Abstract

The development of information technology has brought significant changes to human life, particularly through internet services that facilitate access to information and communication. The need for quality internet services is increasing, including in the education sector. However, not all regions in Indonesia have equal access to the internet, particularly remote areas with limited network infrastructure. One example is the Darussyahidin NW Langko Islamic Boarding School, which experiences difficulties in accessing conventional internet services. To overcome this obstacle, in 2019 the Islamic boarding school adopted VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) satellite technology as a solution to provide internet access for students and teachers. However, an evaluation of the quality of the resulting internet service is necessary to optimally support the learning process. This study aims to analyze the quality of VSAT network services at the Darussyahidin NW Langko Islamic Boarding School. The analysis was conducted by considering Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as delay, jitter, packet loss, and throughput. This study also compares the results with several previous studies that discussed VSAT network performance in various contexts. The research results are expected to provide an overview of the quality of VSAT internet services in supporting learning activities, as well as being a reference in developing and improving network services in remote areas.

Abstract

Urban development in the coastal areas of Makassar City has experienced rapid growth, resulting in significant environmental, social, and economic changes within the community. This study aims to analyze the impact of urban development on the health of coastal communities using William Cockerham’s health sociology perspective. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that urban development has led to environmental changes in coastal areas, including pollution and the reduction of fishing grounds, which contribute to increased health risks. In addition, changes in the economic structure have affected the community’s ability to access healthcare services. Social, economic, and environmental factors emerge as the primary determinants shaping the health conditions of coastal communities. This study emphasizes that public health is not solely influenced by medical factors, but also by social structures and development policies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlational relationship between mastery of Qur’anic vocabulary and Arabic vocabulary skills among Islamic Senior High School (Madrasah Aliyah) students. The study is based on the assumption that the Holy Qur’an—with its vast lexical richness consisting of approximately 77,439 words distributed across 114 surahs—constitutes an exceptional educational source for acquiring eloquent Arabic vocabulary and developing learners’ linguistic competence. This study employed a quantitative correlational method and was conducted on a sample of Madrasah Aliyah students within an Islamic boarding school (pesantren) environment that integrates a Qur’anic memorization program with formal Arabic language instruction. Data were collected through two primary instruments: a Qur’anic vocabulary mastery test as the independent variable (X), and an Arabic vocabulary skills test as the dependent variable (Y). The data were statistically analyzed using SPSS through four stages: descriptive statistics, normality testing, hypothesis testing using the correlation coefficient, and coefficient of determination analysis. The findings revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between the two variables at the significance level of (α = 0.05), confirming that higher levels of Qur’anic vocabulary mastery positively influence students’ Arabic vocabulary skills. This relationship can be attributed to three main factors: first, Qur’anic vocabulary serves as a direct source of eloquent Arabic vocabulary; second, the systematic repetition of such vocabulary within the daily pesantren environment reinforces its retention in long-term memory; and third, emotional attachment to the Qur’an fosters strong intrinsic motivation to learn Arabic. The study concludes with several recommendations directed toward educators and policymakers, the most prominent of which is the need to systematically integrate Qur’anic vocabulary into Arabic language instruction while emphasizing semantic understanding rather than merely focusing on pronunciation and recitation aspects.

Abstract

This study discusses how students at SMA 2 Merangin understand physics concepts, particularly those related to quantities and derivatives. The background of this study arose because many high school students still have difficulty understanding physics lessons, especially when learning about quantities and derivatives. The purpose of this study is to see how well students understand this material. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach with field studies, which focused on students' experiences and views on how they learn. The population studied was all 30 students in grade X, and a sample of 15 students was taken so that the data obtained could represent the conditions of the class. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire with 10 questions using a Likert scale to find out students' views, level of understanding, learning problems, and the influence of internal and external factors on their understanding. The results of this study show that many students have difficulty relating the concepts of quantities and derivatives, especially when given irrelevant examples. This study concluded that there is a need for innovation in teaching methods, reinforcement of basic concepts, and increased use of visual media and simple experiments to help students better understand the concepts of magnitude and derivatives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of declining marriage rates among Generation Z and its impact on population dynamics in Indonesia. In recent years, there has been a growing trend of delayed marriage influenced by various factors, including economic conditions, shifting social values, and the influence of social media. This research employs a qualitative approach with an exploratory design to understand Generation Z’s perspectives on marriage. Data were collected through the analysis of digital content on social media platforms as well as a literature review of scholarly sources and statistical reports. The findings indicate that Generation Z tends to delay marriage due to prioritizing education, career development, and concerns about potential risks in marital relationships. This phenomenon has implications for declining fertility rates, changes in population age structure, and the potential for population aging in the future. From the perspective of the Second Demographic Transition (SDT) theory and the Intermediate Variables of Fertility, these changes reflect a shift from collective- oriented values toward individualization. Therefore, adaptive policies are needed to maintain the balance of population dynamics in Indonesia.
