In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 47-57.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).This research aims to study the effect of the application of Palm Oil Mill (POME) on the physical and chemical characteristics of the soil as well as the growth and yield of soybean (Glycine max L.). Field experiments were carried out on Ultisols soil in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The treatments included chemical fertilizers (75 kg urea/ha, 100 kg SP-36/ha, 50 kg KCl/ha) without POME (L) and POME application at a dose of 75,000 L/ha (L1), 150,000 L/ha (L2), 225,000 L/ha (L3), and 300,000 L/ha (L4). The experiment used a simple randomized group design with 4 replications. The experimental results showed that POME application had a significant effect on soil K-dd at 30 DAP, several primary branches, and soybean yield per plot but had no significant effect on total pore space, permeability, pH, C-organic, and P-available at 30 DAP and 60 DAP and soil K-dd at 60 DAP and soybean plant height. The highest soybean yield was 2.72 tons/ha obtained by treatment L4 (300,000 L POME/ha).

Abstract

Ardisa FA, Nafiqoh N, Kurniati TH. 2021. The effect of the freeze-drying process on viability  streptococcus agalactiae on chitosan media, skim milk, and BHIB culture media. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 296-304.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Streptococcus agalactiae bacteria are cocci-shaped bacteria, gram positive, catalase (-) and are pathogenic that can attack fish. One of the alternative to overcome the attack of pathogenic bacteria is by giving vaccines to fish. Vaccines can be made using the freeze-drying technique, which has the advantage of maintaining the quality of the drying results. This study aims to determine the technique of making S. agalactiae vaccines by freeze-drying on encapsulation media and to determine the viability of S. agalactiae on skim milk, chitosan and BHIB (Brain Heart Infusion Broth) culture media. The stages of making the freeze-dried vaccines include confirmation of S. agalactiae bacteria through Gram staining, catalase enzyme test, and detection of virulence factor genes based on cps L, cps J, and cps G genes. The vaccine was made using the freeze dryer method on chitosan encapsulation media, skimmed milk, and BHIB. The viability of bacteria in vaccine preparations was known based on the calculation of the total plate number. The test results showed the isolates were gram positive, coccus-shaped and catalase negative. The isolates were also confirmed to have cps L, cps J, and cps G genes. After 24 hours the total bacterial plate count in skim milk and chitosan medium was 8x1012 CFU/ml and 3.2x1012 CFU/ml, while in BHIB medium the number of colonies exceeds the calculation standard limit. Based on these results, the three tested media have potential as encapsulation media for S. agalactiae vaccine production.

Abstract

Fajar FNI, Sirait DDCP, Saputra EA, Muis M, Nugraha R, Pujiastuti Y. 2021. Population of Spodoptera Frugipeda in the corn field of monocultural and polycultural  plant patterns. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 570-577.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). Increased yields on corn cropland are certainly an important factor in meeting the needs of other commodities besides rice. In order to maximize the management can not be arbitrary. It's just that there are some obstacles during its cultivation such as Spodoptera which damage crop yields, so it is necessary to carry out proper and maximum control. The main highlight on Spodoptera pests is S.  frugiperda. Control of Spodoptera frugiperda can be overcome by the use of pesticides but the impact is not too good because it will kill natural predators. The right step can be with the management of polyculture cropping patterns. This is in the form of monoculture and polyculture. The purpose of writing this scientific paper was to determine the population of S. frugiperda in corn fields in monoculture and polyculture cropping patterns. The method used in writing this paper is a literature study method obtained from literature from books and scientific journals on the internet. Based on the results of the literature study obtained, it is known that cropping patterns are related to the life of S.  frugiperda. Polyculture is more effective in preventing this pest from growing well than monoculture. Polyculture cropping patterns can help various kinds of insects increase so that competition between S. frugiperda and natural enemy insects can occur. It was concluded that the population of S. frugiperda differs depending on the crop pattern and it is more effective to use a polycultural cropping pattern interspersed with plants like soybeans to inhibit the population of Spodoptera frugiperda.

Abstract

Santari PT, Amin M, mulyawan R. 2021. improvement of Soil Properties on Sandy Soil By Providing Amelliorant and Biofertilizers. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang  20 Oktober 2021. pp. 854-862.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). Nutrients N, P, K are nutrients needed by plants in large amounts because these elements affect the growth and production of plants. N, P, K deficiencies are often found, especially in sandy soil types. Sandy soil has a low content of organik matter and nutrients. In sandy soil, the sand fraction content is high so that the nutrients are not easily bound, it is easy to pass water, and the total number of microorganisms is relatively low. The existence of these obstacles makes sandy soils need further management so that they can be used optimally. Ways that can be done to improve and increase the status of soil fertility are by giving manure and biological fertilizers. It is believed that the application of manure and biological fertilizer can improve physical, chemical, and biological properties. The provision of manure and biological fertilizers can increase plant productivity because they can be a stimulant in nutrient availability and improving soil physical properties. Several studies and literature on the application of manure and biological fertilizers on sandy soils have been carried out, either singly or in combination. This paper aims to compile the results of research on the application of manure and types of biological fertilizers applied to sandy soils so that a conclusion can be found that can be recommended by farmers in managing sandy soils.

Abstract

Lumbantoruan SM, Anggraini S, Siaga E. 2021. Potential of biofertilizer in optimizing corn growth in drought stress of peatlands. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 162-171. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Peatland is suboptimal land which has high potential to be used as agricultural, but the potential of this peat soil has challenges that are not easy to manage in a sustainable manner. Incorrect management can result in peatlands experiencing drought stress. A technological approach that can be used to optimize the use of peat soil that is experiencing drought stress in maize can be done by applying biological fertilizers. The results of this study are expected to optimize the growth of maize in drought stress peat soils. The design used in this study was a completely randomized block design with 2 treatment factors, namely the first treatment factor for biological fertilizers, namely H0: without mycorrhizae, H1: Mycorrhizae + Petrobio, H2: Mycorrhiza + Agrozeabiochar, H3: Mycorrhizae + Pugam. The second treatment factor was the intensity of watering, namely P1: Watering once a day, P2: Watering once in 3 days, P3: Watering once in 5 days, P4: Watering once in 7 days. The results showed that the application of biological fertilizers was able to increase the average plant height, stem diameter, and root length. Biofertilizer Micoriza + Petrobio was able to increase plant height by 11.7 cm and biological fertilizer Micoriza + Pugam (H3) was able to increase stem diameter by 1.3 and root length by 115.7 in drought stress peat soil compared to control.

Vanderi AR, Arsi A, Utami M, Bintang A, Amanda DS, Sakinah AN, Malini R. 2021. The role of insects to support sustainable agriculture systems. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 249-259. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Insects have the highest number of species among other living things. The understanding that insects are plant-disturbing organisms (OPT) has led to the development of synthetic chemical pesticides that are very damaging to the environment. In fact, insects have many roles to support sustainable agricultural systems. This article aimed to study the role of insects in supporting a sustainable agriculture system. This article was compiled from a study of scientific literature. It has been resulted that the review shows the success of a sustainable agricultural system can be done by utilizing the roles of insects. Such as the role of insects as pollinators of the order Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera and Diptera, and also the role of insects as decomposers of the order Hymenoptera. Then, the role of insects as bioindicators of the orders Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera, and Odanata. As well as the role of insects as parasitoids of the order Hymenoptera, and the role of insects as predators of the orders Coleoptera, Hemiptera, and Odonata. The conclusion, the insects do not always have a negative impact, because some of the roles of insects can be utilized to support sustainable agricultural systems.
