Agustini TW. 2020. Fish-based functional food to improve health quality during pandemic covid 19 era functional compounds of fish and algae: applications in food. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang  20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The current COVID-19 pandemic requires us to maintain our immune system, one of which is by consuming nutritious foods. The high number of free radicals in the body can reduce the immune system. Antioxidants can prevent the overproduction of free radicals so that they can prevent damage to immune cells. Functional food is food or food ingredients containing bioactive compounds that can provide benefits beyond basic nutrition and provide health effects in the prevention of a disease. Fish and algae are a source of bioactive compounds with various bioactivity. Fish and algae functional compounds that have been utilized include proteins, peptides, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), polysaccharides, pigments, and various active compounds that have antioxidant, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Antioxidant nutrients commonly used are protein hydrolysate, β-carotene, chlorophyll, astaxanthin, fucoxanthin and phycocyanin as well as polyphenol group compounds. These functional compounds can be applied in functional food products in health care and prevention of disease. This paper briefly explain the functional compounds of fish and algae, their application to functional food products and future development trends.

(Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Studies on the value of swamp forage digestion have been widely conducted, but information about the pattern and rate of degradation of swamp forage is still low. The study aims to evaluate the pattern of hemicellulose degradation of swamp grass in swamp buffalo in Sacco. The study was conducted using Complete Random Design with six treatments and three replications as follows: Rumput Bento Rayap (RBR), Rumput Kumpai Minyak (RKM), Rumput Kumpai Tembaga (RKT), Rumput Kumpai Padi (RKP), Rumput Sendayan (RSN) dan Rumput Purun Tikus (RPT). The observed parameter is the pattern of hemicellulose degradation of swamp grass. The results showed different degradation patterns in six types of swamp grass (p<0.05). Fraction A, Rumput Bento Rayap has the highest score (38.60%) compared to other treatments, and a fraction, b was founded in Rumput Kumpai Padi (19.93 %). Meanwhile, the highest fraction c value was founded in Rumput Sendayan (0.35 %hours) but is no different when compared to Rumput Purun Tikus (0.32 %hours). The highest total digestibility value at incubation period 6 – 48 hours (P-value) was founded in the treatment of Rumput Purun Tikus (333.06 %). Based on the results of this study can be concluded that Rumput Purun tikus has the best digestibility value compared to the other six types of swamp grass.

Abstract

Ariyska D, Pratomo B, Sitinjak RR, Karosekali SA, Pinem JL, & Fachrial E. 2020. The effect of banana weevil (Musa balbisiana Colla) as MOL and soaking time on the growth of mucuna bracteata. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xxx.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).This study aims to determine the effect of concentration and soaking time of MOL banana weevil (Musa balbisiana Colla) on the growth of Mucuna bracteata. The banana species used in this study were bananas with seeds, and grew in abundance in several plantation areas. So that the potential is very disturbing to the main crop, namely oil palm, in other words it becomes a weed in plantations. In this study, bananas were used as a source of MOL. This study used an experimental method with a factorial randomized block design with 2 replications and 16 treatments. The first factor is the concentration of MOL banana weevil (Musa balbisiana Colla) (M) with 4 levels: M0 (0%), M1 (15%), M2 (30%), M3 (45%), the second factor is immersion time (P) with 4 levels: P0 (immersion), P1 (15 minutes), P2 (30 minutes), P3 (45 minutes). The data obtained were analyzed by means of analysis of variance with a significance of 5%. The results of data processing showed that anova did not significantly affect the interaction between the MOL concentration of banana weevil (Musa balbisiana Colla) and the immersion time on the growth of Mucuna bracteata. Various concentrations of banana weevil MOL (Musa balbisiana Colla) and soaking time did not significantly affect the growth of Mucuna bracteata plants. However, physically the growth of Mucuna bracteata is good, so that the presumption arises that this MOL actually acts as a nutrient/fertilizer for plants. Not as a growth regulator as the initial target of the research.

Abstract

Aswardi A, Gevira Z, Cindy C, Putri MD, Putri FH, Taqwa FH. 2020. Pemanfaatan Tepung Tapioka sebagai Alternatif Subsitusi Molase dalam Budidaya Ikan Nila Sistem Bioflok. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang  20 Oktober 2020. pp. xxx.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The need for tilapia commodities is increasing globally causing the fish cultivation technology to be applied increasingly intensively due to the increasingly limited availability of cultivated land. The purpose of this study is to focus on intensifying the production of tilapia aquaculture with biofloc systems on suboptimal land with an alternative carbon source in the form of tapioca flour, so that it is expected that there will be an increase in the productivity and profit of fish cultivators on suboptimal land. Intensive cultivation of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) with increasing stocking density and using a biofloc system in suboptimal land is one alternative that can be applied to increase cultivation productivity and overcome the limitations of the cultivated land. The biofloc system can be applied because it can convert the ammonia waste in the culture medium into microbial biomass which can be used as natural food with the help of heterotrophic bacteria. The acceleration of activity of these heterotrophic bacteria is determined by the use of probiotics as a source of nutrition, where one of the commonly used carbon sources is molasses. However, the molasses number is limited, and does not determine the continuity of its production because competition with other industrial needs causes the need for an alternative carbon source substitution. One of the potential substitutes for molasses is tapioca flour, because of its relatively affordable price and abundant availability. The addition of tapioca flour in molasses substitution can provide a good substrate for the development and growth of microorganisms and bacteria in the biofloc system, so that it will support fish growth and the immune response tilapia with a C/N ratio of 15.

Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xxx.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).One of the main problem in guava cultivation is root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne sp.). Synthetic nematicides was not suitable for controlling of nematodes on guava because of their side effect on environment and health. Therefore, it was necessary to search the alternative control technique. This research aim was to study the Purpureocillium lilacinum bionematicide to control root knot nematode on Kristal guava plantation. Field experiment with Block Experimental Design with five block was conducted in Kristal guava plantation belonging PT GGP-PG4 East Lampung, from January until May 2020. Four treatment were applied consisted of bionematicide, bionematicide plus compost, synthetic Carbofuran nematicide, and check without treatment. New shoot formation data were plotted on histogram graph, while analyses of variance was applied for root damage and nematode population and LSD test was used for mean separation by R-studio program on 5% significance level. The results show that application of P. lilacinum bionematicide solely or composed with compost were effective to control root knot nematodes on Kristal guava plantation. It was recommended to use bionematicides P. lilacinum plus compost to control plant parasitic nematodes for various cultivated plants.

Munandar M, Gustiar F, Ningsih SW, Ammar M. 2020. Growth and calcium content of mustard and lettuce plants biofortificated with calcium grown hydroponically. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Mustard and lettuce are vegetables that can be a source of Ca. Efforts to increase the Ca plants can be done through biofortification, namely increasing the concentration of Ca through fertilizers in nutrient solution. However, excessive application of Ca is not recommended because it will be toxic to plants. This study aims to determine the effect of concentrations of Ca added to  AB Mix hydroponic solution  on Ca content, and growth of mustard (Brassica juncea L) and lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). This study used a hydroponic water culture system, with a completely randomized design. Treatments of Ca concentration were: control, 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm, and 400 ppm. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, SPAD value, fresh and dry weight, and leaf Calcium concentration. The results showed (1) the addition of Ca 300 ppm into AB Mix solution was the optimal concentration for hydroponic biofortification of Ca in mustard and lettuce; (2) absorption of Ca nutrients increased the leaf number, SPAD value, and reduce the height of mustard and lettuce plants and (3) consumption of 100 grams of mustard and lettuce plants biofortificated with 300 ppm Ca can meet 41.6% and 24.8% of the daily requirement for calcium mineral, respectively. Application of Ca 300 ppm is the highest concentration of hydroponic nutrient solution which can increase the plant's Ca content without causing a biomass decrease.,  and
