Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine students' responses to learning about hydrostatic pressure using the PhET Simulation-based inquiry method. Simulation-based learning was chosen because the material on hydrostatic pressure is abstract and requires visualization to improve conceptual understanding. Understanding the concept is a process for someone to think in order to be able to understand and understand a concept in learning and also to process a learning material that will be received so that it becomes more (Fitriyani et al., 2023). The research was conducted at MAN 2 Kota Jambi with 15 students from class XI F8 selected using purposive sampling. The research approach used a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The research instrument was a 1–5 Likert scale questionnaire consisting of 10 statements, covering two main aspects: (1) attitude towards the PhET Simulation media, and (2) general attitude towards learning. Data were collected after students participated in inquiry-based learning that allowed them to explore the variables of depth, density, and gravity through independent simulation.The descriptive analysis results show that the overall average score was 4.12, which falls into the "Good" category. In terms of attitudes toward PhET media, the average score of 4.12 indicates that students felt helped in understanding the concepts and enjoyed the learning process. In terms of general attitudes toward learning, the average score of 4.12 indicates an increase in motivation, speed of understanding, and concept retention. The highest score was on the statement regarding the ease of remembering concepts (Fitriyani et al., 2023)(4.4), while the lowest score came from several individual responses that did not affect the general trend. Overall, PhET Simulation-based inquiry learning received a positive response ( ) from students and was considered effective in improving their understanding of physucs concepts, especially hydrostatic pressure. This learning model is recommended for application tp other physics materials that require interactive visualization.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the normative basis of teacher professional ethics based on Law Number 14 of 2005 and examine its implementation in the use of social media in the digital era. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review by examining various regulations and relevant scientific literature from the past ten years. The results of the study indicate that teacher professionalism is not only determined by mastery of pedagogical, professional, social, and personality competencies, but also by moral integrity and adherence to the professional code of ethics. Technological developments expand ethical practices into the digital realm, presenting both opportunities and challenges, particularly regarding behavior on social media and student data protection. The government has responded by developing digital ethics guidelines, strengthening literacy through professional development programs, and providing protection and law enforcement mechanisms. Although their implementation still faces obstacles such as the digital literacy gap, limited access to training, and less than optimal dissemination of regulations. Therefore, ongoing strengthening efforts are needed through improving digital ethics competencies, establishing a school culture based on moral values, and collaboration between the government, professional organizations, and educational units. This study confirms that teaching professional ethics in the digital era is an inseparable part of adaptive professionalism, while adhering to humanitarian values and moral responsibility. Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM), a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels caused by impaired insulin secretion, insulin resistance, or both. The prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus among adolescents has been increasing, mainly due to unhealthy lifestyle patterns. The Clean and Healthy Lifestyle/Prilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) is a set of consciously practiced health behaviors aimed at improving and maintaining health, including consuming balanced nutritious foods, engaging in regular physical activity, maintaining personal hygiene, and avoiding smoking. PHBS education is considered essential in preventing Type 2 DM from an early age. This research aims to determine the effect of PHBS education on the prevention of Type 2 DM among adolescents at SMA Daar El-Qolam, Banten. The study is a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. Data were collected using questionnaires assessing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to diet, physical activity, and smoking, and were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge (p<0.05) as well as positive changes in attitudes and behaviors regarding healthy eating and physical activity after the intervention. The study concludes that PHBS education effectively enhances adolescents’ knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behaviors toward Type 2 DM. School-based health education programs are recommended as promotive and preventive measures to reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases among high school student.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of project-based learning model in improving student collaboration in game-based media development. This research is a pre-experimental research because the research sample consists of one experimental class and does not involve a control class. In this study, the sample used was 21 students from the Jambi University Chemistry Education Study Program who took the chemistry learning gamification course in the 2023/2024 academic year. The method used to collect student collaboration data is the questionnaire method. Data on collaboration in the sample class were collected twice, namely before and after the application of the project-based learning model in the sample class. The hypothesis test results obtained a significance value of 0.00 or smaller than 0.05, so that the application of the project-based learning model was effective in improving student collaboration skills in the sample class. In this study, it can be concluded that applying a project-based learning model improves students' ability to work together.

Abstract

This paper critically examines Jacques Rancière's rejection of Althusser's concept of interpretation in epistemological rupture, and explores its implications for character education at SMA St. Thomas 1 Medan. Rancière's critique stems from his rejection of hierarchical epistemological structures in the dichotomy between science and ideology. For Rancière, this approach constrains the division of social aesthetics of class outside of power as an ideological object, rather than as an autonomous political subject. By connecting this epistemological critique to the practice of character education, this paper argues that Rancière's principle of epistemic equality provides a theoretical foundation for building more inclusive and emancipatory learning environments. At SMA St. Thomas 1 Medan, character education that is grounded in critical reflection, autonomous thinking, and the equal recognition of all students as active moral agents aligns with Rancière's post-structural vision. The author uses a qualitative hermeneutic method to analyze primary works of Rancière and Althusser and relate them to current educational practice. Results affirm that the interpretation of Marxism must be grounded within social aesthetics, and that this framework offers a progressive, emancipatory model for character formation in secondary schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the mathematical problem-solving skills of sixth-grade students at MI Maraqitta’limat Anyar using an open approach. The research approach used was CAR, which was conducted over two cycles. Participants in this study were 15 sixth-grade students from MI Maraqitta’limat Anyar. The tools used consisted of observation forms, problem-solving tests, and documentation. The results showed that the use of an open approach successfully improved students' abilities in solving mathematical problems. This improvement was reflected in the increase in students' test scores, rising from 20% in the pre-cycle to 46.7% in the first cycle, and reaching 80% in the second cycle. In short, the open method proved successful in encouraging students to engage in creative thinking and discover various strategies to solve problems

Abstract

This study investigates the orthographic representation of the ingressive bilabial plosive /ƀ/ and the ingressive dental–epikopos plosive /đ/ in contemporary Bimanese (Bahasa Mbojo). Although these phonemes have been formally standardized in Kamus Mbojo–Indonesia Edisi Ketiga (2023), preliminary observations indicate significant variation in actual written usage. Drawing on naturally occurring data from WhatsApp group interactions among Bimanese speakers, this study identifies two dominant orthographic strategies: cluster substitution (ƀ → pb, đ → td) and phonological simplification (ƀ → b, đ → t). Using a qualitative-dominant mixed-method approach supported by phonological theory, acoustic phonetics, orthographic studies, and sociolinguistics, the study demonstrates that these forms are systematic and socially shared rather than random errors. The findings reveal a substantial gap between orthographic standardization and real-world language practice, shaped by phonological markedness, Indonesian language influence, and technological constraints in digital communication. This study contributes to broader discussions on orthography, language planning, phonological representation, and digital sociolinguistics in minority languages.

Abstract

The study was conducted to explore students' perceptions about the gulf of education between urban and rural areas in the Muara Enim district. Qualitative descriptive method is used in the study by involving six high school students as participants. Data collection is conducted through semi-structured interviews to obtain information about the students' experiences and views of the education conditions in both areas. Research results suggest that availability of facilities, accessibility, technological support and Internet connectivity in urban areas are more adequate than rural areas, such as limitations in facilities, inadequate infrastructure lack education, and unstable Internet access, they are perceived to affect experiences in learning and students' opportunities for quality education.. Thus, increased education infrastructure and the equalizing of educational resources should be made in an effort to reduce educational inequality and realize more equitable learning opportunities for all students.

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate students' level of understanding of static electricity in physics at MAN 1 Merangin, as well as to identify obstacles encountered during the teaching process. The methodological approach used was descriptive qualitative, with data collected through surveys. The research population involved some students from class XII IPA 2, while the research sample consisted of 11 students selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used included a questionnaire to measure concept mastery and another questionnaire to detect learning difficulties. These instruments were designed to assess basic concept understanding, learning obstacles, and aspects of the material that students found most difficult.The findings show that students' level of understanding of static electricity concepts is moderate. No students were classified as having the lowest level of understanding. Specifically, 3 students (27.27%) were in the partially understood category, while the other 8 students (72.73%) were classified as fully understanding. This indicates that most students have successfully mastered the concept of static electricity, from definitions and interactions between charges to the process of charge formation. However, students had difficulty internalizing the concept of electric flux and its application to various forms of symmetry. These findings reinforce the view that even though students have prior knowledge, abstract concepts such as electric field interactions and the principle of symmetry remain major challenges in physics learning.Overall, the findings of this study indicate the urgency of improving students' understanding of static electricity concepts by applying more efficient learning techniques, utilizing various representation methods, and strengthening the foundations of key concepts before exploring topics involving quantitative and conceptual aspects. This study is expected to serve as a guide for teachers in developing pedagogical approaches that are more in line with students' characteristics and learning patterns.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the inquiry method in the Basic Natural Sciences course and analyze its impact on students' understanding of science concepts. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants consisted of a lecturer and students enrolled in the Basic Natural Sciences course. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and learning documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation, member checking, and peer debriefing. The findings revealed that the inquiry method was implemented through several stages, namely problem identification, question formulation, hypothesis development, data collection, data analysis, and conclusion drawing. The implementation of the inquiry method encouraged active student participation in scientific investigations and classroom discussions. Students demonstrated a deeper understanding of science concepts by connecting theoretical knowledge with real-life phenomena. In addition, the inquiry method enhanced students' critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and scientific literacy. Although several challenges were identified, including differences in students' academic backgrounds and the availability of learning resources, the inquiry method proved effective in promoting meaningful and contextual learning experiences. In conclusion, the inquiry method is an effective learning strategy for improving students' conceptual understanding of science in the Basic Natural Sciences course. Therefore, it is recommended as a student-centered instructional approach that supports the development of 21st-century competencies.
