Abstract

The incidence of thymoma increases with age, generally occurs in the 40-60s. Thymoma cases are rare at a young age. The prevalence of thymoma at a young age is very small at 0.6 – 5% of all thymoma cases. Thymoma management requires multimodality therapy depending on the stage of the thymoma, along with the development of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the past three decades. A 21-year-old male patient with complaints of shortness of breath since 5 months before being admitted to the hospital. The patient has been diagnosed with thymoma type Mediastimum Tumor Type B1 T4N2M1B stage IVB from the results of chest X-ray investigations, chest CT scan, bronchoscopy and histopathological examination. The patient has received various therapeutic modalities including 6 cycles of chemotherapy, 30 radiotherapy and thymectomy surgery

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the interaction of the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer on banana weevil and chitosan on the growth and yield of long beans. This study used a completely randomized design, with 2 factors. The first factor is banana weevil liquid organic fertilizer consisting of 3 levels, namely, 0 ml/L, 45 ml/L, and 90 ml/L. The second factor was chitosan consisting of 3 levels, namely, 0 ml/L, 3 ml/L, and 6 ml/L. Based on the experimental results, it can be concluded that there is an interaction between liquid organic fertilizer of banana weevil and chitosan with the parameters of plant length and number of branches. Increasing the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer on banana weevil can increase the number of pods and the weight of fresh pods per plant, the highest fresh pod weight per plant is 1.20 kg/plant with a concentration of 90 ml/L. The administration of chitosan concentration only affected the number of pods parameter, the highest number of pods was in the provision of 6 ml/L, namely 55.55 pods/ plant.

Abstract

The increasing pollution of toxic heavy metals in the environment is an important issue worldwide. Heavy metal ions such as mercury have attracted special attention because of their high toxicity and long half-life which increase the potential to accumulate in the food chain and cause serious damage to the environment. The potential of an adsorbent durian (Durio zibethinus) seed immobilized alginate bead was carried out and used for the adsorption of Mercury in an aqueous solution. Adsorbents were characterized by FTIR, SEM, and XRF. FTIR analysis shows the functional groups of alcohol, amine, and carboxylic acid. Scanning Electron Microscopy shows that the surface morphology of durian seed powder of granules and durian seed immobilized in Ca-alginate of like as tissue eggs in an egg box shape. XRF analysis durian seed immobilized showed that Hg(II) ion adsorbed as much as 37%. The adsorption parameter of Hg(II) ion are pH at 6 with an adsorption capacity was 1.553 mg/g, contact time at 150 minutes with adsorption capacity was 2.880 mg/g, mass 0.1 g with adsorption capacity of 2.274 mg/g, and concentration 250 mg/g with adsorption capacity of 62.067 mg/g.

Abstract

This classical regression model is designed to handle the relationship between stationary variables and should not be applied to non-stationary series. A time series data is said to be stationary if the mean, variance, and covariance remain constant over time. The problem associated with non-stationary variables, and often encountered by researchers when dealing with time series data, is spurious regression. A clear indicator of false regression is the low Durbin-Watson statistic but has a higher coefficient of determination (R2). Therefore, before doing modeling or forecasting using time series data, it is very important to do a stationary test. In this study, we use inflation data in the City of Bukittinggi from January 2014 to December 2019 as a case study. The data shows an uptrend and correlated error terms. Empirical results show that inflation data in Bukittinggi City is a stationary series.

Abstract

Mathematical modeling of procrastination was carried out on students in the Mathematics Department at Universitas Negeri Padang. Procrastination is the tendency to delay work and can be contagious among students. Mathematical modeling of procrastination aims to show the spread of procrastination among students. The SEIR compartment model was applied in this study. From a total of 1,154 population members, 93 samples were randomly selected and were given a questionnaire to estimate the parameter values in the model. A couple of steady states appear in the model. The free disease steady state has a biological meaning since all the variables are real, while the endemic steady state is surreal in biological terms. The number of its basic reproduction number, from which the parameter values are derived from the primary data, indicates stability analysis near the free disease steady states. The result shows that procrastination is spread among students in the population, with the number of Ro is 1,009.

Abstract

In this paper, we compare the optimal portfolio weight of mean-variance (MV) method with mean-variance-skewness-kurtosis (MVSK) method. MV is a method to get weight on a portfolio. This method can be developed into the method of MVSK with attention to the higher-order moment of return distribution; skewness and kurtosis. In determining the weight of portfolio is also important to consider the skewness and kurtosis of return distribution. This method of considering the aspect of skewness and kurtosis is called the MVSK method with the aim of maximizing the level of return and skewness and minimizing the risks and exceeding of kurtosis. The result indicate that the optimal portfolio return of all methods is MVSK method with minimize variance priority.

Abstract

Phasey bean (Macroptilium lathyroides) and siratro (Macroptilium atropurpureum) are introduced legumes that become a common species in pastureland. The nutritional content of these legumes has been explored, but on the contrary the anatomical study. The anatomical trait, especially in leaf epidermal, have been used to increase the understanding in taxonomy. This study aimed to investigate the leaf epidermal variability among phasey bean and siratro. The method used longitudinal section for upper and lower epidermal, then stained in safranin 0,1%. The results show that the upper epidermal in phasey bean have polygonal epidermal cell, while the lower part and the both part of siratro have irregular-shaped. The type of stomata in upper epidermal of phasey bean is paracytic and the lower epidermal is paracytic and anomocytic. Both epidermal sides in siratro have paracytic and anomocytic stomata. The index of stomata in phasey bean is higher than the siratro, but the index of trichomes in phasey bean is lower than siratro. The trichomes only absent in upper epidermal of phasey bean. Both plants have a similar types of trichomes: capitate glandular trichomes and linear non-glandular trichomes.
