Abstract

This study discusses to examine the phenomenon of political communication during the presidential and vice-presidential elections in 2019. From cases that occur during the campaign period, there are often symptoms of lack of argumentation, lack of credibility, and lack of ability to communicate through debate. This research uses The Functional Debate Campaign theory stated by William, L. Benoit. It is including the use of research methods and analytical techniques developed by Benoit. From the results of this study it is known that all candidates for President and Vice President mostly direct their political discourse into policy rather than turn up their characters, but in conveying their political messages still have shortcomings from verbal and nonverbal aspects. Whereas in terms of functional strategy it is considered to be sufficient because it has used several techniques, but it has not been evenly displayed by all candidates. There is also a weakness that appears in all candidates seen from the debate strategy which is less able to build good acclaim to build election by candidates by trying to attack and defend when attacked. The implications of the research on this candidate's debate, show that the use of candidate debates on television as a political communication forum was attracted the media and voters, however, it has not yet an ideal primary means for voters to see the credibility and capability of the prospective leader.

Abstract

This study aims to critique and evaluate the church's functionality, namely the church in its social function. The Toraja Church is still not here to carry out its real social function. As a result, various kinds of social injustice that are produced from culture settle right within the sphere of the church. The church exists only as a producer of the imagination: directing the imagination, without fixing problems on earth. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature observation approach. As a basis, the theory used in this research is Karl Marx's socio-religious criticism theory. The essence of this criticism is not rejection of religion, but rejection of religious practices which merely produce illusions, so as not to solve the problems experienced by society, especially Christians, as a result, society becomes alienated. The Toraja Church is required not to solve problems through imagined solutions, but instead to bring concrete liberating solutions in society. The church should be a real medicine where there is a sick soul due to the chaos of the world. With the revival of church functionality, the church has become a strong fortress for the community towards peace.

Abstract

Indonesia focuses high attention on the educational aspect. This can be seen from the education system that is always being updated to keep up with the times. However, several social realities in Indonesia today show that on the other hand the moral crisis is also increasing. This certainly becomes a lameness in the world of education, especially in character education which is predicted as an idea that is able to create Indonesian national character. The journey of character education should be expected to be able to minimize the moral crisis but is still ignored. Character education is considered to be only the task of the school world, when in fact the social environment also plays a very important role in helping carry out character education in society. This is the dynamic in character education today. Whereas character education has actually been carried out by our forefathers and has been passed down through generations through the proverbial life, norms and customs which in cultural studies are known as Folklore. Examining and analyzing the dynamics of character education from the results of previous writings that focus on the study of cultural and educational psychology.
