Simulation Experience Scale) instrument in the Indonesia context for nursing students. Methods: The SCSES translation uses the cross-sectional method and in the translation process refers to the five stages of international standard guidelines for translation. Results: The reliability and validity test of the SCSES instrument was tested on 92 Padjadjaran University nursing students. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was carried out to measure construct validity. It was found that all items of the Indonesian version of the SCSES instrument were declared valid with the value of all factor loading items > 0.50 and the Cronbach's α test was performed to measure the consistency of measurements (α = 0.964). Conclusions: The Indonesian version of SCSES has good item validity and reliability as a measure of satisfaction in cultural simulation experiences. .

Abstract

Uterine prolapse is a condition where the uterus herniates into the vagina as a result of ligament failure and fascial support. Uterine prolapse often occurs together with prolapse of the vaginal wall, which involves the bladder or rectum. menopausal women. If uterine prolapse is not treated immediately, it can cause other health problems such as bleeding which can cause severe anemia. The purpose of this study was to describe nursing care that can be carried out in patients with uterine prolapse with severe anemia. The method used is a descriptive method with a case study approach, while the instrument used is an observation format at the Bandung City Hospital and an assessment format from the Unpad Faculty of Nursing. The sample in this study was one patient with uterine prolapse with severe anemia. The nursing diagnoses found in patients are the risk of shock, acute pain, and risk of infection. The implementation provided is in the form of shock management which includes blood transfusion therapy, tranexamic acid therapy, and monitoring of vital signs. Management of uterine prolapse in the form of Kegel exercises and placing a pessary, pain management, as well as prevention of infection. As a result, it was found that there was an improvement in the Hb value from 7 gr/dL to 10 gr/dL, complaints of weakness and pain decreased, and the patient had been placed with a pessary type pessary ring with support. The existence of uterine prolapse is necessary to increase awareness to prevent the incidence of uterine prolapse and to minimize the impact that occurs due to uterine prolapse, as well as to increase patient awareness to conduct examinations to health services.

Abstract

Inserting a double-lumen catheter (CDL) in hemodialysis patients results in adverse effects, specifically pain. Pain is a disagreeable sensation caused by tissue injury involving sensory and emotional components. Pain management is a nursing care option for individuals experiencing pain. Pain can be managed by non-pharmacological methods, such as the Slow Deep Breathing (SDB) technique. This case study aims to assess the intervention for sleep-disordered breathing in patients with chronic renal disease following central venous catheter installation, focusing on acute pain nursing issues. This article used a case report style focused on a single patient in the treatment room. The effectiveness of the SDB intervention was evaluated by the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and by monitoring the patient's blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. The intervention resulted in a decrease in the NRS score from 2 to 0. Additionally, the blood pressure value decreased to normal, the pulse remained within the normal range, and there was no change in the patient's respiratory value for three days post-intervention. Expanding the use of SDB therapies to a more diverse group of patients will enhance the evidence supporting the effectiveness of these interventions.
