Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between family support, drug side effects, knowledge, and patient attitudes with tuberculosis treatment compliance at Dr. R. Soeprapto Cepu Hospital. The research employs a descriptive quantitative design using a cross-sectional method. A total of 165 respondents were selected through purposive sampling based on specific inclusion criteria. Data collection was carried out using structured questionnaires, and the results were analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test. The findings demonstrated a substantial correlation between family support (p = 0.003), drug side effects (p = 0.015), patient attitude (p = 0.001) and treatment adherence. However, knowledge did not show a significant relationship with adherence (p = 0.433). These results indicate that although knowledge is an essential factor in health behavior, it may not directly influence a patient's commitment to completing tuberculosis treatment. In conclusion, family support, medication side effects, and patient attitudes play a crucial role in improving tuberculosis treatment compliance. Healthcare providers should focus on strengthening family involvement, managing side effects effectively, and fostering positive attitudes in patients to enhance adherence rates. Further research is recommended to explore other potential factors affecting compliance, such as socioeconomic status, healthcare accessibility, and psychological aspects.

Abstract

Maternal mortality rate is key indicator of maternal and child health services. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), maternal mortality remains high. Preconception care plays a crucial role in addressing this issue, ensuring women’s health before pregnancy. Based on Continuity of Care concept, continues midwifery care during the premarital preconception period allows health workers to monitor and support women, promoting planned pregnancies under optimal conditions. This study aims to identify the need for application-based continuity of care for at-risk preconception women planning pregnancy in Sleman Regency. Using a mixed-method method approach, it combines qualitative phenomenological research with quantitative Research and Development (RD). Findings indicate that support for at risk preconception couples remains suboptimal. Although there is collaboration between health workers and Religious Affairs Offices, further optimization is needed to enhance awareness and monitoring. To address this gap, the MEMBUMI SEHAT application was developed to provide integrated services, offering comprehensive medical information and recommendations. This tool aims to improve continuity of care, reducing complication for both the mother and fetus. The study highlights the importance of implementing health policies that prepare couples for pregnancy. The MEMBUMI SEHAT app is feasible for supporting at-risk preconception couples by providing continuous, accessible, and informative care.

Abstract

The Youth Red Cross (PMR) is a pioneer in the field of health in schools, which can play a role in assisting victims if they need Basic Life Support (BLS). The level of knowledge and skills of PMR members is significantly lacking regarding BLS actions, while victim handling and BLS actions require knowledge and skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of BLS Health Education on the Level of Knowledge and Skills of PMR Members at MAN 2 Kota Madiun. This research method is one group Pretest-Posttest with Wilcoxon sign rank analysis test. The intervention of this study was health education using PowerPoint media, booklets, and audiovisual. Before the intervention 19% had a good level of knowledge and after the intervention, 81% had a good level of knowledge with p=0.00. The skill level before the intervention was 0%, with no participants having a good skill level, 65% had a good skill level with p=0.00. The results of statistical tests show that there is an effect of BLS Health Education on the level of knowledge and skills of PMR members. Health Education with Audiovisual, PowerPoint, and Booklet can increase knowledge and skills in BLS Action because this method is an effective learning method that is easy for someone who receives the material. This media can be used for further research.

Abstract

Aging is a natural process that every human undergoes, marking the final phase of life. Common issues among the elderly include declining sleep quality and fluctuations in blood pressure, which can significantly impact overall health. Research has shown that exercise combining movement with easily listenable music can positively affect blood pressure, improve sleep quality, and enhance balance in older adults. This study aims to analyze differences in blood pressure, sleep quality, and balance in the elderly following an exercise intervention. An institutional-based intervention design was used, providing integrative traditional exercise therapy to elderly groups in Pangkalpinang City. A total of 50 elderly participants were selected based on predetermined criteria and divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group participated in an 8-week traditional exercise program called Senam Bedincak, a local exercise from Bangka Island, while the control group continued their usual activities. Post-intervention assessments measured sleep quality, blood pressure, and balance using questionnaires and observation sheets. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed that the independent t-test for sleep quality resulted in a p-value of 0.000 (p 0.05), indicating a significant difference before and after the intervention in the experimental group.

Abstract

Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a common but often undiagnosed neurological disorder, characterized by an urge to move the legs accompanied by uncomfortable sensations, especially during rest at night. This condition is common in the elderly, disrupts sleep, and negatively impacts mood, energy, and quality of life, especially in nursing home residents. This study investigated the relationship between Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) and quality of life in the elderly living in nursing homes. The research design was cross-sectional, with a consecutive sampling technique. The independent variable in this study was the severity of RLS measured using the IRLSSG questionnaire. Higher scores of IRLSSG and SF-36 indicated severe RLS and better QoL. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman correlation test to assess the relationship between RLS and quality of life. The sample used in this study was 70 participants, calculated using G power software. The results showed that the average age of the participants was 75.41 years, with the majority of participants being women. Most participants experience mild RLS (67.14%). Statistical tests showed a significant negative association between RLS and QoL, specifically in the bodily pain (BP) domain, with a p-value of 0.04 and r= - 0.2465, which means increasing RLS will increase BP. Participants experienced mild pain, while 24.29% reported moderate pain, and 8.57% experienced severe pain. Statistical tests showed p value of 0.05, which indicates a significant relationship between the severity of RLS and quality of life. RLS has a significant impact on the quality of life in the elderly. Therefore, healthcare providers need to recognize and manage RLS symptoms to improve the overall well-being of this population. For further research, researchers need to consider additional factors such as comorbidities and social support, and implement interventions to reduce RLS symptoms.

Abstract

To improve service quality, hospitals in Indonesia are required to undergo accreditation organized by SNARS. This process demands systematic documentation of patient care and service data. However, many documents are often not reported or recorded properly, which necessitates an effective management system. The Accreditation Documentation Management System (ADMS) is an IT-based tool designed to manage accreditation documents efficiently and is operated daily by the designated Person in Charge (PIC). At Pelita Insani Hospital, the use of ADMS for data reporting remains suboptimal due to several influencing factors. The purpose of this research was to examine the factors that influence the obedience of PIC at Pelita Insani Hospital. This research used cross sectional design. Population were all of the PIC at Pelita Insani Hospital, 150 persons. The sample were collected by proportional random sampling. The total sample of this research were 130 respondents. The dependent variable was the obedience. The data were collected by questionnaire and observation. The data were analized using multiple linear regression with significance level p 0,05. The result showed that there were influence between knowledge (p = 0,000), motivation (p = 0,000) and workload (p=0,043) toward the obedience of  PIC to report data with Accreditation Document Management System however, facilities did not significantly influence the compliance of the Person in Charge (PIC) in reporting using the Accreditation Documentation Management System (p = 0.902). It can be conclude that there were significant effect of knowledge, motivation and workload toward the obedience of  PIC to report the data with Accreditation Document Management System Based on these findings, hospital management is advised to enhance PICs’ knowledge, motivation, and manage their workload to improve compliance in ADMS reporting. Additionally, upgrading facilities and infrastructure may also support better reporting outcomes.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by uncontrolled hyperglycemia, which disrupts peripheral blood flow due to the accumulation of sugar products in the blood, disrupting nerve impulse transmission and damaging blood vessel walls. One way to improve blood circulation in the legs is through the Buerger Allen Exercise, using the ankle-brachial index as an assessment indicator. This study employed a problem-solving method with a nursing care approach. The author employed a descriptive technique, highlighting the patient's facts and circumstances. After the Buerger Allen Exercise nursing intervention, Mrs Y's ABI increased from 0.79 (moderate) on day 1 to 1.0 (normal) on day 5. After nursing intervention with Buerger Allen Exercise, the ABI value increased. With the increase in the ABI value, peripheral perfusion also increased followed by the achievement of the desired outcome criteria. So the problem of ineffective peripheral perfusion nursing in Mrs Y was resolved. It can be concluded that Buerger Allen Exercise can increase ABI values in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with ineffective peripheral perfusion nursing problems.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) refers to an infection targeting the human respiratory passages, predominantly affecting children between the ages of 1 and 5 years. Improperly managed ARI condition can result in worsening nutritional conditions, secondary infections, stunted growth, and development. The family plays an important role in efforts to prevent ARI and its complications. When the family gets better at Providing family health services, the level of ARI that occurs in the family becomes less severe. The current study investigates the link between family health tasks and severity of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI). An observational approach was utilized in this study with a retrospective design. The activities were conducted during the period June-August 2022 at the Dinoyo Community Health Center, Malang City. Purposive sampling was used resulted in 57 samples experiencing ARI. The instruments for both variables were assessed through questionnaires The hypothesis was tested using a chi-square test. The result show mothers who had poor family development tasks had a severity level of severe ARI of 38.6%; mothers in charge of family development had mild ARI in 15.8% of cases and moderate ARI in an estimated 22.8% of cases. The results obtained from the Chi-Square Test have a p-value = 0.000. This study reveals a significant correlation between family task performance and ARI severity in toddlers. Mothers who demonstrate poor achievement in family developmental tasks are more likely to have children experiencing higher severity of ARI.
