Abstract

Maths is one of the least popular subjects in schools. This research aims to develop an e-learning-based method of learning mathematics through a network (computer network). The e-learning method in learning mathematics is intended to deliver a series of learning solutions that can attract learning interest, and increase knowledge and skills. This research is a qualitative study that produces descriptive data with the research subjects being 30 students of SMP Amir Hamzah Medan class IX-b and 1 mathematics teacher who teaches in the class. The instrument analysis technique uses a validity test which is carried out to determine the level of measurement accuracy of an instrument used in a study. The study results are descriptive statistical test results with the ability of the characteristics of medium, high, and low results based on self-assessment and peer assessment. The utilization of e-learning can bring a new atmosphere to the development of learning to the maximum. It can provide benefits such as shortening learning time and making study costs more economical, facilitating interaction between students and materials, students can share information. They can access learning materials at any time and repeatedly.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning using a problem posing approach. This study was classroom action research conducted over two cycles. Researchers use tests of critical thinking skills and observation sheets for data collection techniques. The subjects of this study were 35 grade 8 students of SMPN 2 Candi. Data analysis techniques use a combination of qualitative and quantitative. The results of the study showed that based on the results of the critical thinking skills test, there was a significant increase in the percentage of classical completeness from the pre-action stage to cycle 1, and there was a slight increase from cycle 1 to cycle 2. In the pre-action stage, there were 68.57% of students completed, where students are said to complete if their level of mastery is in the category of sufficient or above. In cycle 1, 80% of students completed, and in cycle 2 there were 82.86% of students completed. Based on the study results, it was concluded that students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning have increased by applying the problem posing approach.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of student learning activity that affects the understanding of student concepts in mathematics learning in class XI F 4.2 SMA Veteran 1 Sukoharjo. The importance of student activity in learning needs to be done so that learning becomes interesting and students have the curiosity to learn more deeply related to the knowledge taught by the teacher, in addition, understanding the concept is one of the important factors that supports student activity in the learning process. This study aims to improve the activity and understanding of student concepts in mathematics learning using PBL based on lesson study. The subjects in this study were 27 students of class XI F4.2 majoring in social sciences. The study results showed that using the PBL learning model based on lesson study can improve the activity and understanding of student concepts in learning. Based on the study's results, the percentage of student activity increased from pre-cycle 15% and cycle 1 by 59% then cycle 2 by 100%. This is the same as the increase in student's conceptual understanding from the pre-cycle stage with a percentage of 37%, then cycle 1 by 59% to cycle 2 by 100%, so it can be concluded that using the lesson study-based PBL learning model can increase students' activeness and conceptual understanding.

Abstract

The development of Scratch-based Math Case interactive learning media uses the Research & Development method which produces an interactive learning media that can be accessed without using an application. The aim of this study was to ascertain the developmental process, validity, and practicality of Scratch. This study employs the ADDIE development model, comprising 1) Analysis, 2) Design, 3) Development, 4) Implementation, and 5) Evaluation. The subjects of this study were students of class V-A at SDN 004 Samarinda Ulu and 1 teacher of class V-A. The result of this research is Scratch interactive learning media in the form of links that can be used without using the application. This media has been tested for validity and practicality by several experts and responses from research subjects. The validity assessment from linguists scored 86% in a very decent category, the validity assessment from material experts scored 84% in a very decent category, and the validity assessment from media experts scored 86% in a very decent category. Practicality assessment was carried out through small-scale and large-scale trials. The practicality of small-scale trials on students obtained an assessment of 83% with a very feasible category. The practicality of large-scale trials on students obtained an assessment of 87% with a very feasible category and the practicality of large-scale trials on educators obtained an assessment of 96% with a very feasible category. Based on these stages, this Scratch media can be used in the classroom as an interactive learning media.

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the subjects taught in formal educational institutions, which is an important part of efforts to improve the quality of education. Students' adaptive reasoning ability in mathematics is reflected through their critical, logical, and systematic thinking, and their objective, honest, and disciplined nature in solving problems, whether in mathematics, other subjects, or daily life. This study aims to evaluate the adaptive reasoning ability in mathematics of middle school students. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 14 students from SMPIT Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah Karawang, grouped into five levels: very high, high, medium, low, and very low. Data were collected from the tests on adaptive reasoning ability in mathematics to understand the students' reasoning abilities. Scores were given to students who answered each question based on the indicators achieved. The highest percentage was obtained on the indicator of forming conjectures, at 48.21%, while the lowest rate was 3.57% on the indicator of finding patterns in a mathematical phenomenon. Overall, the average results for each indicator were: Indicator 1 - 48.21%, Indicator 2 - 26.79%, Indicator 3 - 35.71%, Indicator 4 - 8.93%, and Indicator 5 - 3.57%. Therefore, the average percentage of student achievement in answering the adaptive reasoning ability test in mathematics was 24.64%. It can be concluded that middle school students' mastery of adaptive reasoning ability in mathematics is categorized as low.

Abstract

Mathematics is very concerned with understanding concepts in the process of working. There are still many students who are constrained in understanding the concept of a material because learning is a little monotonous and lacks dance, this has an impact on the low learning outcomes of students in mathematics. This study was conducted to see whether the QuizWhizzher application media could have a positive influence on student learning. This research was conducted in class VII.6 SMP IT Madani Islamic School Payakumbuh with the type of research that is a combination of quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative data is obtained from students' learning outcomes, starting from the pre-test and post-test. Qualitative data is obtained by describing the data obtained quantitatively and also explaining whether there is a positive influence or not. The results of this study indicate an increase in student learning outcomes in the Pythagorean Theorem material with an average of 81.67, so it can be said that QuizWhizzer is effectively used to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to produce a Mathematics Module based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on sequence and series material for grade XI SMA Negeri (State High School) Semangus that is valid, practical, and has potential effects. The research method uses the stages of the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and tests, with the research subjects including validators (linguist experts, material experts, and media experts), mathematics teachers, and students of class XI SMA Negeri Semangus. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that Aiken's V value from the experts obtained a total of 0.90 with a very valid category. In the practicality test, educators and students obtained an overall of 90.16 in the very practical category. The results of the potential effect test through tests given to 30 students showed that 26 students (86.7%) were in the completed category and 4 students (13.3%) were in the incomplete category. So it can be concluded that the PBL mathematics module developed in this research is declared valid, practical, and has potential effects.

Abstract

One of the reasons why the multiplication learning outcomes of grade 4 students at SD Negeri 03 Kedungleper are low is because the students' understanding of the multiplication material is poor. This research aims to determine the relationship between the use of the Jarimatika method using papet media before and after, as well as how much influence this method has on the learning outcomes of grade 4 elementary school students. This research is quantitative research that uses an experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The place where this research was conducted was SD Negeri 03 Kedungleper. The research population was grade 4 students, and the sample was 19 grade 4 students. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation techniques. From the results of the t-test analysis, it can be seen that the use of the Jarimatika method with papet media has a significant influence on the multiplication learning outcomes of grade 4 students at SD Negeri 03 Kedungleper. The calculated t value of 8.732 is greater than the t table value of 1.734, indicating that there is a very significant influence. It has been proven to be an appropriate learning method to help students master multiplication material, as evidenced by student learning outcomes which have increased by 40%. Before this method was used, the average student pretest score was 49.79. After this method was implemented, the average post-test score increased to 80.42. This 40% increase means that students show significant improvement in mastering multiplication material after using the Jarimatika method with paper media, compared to the previous teaching method.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics is a study that explains the relationship between culture and mathematics. Ethnomathematics is applied as a means to motivate, stimulate, overcome saturation, and give a new feel to mathematical learning. One of the cultures that can be studied with ethnomathematics is the mosque. This study aims to learn mathematical concepts and explore ethnomathematics in the building of the Grand Mosque of Baitul Hakim Kota Madiun, the explored building, namely the dome of the mosque. This qualitative research uses an ethnographic approach with data retrieval using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The research was conducted at the Grand Mosque of Baitul Hakim City of Madiun with 3 subjects being mosque administrators (secretariat admin, takmir, and marbot). The results of the research were obtained from mathematical concepts and ethnomathematics activities at the Grand Mosque of Baitul Hakim. The mathematical concept obtained is the geometric concept related to the flat construction of isosceles triangles, isosceles trapezoids, ellipses, and limas space structures. The ethnomathematics activity obtained is the activity of measuring and enumerating. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is ethnomathematic activity and there are mathematical concepts in the Grand Mosque of Baitul Hakim Kota Madiun that can be used as a learning resource by educators.

Abstract

Contextual problem-solving abilities are very much needed in processes in the 21st-century era and can be done by providing meaningful experiences. This can also be called Outdoor Learning, namely involving students directly in the learning object. One application that can help learning outside the classroom is MathCityMap. This research raises the context of using ethnomathematics-based MathCityMap located at Sindu Kusuma Edupark. Sindu Kusuma Edupark is an educational tourist attraction located in Sleman, Yogyakarta. This research aims to develop students' contextual problem-solving abilities in mathematics learning using the MathCityMap application at the junior high school level. This research uses a type of development research called Research and Development (R&D). The method in this research refers to the 4D method which consists of 4 stages: definition, design, development, and dissemination. The results of this research are a series of learning activities using the MathCityMap application in the context of the Sindu Kusuma Edupark tourist attraction which colleagues have tested. The average assessment result is 80.5% with the feasible category. Based on these results, it was concluded that the MathCityMap activity developed by this researcher could be implemented in mathematics learning.
