Abstract

Kidung Walisanga is a collection of Indonesian cultural heritage famous with Dhandang Gendis/Dhandang Gula. Dhandang ghendis Kidung Artati was authored by Walisanga as a medium of education and Islamic call that emphasizes the cultural basis of people as the objects. This is a kind of tasawuf education that consists of three elements: (1) concept of human being life journey, (2) journey to a perfect life, and (3) achieved result. The first two elements are got by mediation medium to utilize a pure energy in reaching a psychological effect, i.e. a purified sole and peaceful heart. While the third, emphasizes on pragmatic uses such as self protection from dangers and possessing supernatural heirloom. From linguistic perspective, kidung emphasizes on sanepan (metaphor) style. While from art perspective, it has a creative, individualization, and harmonization elements. From philosophical perspective, it has axiological values emphasizing pragmatic uses in the world. Beside all of that, there is an important element of tasawuf which is not included in kidung, i.e. guide role. Kidung, finally, is walisanga’s cultural approach model in education and Islamic call which is primarily based on community cultural basis, thus, kidung nuance shows a style fcultural Islam.

Abstract

Business transactions are not always valid and often having wrong appearance. Gharar which tends to reflect uncertainty and construct injustice is categorized as invalid transaction. When the gain is uncertain and profit or lose are biased for one party side, the risk is appearing. Each transaction containing win-lose element, win in one side and lose in another side, is invalid and leads to haram consumption. In the financial transaction, the existence of gharar and risk is mainly caused by imperfect information (jahalah), of course there are other factors, in this regard, gambling element becomes a genuine characteristic in that transaction. This gambling element is very potential to create risk for all parties in the transaction. Indeed, risk is definitely unavoidable but it can be managed and controlled. As the result, risk management is an important way to control and reduce any possible risk.

Abstract

Al-Jabiri’s thought renewal project focuses on epistemological critics on scientific traditional framework of Arab-Islam. This is done by analyzing sociopolitical background of the formulation process and structure of Arab-Islam’s logical reasoning, and the entire structural working mechanism of Arab’s logical reasoning. According to Al-Jabiri, Arab’s logical reasoning can be classified into three, i.e. bayani, Irfani and burhani. Bayani is a pure Arab’s logical reasoning as it is motivated by cognitive factor to interpret religious texts. Irfani becomes an alternative epistemology for bayani in providing convincing conclusions. While Burhani, is logical reasoning based on rationality. However, even though the Arab’s logical reasoning could be distinguished into those three, Al-Jabiri observes the domination of bayani on others, thus, the text and traditional authorities are always dominating Arab-Islam civilization. Consequently, Arabic Civilization is not creative-productive or poor in concepts and theories. The solution AlJabiri proposes is to apply critism spirit that have been developed in AndalusiaMaghrib, i.e. empirical rationale presented by Ibn Hazm and Al-Syatibi in Fiqh, Ibnu Ruysd in Philosophy, Ibnu Khaldun in sociology, and Ibn Madha alQurthubi in Arabic grammatical renewal.

Abstract

This paper discussed the encounter of Indonesian Muslims toward the idea of secularism. Secularism since its rise in Europe in the 18th century has spread all over the world. Supporters of secularism have assumed that secularism is undeniable. People eventually will hold it and apply it in their life, including in the public space. However, in the context of the relationship between Islam and state in Indonesia, secularism thesis has been proven failed. During the Indonesian history, the relationship between Islam and state has been a hot discourse even until recently. Yet, this paper concluded that one thing is clear; Indonesian people, especially Indonesian Muslims, have rejected secularism. In the meantime, some have rejected theocratic state either. Muslims then have endlessly endeavored to reformulate a viable synthesis on the relationship between Islam and state in Indonesia. What Indonesia has now is among the efforts of Indonesian Muslims to have a better formulation on how Islam plays its role in the public space, including in the political sphere.

Abstract

The philosophers and theologians for a long time, have been conducting a series of intense discourse on many issues from the perspective of tasawuf. Of course, in this regard, they use a theoretical basis and practical rationale. This article, describes the discourse above in the two different conversations perspective, between tasawuf Sunni and tasawuf falsafi. Tasawuf sunni group are represented by Al-Ghazali and al-Qushayri, confronted by Ibn Arabi and Ibn Sab’in from tasawuf falsafi group. Through a descriptive exploratory study, the researcher asserts that Al-Ghazali divides tauhid into four, tauhid of hypocrites, Muslims majority, muqarrabin, and siddiqin, all are based on ahl sunnah wa alJama’ah faith. While Al- ushayri, divides it into three; tauhid al-haq li al-haq, tauhid al-haq li al-khalq, and tauhid al-khalq li al-haq, all are based on empirical aspects of Irfani. In his study, the author concludes that tasawuf Sunni, focuses mainly on the issue of al-fana and wihdah al-syuhud in order to reach a peak of makrifah. Meanwhile, taswuf falsafi declares the existence of monoexistence, that is, human beings and God is one, similar to (wihdah al-wujud). Man is united with God expressed usually in the form syatahat. The implication is no taklif for humans.

A theory on naskh which develops grantedly in the Islamic sciences, naturally raises a controversy, which indicates that this concept is arguable and discussable. On the other hand, contemporary muslim scholars have solved significantly on this controversy. This article tries to present some problems of naskh in relation with the Holy Al-Qur’an. Among the problems discussed in this regard is a controversy on the meaning of naskh, particularly in the development of Interpretation of Quranic verses in relation to the development of Islamic jurisprudence. The view of muslim scholars and their argumentation to approve the nasikh-mansukh in the Al-Qur’an is also another point to be presented which argued by the view of contemporary Muslim scholars who criticize this concept. Finally, it is concluded that a theory on naskh is contemporary issue which is exaggerated and developed not on the basis of an adequate scientific criticism, therefore, muslim ummah should consider this problem as a logical consequence of the topic (al-tah} ayyuz al-mawdhû‘iy).

Abstract

The depiction of Mulla Sadra’s philosophy could be best out by referring to his magnum opus, al-Hikmah al-Muta’aliyah, usually referred to as al-Asfar alArba’ah. The book contains almost all aspect of philosophy such as theory of essence and existence, subtance, movement, time, world order, knowledge, intellect and the likes. In addition, being Muslim peripatetic, he also gives special interest on the demonstrating the concept of God and eschatology. The summary below could hopefully be instrumental for paying particular interest in further studying Mulla Sadra thought for academic pusposes. The point interest, however, is to be found in his repudiation againts Ibn Sina’s concept of Essence and Existence. Whereas Ibn Sina vindicates the essence rather than existence, Sadra gives priority to existence rather than essence. Not only has Mulla Sadra differed from Ibn Sina and other Muslim peripatetic on the issue of essence and existance, but also on the problem of substance, movement, time.
