Abstract

Saidi BB, Purnama H, Hendri J, Firdaus F, Minsyah NI.  2021. Lebak swamp land optimization supports rice production in Batanghari Jambi Regency. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang  20 Oktober 2021. pp. 58-71. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Lebak swamp land is a swamp that is affected by the presence of inundation with a duration of inundation of more than 3 months and inundation height of more than 50 cm. The potential of lebak swamps for the development of rice farming is very large. The area of lebak swamp land in Batanghari Regency is 4,033 ha. In order to support the Land Optimization Program to increase rice production in Batanghari district, 2,500 ha of lebak swamp land has been established in 7 (seven) sub-districts, 21 villages. The study aims to: (1) provide information about the characteristics, potential, opportunities of lowland swamp land for agricultural development, and (2) provide direction and strategic steps for developing lowland swamp land in Batanghari Regency. The assessment will be carried out from July to August 2021. carried out using a survey method to collect primary data (characteristics of lebak swamp land) and secondary data (other supporting factors that influence the increase in rice production). The results of the study showed that the lowland swamp rice fields in Batanghari Regency were categorized as shallow lowland swamps, with alluvial soil types, namely undeveloped soils, formed from fine, coarse and organic alluvium materials. The results of the evaluation of land suitability for rice plants, the main limiting factors are the availability of oxygen (drainage), nutrient retention and nutrient availability, especially nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. For this reason, it is necessary to improve irrigation channels and manage land and nutrients (fertilization). The optimization of lebak swamp land management is very likely to be improved by increasing the cropping index (IP) from 100 to 200, introducing new, adaptive varieties, including Inpara3. increase farmers' income.

Abstract

Sakiroh S, Sasmita KD, Astutik, D. 2021. The impact of shade and altitude on tea shoots production (Camellia sinensis L.). In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 209-218. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Tea plants are tropical and subtropical C3 plants. The increasing worldwide demand for tea has a significant impact on Indonesian tea demand. Tea production was observed with the application of appropriate technical culture. Tea plant production and productivity can be raised and maximized by considering the plant's physical and environmental characteristics. Shade plants have an impact on the tea plant's environments. Temporary shade plants include Crotalaria sp. and Tephrosia sp., whereas permanent shade plants contain Grevillea robusta. Temporary shade plants are those that are currently developing and require a light intensity of 65-70 percent to grow. When compared to not applying shade in the tea planting technique, shade can improve tea growth. Shades can offer several benefits, including lowering the temperature, increasing humidity, reducing light intensity of the leaves' surface, and lessening the effect of photoinhibition, Both of these factors would have a long-term impact on tea productivity. Upper leaves with shade had a 65 percent higher photosynthetic rate than leaves without shade. In both the dry and wet seasons, the productivity and production of shaded tea are higher than that of un-shaded tea. Tea productivity in the highlands is higher than tea productivity in the middle and lower regions.

Mirsam H, Suriani S, Makkulawu AT, Djaenuddin N, Abdullah F.  2021. Evaluation of resistance of hybrid corn genotypes against leaf blight and leaf rust diseases. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 305-313. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Plant pathogens are one of the causes of corn yield loss in Indonesia. Evaluation of the resistance of hybrid maize genotypes against major pathogens is deemed necessary as the first step in the management of the pathogens. This study aimed to evaluate the resistance reaction of the prospective hybrid corn varieties against the primary disease of corn. This study was conducted at two different locations. The location was at the Agricultural Technology Research and Assessment Installation (ATRAI) of the Indonesian Cereals Research Institute in Bajeng District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The study was conducted using spreader row plants as a source of inoculum for the test pathogen that planted around the experimental block. Spreader rows were inoculated with conidia suspension of the fungus Bipolaris maydis for leaf blight and the pathogen Puccinia polysora for leaf rust in the afternoon with a spore density of about 6 x104 conidia/ml. The results showed that there were 16 genotypes reacted moderately resistant and 7 genotypes reacted susceptible against  B. maydis. In addition, there were 11 genotypes reacted moderately resistance and 12 genotypes that reacted susceptible against P. polysora.

Abstract

Febrida C. 2021. The relationship between telling leadership style and job satisfaction of police members in the field of profession and security of the South Sumatra regional police. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang  20 Oktober 2021. pp. 451-458.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). The relationship between the leadership style of telling and job satisfaction of Police members in the field of profession and security at the South Sumatra Regional Police has not been widely studied.  The study aimed to empirically find out how big the relationship is between the leadership style of telling and job satisfaction of Police members in the field of profession and security at the South Sumatra Regional Police. The research method used empirical juridical approach with the type of field research. The leadership style of telling is a leadership style where superiors carry out one-way communication, superiors formulate and define the roles of subordinates and the decisions making is entirely the responsibility of the superiors. Job satisfaction is a positive feeling felt by Police members as a result of the compatibility between the expectations and reality of work in the form of work, promotions, salaries, superiors, and co-workers.  The results of this study showed that there was a very significant positive relationship between the leadership style of telling and job satisfaction of Police members in the profession and security sector of the South Sumatra Regional Police (r = 0.3333; F = 9.223; p = 0.003 or p < 0.01). A significance value of 0.003 showed the significance at the 1% test level (p = 0.01).  So, the higher the leadership style of telling is, the lower the job satisfaction will be, and the lower the leadership style of telling is, the higher the job satisfaction will be. It is suggested that one of the most important things for a Police organization having a highly competitive ability be the handling of human resources either from the leadership style of telling or from job satisfaction.

Algifani F, Adelia AD, Herdinawati H, Bangun LB, Purba N, Rahmadani SA, Arsi A.  2021. The effectiveness of attractants in controlling fruit flies (Bactrocera sp.) on chilli pepper (Capsicum annuum L). In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang  20 Oktober 2021. pp. 578-586.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). Chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) was one of the important plants in Indonesia and had high economic value. The existence of chili plants cannot be separated from pests such as fruitflies (Bactrocera sp.). This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of anthrax compounds in controlling fruitflies attacks on chili plants. Symptoms of the attack caused by the presence of black spots on the chili. The methodology used in writing this paper was based on some literatures studied of scientific articles. The results of reviews from several journals, an anthraxant compound that was effective for controlling fruitflies pests on chili plants is methyl eugenol. The most effective dose of Methyl Eugenol was 1.5 ml/trap. Utilization of used pheromones greatly affects the population of male fruit flies. This could significantly suppress and control the subsequent regeneration of fruitflies populations. The most effectively time to application Methyl Eugenol fruit fly trap was in the morning and evening. The most common fruitflies found in traps was the species Bactrocera dorsalis. In conclusion, pheromone traps are effective traps to reduce fruitflies populations on chili plants.

Abstract

Fitriana M, Kandila A, Nasution H, Rusman MA, Al-Ghifary MW, Lukito P, Arsi A. 2021. Symptoms of  fruitfly (Batrocera spp) attack and application of correct installation of pheromone traps in controlling fruitflies on eggplant (Solanum melongena L). In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 172-179.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is one of the plants with a wide distribution because it is include in the food ingredients of daily life. Fruitflies are small insects that are one of the pests on eggplant plants. The existence of this fruitfly was usually left alone by farmers because it could help pollinate eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). This observation aimed to determined the symptoms of fruit fly attacks and determine the proper installation of pheromone traps on eggplant plants (Solanum melongena L.). This research methodology was based on a literature study of scientific articles. Symptoms of attacks caused by fruitflies were in the form of puncture marks from the ovipositor. Fruitfly attacks were found on eggplants that were almost ripe so that the impact of these attacks on eggplants becomes rotten. The use of pheromones can reduced the use of insectisides. The proper installation of pheromone traps were placed the trap at distance of ±1.5 meters. The results of the pheromone trap obtained a ratio of 3:1 in the first bottle, 1:1 in the second bottle, and 1:1. This shows that there were more male fruit flies than female fruit flies. The conclusion of this observation shows that the symptoms of fruit fly attack such as the presence of puncture marks on almost ripe fruit, then the right strategy for applying pheromone traps with a distance of ±1.5 meters.

Abstract

Astiko W, Ernawati NML, Silawibawa IP.  2021. Concentration of N, P and plant growth in maize-soybean intercropping added mycorrhizae, organic matter and plant nutrients in suboptimal land, North Lombok. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 260-268. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Suboptimal land optimization through intercropping patterns of maize and soybeans using mycorrhizal biological fertilizers and plant nutrition sources has not received much attention. This study aims to determine the concentration of P, N, and plant growth in the intercropping pattern of maize-soybean added mycorrhizal biofertilizer and plant nutrition. The experimental design used was a factorial randomized block design consisting of two treatment factors. The first factor is mycorrhizal biofertilizer (M) which consists of 2 levels: M0 = No mycorrhizal fertilizer and M1 = Using biological fertilizer (1 ton/ha). The second factor is the source of nutrition (U) which consists of 4 levels, namely: U0 = Without the addition of nutrients, U1 = With the addition of 100% dose of inorganic fertilizer only (maize = urea 300 kg/ha and Phonska 200 kg/ha, soybeans = 60 kg/ha Urea and 120 kg/ha Phonska), U2 = With the addition of 100% dose of cattle manure (12 tons/ha), and U3 = With the addition of 50% dose of cattle manure (6 t/ha) + 50% dose of inorganic fertilizer (maize = urea 150 kg/ha and Phonska 100 kg/ha, soybean = 30 kg/ha Urea and 60 kg/ha Phonska. The results showed that 50% dose of cattle manure (6 t/ha) + 50% dose of inorganic fertilizer (maize = urea 150 kg/ha and Phonska 100 kg/ha, soybean = 30 kg/ha Urea and 60 kg/ha Phonska) plus mycorrhizal biofertilizer in maize-soybean intercropping gave the best concentration of N, P and plant growth.Â
