Abstract

Hendri J, Saidi BB. 2020. Effect of land amelioration on growth and rice production paddy field affected by sea water intrusion. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Irrigated rice field land conversion to other non-agricultural purposes in Java still is still ongoing and it is inevitable. It has been seriously given negative impact for national rice supply. One of the alternatives to overcome the issue is to perform rice field land expansion through new rice field construction off Java. In Jambi Province, 2010-2017, 13,855 ha of rice fields had been constructed, covering of 2,364 ha of West Tanjung Jabung district partially occupies a tidal area. However, its development and management into productive land has been hampered including by soil salinity due to sea water intrusion resulting in an increase of salt content, which can cause nutrient deficiency and even plant poisoning. The objective of the research was to find out the effect of land amelioration on rice growth and its production on new constructed rice fields, which are affected by sea water intrusion. The research site was in Sungai Nibung Village, West Tanjung Jabung District, during 2018. The research applied a randomized block design with five land amelioration treatments with four reiterations. Land amelioration applied lime, manure, nitrogen, rock phosphate (RP) and potassium fertilizers. The results showed treatment of 2.5 t/ha manure, Urea 200 kg/ha, RP 200 kg/ha and KCl 100 kg/ha could give 24.66 tillers and the highest yield of 2.92 tons/ha.Konversi lahan sawah beririgasi untuk keperluan non pertanian lain di Jawa masih terus berlangsung dan tidak bisa dihindari.

Sandi S, Yosi F, Pratiwi S, Elisahara E, Sari ML, Riswandi R, Asmak A. 2020. The effect of wuluh starfruit leaves solution in different concentration to the physical quality of pegagan duck eggs. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The decrease internal of egg quality during the storage period happened because of the waste air cavity caused by evaporation of CO2 andH2O.  To add more time of the egg storage period, it needs additional natural preservatives such as tannin, to block the evaporation process.  The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of wuluh starfruit leaves solution in different concentration to the pH, albumin index, and yolk index of the Pegagan duck eggs.  The study was conducted on March 2018 at Animal Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University.  This study used 72 Pegagan duck eggs and 180 grams of wuluh starfruit leaves.  The experimental variable observed were egg pH, albumin index, and yolk index.  This study was assigned in a Completely Random Design, which consists of 4 treatments and 6 replications.  The treatments are solution with 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3% (w/v) concentration with length of storage for 14 days.  Data were subjected to analysis of variance and significantly different followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5%.  The results showed that the level of wuluh starfruit solution up to 3% concentration had no significant effect (>0,05) to the pH, albumin index, and yolk index of the Pegagan duck eggs.

Nursanty N, Saputra D, Santoso B, Sugiarty Y. 2020. The effect of addition of STPP (Sodium Tripolyphospate) on decreasing oxalic acid levels in taro starch. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Taro has the potential to be developed into an alternative food source due to its high nutritional content but the presence of a toxic ingredient in the form of oxalate in the tubers which can cause itching on the skin, mouth and throat. Oxalates come in two forms, namely oxalic acid and calcium oxalate. This study aims to determine the effect of STPP (Sodium Tripolyphospate) Cross-Linking on reducing levels of oxalic acid in modified taro starch. The design used in this study was a factorial randomized design with one factor. The treatment consisted of 4 levels and each treatment was repeated three times. Treatment consisted of the STPP concentration (B0 = 0%, B1 = 0.5%, B2 = 1%, B3 = 1.5%). The parameters observed were oxalic acid levels. The results of the analysis showed that the difference in the starch concentration of STPP had a significant impact on decreasing the level of oxalic acid in taro starch. The levels of oxalic acid were 11.35% at 0% STTP treatment, 7.98% at 0.5% STTP treatment and 5.04% at 1% STTP treatment and 1.5%. From the data obtained, it can be seen that the more STTP concentrations are added, the lower the oxalic acid levels in taro starch.

Abstract

Wulansari A, Sudarno S, Muhammad F. 2020. Analysis of medical solid waste generation at puskesmas in Bantul Regency. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Medical waste generation of puskesmas in Bantul Regency has continued to increase over the past 6 years (2014-2019), however, medical waste management at the puskesmas is still not optimally implemented due to limited availability of resources. The problem has become complex with the Covid 19 pandemic which is predicted will increase the quantity of hazardous waste that comes from medical services. This study aims to analyze medical solid waste generation at puskesmas in Bantul Regency during the Covid 19 pandemic by collecting primary and secondary data at 27 puskesmas. Data analysed using analytic descriptive techniques. The results showed that average generation of solid medical waste at puskesmas in Bantul district was 16.11 grams/patient.day for puskesmas rawat inap and 8.31 grams/patient.day for puskesmas rawat jalan. After the Covid 19 pandemic occurred in March 2020 there was an increase in the average generation of medical waste at 35.74 grams/patient.day for puskesmas rawat inap and 23.21 grams/patient.day for puskesmas rawat jalan. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was no correlation between number of patients and amount of medical waste produced at each puskesmas. However, number of patients correlated with rate of medical waste generation at each puskesmas with a pearson correlation value of -0.621. Strategy that can be taken to optimize medical waste management is carry out internal sterilization of waste before it is transported by a third party and improve the quality of TPS limbah B3 at the health center.

Abstract

Setyani I, Budihardjo MA, Muhammad F.  2020. The determination of soil quality indicators from ex-mining reclamation. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang  20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Soil plays a role in maintaining and improving environmental quality. As a result of mining activities, the soil quality will decline. There are six key indicators to determine the recommended soil quality, namely soil organic matter content, soil acidity, soil bulk density, available water capacity, soil aggregation and respiration. There is also a need for a policy regarding reclamation as a form of controlling ex-mining land. Reclamation is a soil management activity which includes improving the physical condition of the soil, constructing reservoirs to improve the quality of mine water, and revegetation activities. Reclamation activities must be carried out in an effort to reduce environmental damage and divert the function of ex-mining land into agricultural land. This paper aims to explain the determination of soil quality indicators and the factors that support the success of ex-mining land reclamation. With the success of reclamation carried out on ex-mining land, it is hoped that environmental sustainability and agricultural sustainability can be maintained to support food security.

Abstract

Sriutami O, Hamzah B, Syafutri MI. 2020. Soy milk and protexin addition effects on characteristics of swamp buffalo milk mozzarella cheese. In: Herlinda et al. (2020.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Swamp buffalo milk has a high fat and protein content, so it has the potential to be processed into mozzarella cheese. Mozarella cheese is a type of soft cheese that has an elastic, soft and stringy texture. An important step in cheese making is the formation of curd. It consists of two ways, namely direct addition of acid and addition of starter culture. The objective of the research was to study the effect of soy milk and lactic acid protexin addition on the physical, chemical, microbiological, and sensory characteristics of swamp buffalo milk mozzarella cheese. This study used a factorial randomized block design with two treatment factors, namely concentration of soy milk (0%, 10%, and 20%) and concentration of protexin (2.5% and 5.0%). The parameters observed included physical (texture), chemical (water and ash content), microbiological, and sensory characteristics using hedonic tests (include texture, overall appearance and aroma). The results showed that concentration of soy milk had significant effects on texture and moisture content, while concentration of protexin had significant  effect on texture. Interaction of soy milk concentration and protexin concentration significantly affected physical (texture) and sensory characteristics (texture and overall appearance) of swamp buffalo milk mozzarella cheese. Based on the highest score of hedonic test (texture and overall appearance), mozarella cheese with 10% of soy milk and 5.0% of protexin addition was the best treatment.
