Abstract

Based on the fact that many teachers still did not knew the multiple intelligences level of students. Whereas the teachers can be helped to decide the appropriate learning strategy and to form learning groups with knowing multiple intelligences level of students. This research head for knowing the relationship of multiple intelligences of students with the biology learning result of Senior High School students. This research is a descriptive research with correlation approach. The population of this research are grade X students of Senior High Schools in Padang. This research used proportionate stratified random sampling. The technique and instrument of data collection are questionnaires in order to know students multiple intelligences level and documentations for acquiring Senior High School students biology learning result. Hypothesis is tested by using Spearman-Rank correlation test. The result of this research showed that two intelligences have low correlation, those are linguistics intelligence and logical mathematical intelligence with correlation coefficient as big as 0,33 and 0,35. Six intelligences else have criteria with very low. As a whole multiple intelligences have low relation with biology learning result of Senior High School students. The correlation coefficient is as big as 0,30. So the biology learning result of Senior High School students tended to increase along with the increasing of multiple intelligences level. We can conclude that multiple intelligences level and biology learning result of Senior High School students in Padang have significantly positive relationship.

Abstract

Based on the writer’s interview with lecturers of animal development, to explain of cleavage and blastulation matter which most of it includes a process, difficult to explain the material to students. Medium on the market have been not compatible with curriculum. Therefore, a medium that will be used to visualize cleavage and blastulation process as a whole should be considered in order to make students’ understanding to this material can increase. The purpose of this research is to produce interactive medium with constructivism orientation, that is valid, practical and effective for cleavage and blastulation material. This research is categorized as development research. Model and procedure of the development apply 4-D(four-D models) that consists of define, design, develop, and disseminate stage. The data of this research that are going to be used in deciding the validatiy of interactive medium with constructivism orientation are derived from validation sheet.  The data requied to determine practicality  was obtained fom questionnaire of lectures and student. Effectiveness data was obtained fom activity. This research showed that  the average of validity, practicality, and effectiviness. Obtain the  validation average 88.8%, average of practicality from lecturer 75.9% and from students 75.82%, and the average results in terms of effectiviness of student activities 75.9%, and the average of their lesson outcomes 57.9. It is concluded that the development of interactive medium based on constructivism of cleavage and blastulation material in animal development subject is valid, quite practical, and quite effective.

Abstract

The purpose of this study  was to determine how students conceptions of matter regulation system and know the causes of misconceptions and do not understand the students through an analysis of the learning process conducted by teacher. To answer the problem in this study, the type of study is a descriptive study with the object of research is the learning process and conceptions of students and the research subject were students in grade XI IPA 1, XI IPA 2, and XI IPA 3 SMA Adabiah 1 Padang. Based on the observations that have been done on the process of learning regulation system in SMA Adabiah 1 Padang was found that the process of learning has not yet followed the standard process according to Permendiknas RI No. 41 tahun 2007and found there are still many students who have misconceptions and doesn’t understand the concepts being studied on the regulation system. Misconceptions and doesn’t understand that occurs in students mainly due to teachers and students in the learning process, and the lack use of instructional media.  Overall, the number of students who understand the regulation system concept in class XI IPA 1 is 43,87% and the remaining approximately 59,78% were not aware of any such concept. In class XI IPA 2, the students who understand is 48,65%  and the rest not aware of concept is 51,35%. In class XI IPA 3, the students who understand is 40,70%  and the rest not aware of concept is 59,30%.

Abstract

This article was written to determine the contribution of the teacher's teaching style on learning outcomes of students of biology, contributes to the teacher communication in the learning outcomes of students of biology, contribution to the teacher interaction in the learning outcomes of students of biology, contribution of teaching styles, communication and interaction of the teacher in the learning outcomes of students learning biology class XII Science High School in West Pasaman academic year 2013/2014. Data were analyzed manually, by trimming path model analysis. Individually testing each variable obtained t count> t table. That is, there is the contribution of each independent variable on the learning outcomes of students of class XII science biology high school in West Pasaman. Obtained simultaneous testing of Fcount> Ftable. That is, there is a contribution of teaching styles, communication, and interaction of the teacher in the learning outcomes of students learning biology class XII Senior High School in West Pasaman.

Abstract

Biology is one of the subjects related with natural science. In the subject of this biology, there are important concepts that must students to know. However, not all the materials can be understood by students. So to help them needed media to learning, such as module that could help improving their activities and student learning outcomes, The fact in SMA Negeri 1 Bukit Sundi Kabupaten Solok.  Based on this problem, this research aim to develop  valid, practical, and effective of module with mind map in the biology learning based on Quantum Teaching. This module is developed with 4-D models. Based on the research result, known that the learning module with obtaining an average 88,40 % is very valid category. The practicalities of module by teachers obtaining an average  90,73% is very practical category. The practicalities of module by student obtaining an average 83,20% is very practical category. Effectiveness of the module could be seen from the learning student activities, and student learning outcomes consisting of the result of cognitive and affective learning that showed mastery exceed the minimum mastery criteria, This research  can be concluded that the module with Peta pikiran in the biology learning based on Quantum Teaching on respiratory system and excretion  for grade XI student in Senior High School is valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

The low biology learning competence of the students in this research due to the teacher centered learning process, so that students do not understand the concept, less active in the discussions, embarrassed to ask, and less teamwork in the group. One of the efforts made to help students to solve the learning problem is by using the model of Problem Based Learning in the form of Question Student have strategy. The population of the study was a class XI students of SMAN 1 Bayang, registered in the first semester of the school year 2014/2015. The Sampling was done by using purposive sampling technique. This study was an experimental study by using design factorial 2 x 2, which PBL model in the form of QSH strategy as independent variables, initial knowledge as a moderator variable, and learning competencies as the dependent variable. The knowledge Instruments used is the objective test of 40 items that have been tested. The observer sheet for attitudes instruments and skills instruments to see the students' learning competencies in experimental class and control class. The results showed that: (1) The average value of students' knowledge competence in experimental class was higher than the control class (2) The average value of knowledge competency based on the high prior knowledge, experimental class was higher than the control class (3) The average value competency of knowledge based on the low intial knowledge of the students, experimental class students was higher than the control class (4) The average value of students' attitudes competence, experimental class was higher than the control class (5) The average value of competence skills, experimental class students was higher than the control class (6) There was no interaction of the learning model with the prior knowledge.

Abstract

One of the problem faced in education is the ineffective learning process yet learning included lesson plan design, teaching and learning process and assessment done by teachers is not effective yet. The purpose of this research is to know the biology learning process in SMPN 2 Kubung Kabupaten Solok that covers planning, implementation and evaluation .Based on finding of the research, it is known that biology learning process in SMPN 2 Kubung Kabupaten Solok: (a) lesson plan designed by teacher in term of content the format of the leaning purpose was not arranged based on ABCD format. The teaching material and time allocation ware not elaborated completely; (b) teaching and learning process was seen from both teacher and students aspect. The teaching process done by teacher was not based on Permendiknas No. 41. year 2007, paedogogic and profesional competence did not implement well teaching skill was not good and the teacher less motivated the students; (c) the assessment done by the teacher was only in cognitive domain while affective and physycomotor were not done by teacher in all meetings.

Abstract

Students’ activity and competency in learning Biology at VII A class of SMPN 4 Kerinci are not optimum yet. The variety of methods and strategies that were used did not increase students’ activity and competency yet. Thus, it is necessary to increase students’ activity and competency by implementing cooperative learning model of Think Pair Share type. The purpose af this research is to increase students’ activity and competency in learning Biology. This research was done at the second semester of VII A class SMPN 4 Kerinci in academic year 2013/2014. This research was done in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of three meetings. There are four phases in the cycle; planning, action, observation, reflection. The data were collected based on observation sheet and the results of final test. In this case, the observation sheet was fulfilled by observer and final test was given at the and of cycle. Observation sheet was used to know students’ activity and competency in learning process. The data based on students’ activity were analyzed by using the number of student percentage in each meeting. In the data analysis, it was found that in the both of the first and the second cycle. The students’ activity and competency were increase. Students’ activity was increase from 11,46%, 46,79% to 76,52%. The students’ achievement in pra cycle, the first and the second cycle were also increase. The students’ achievement involved the cognitive result, that is the number of students who passed were 45,83%, 62,50% to 87,50%, the students afective result were 29,69%, 49,99% to 75,34% and the students’ psychomotoric result were 34,36%, 51,64% to 67,93%. In general, it can be concluded that the use of cooperative learning model of Think Pair Share type can increase students’ activity and competency in learning Biology at VII A class of SMPN 4 Kerinci.

Abstract

The approach of this research called classroom action research. The subject of the research were the students of MTsN Bonjol class VIII4. This research aimed to describe the process of improving student learning activities and competencies used a contextual approach which is accompanied by worksheets on subjects MTsN Bonjol VIII4 biology class. This research used a qualitative approach supported quantitative approach. Data were obtained in the form of qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were collected through observation, field notes, and interviews. Quantitative data was obtained through cognitive tests, observation activity, affective and psychomotor competencies. The study findings suggest that the used of contextual approach accompanied worksheets accompanied can improved student learning activities and competencies. The increase was seen in each aspect of the learning activity, affective and psychomotor competencies ranging from pre cycle, the first cycle and second cycle. The increase was also seen in the results of the exam pre cycle is 48, in the first cycle 58.6, and 82.8 in the second cycle. Based on results of research, can concluded the used of contextual approach accompanied worksheets accompanied can improve student learning activities and competencies on subjects MTsN Bonjol VIII4 biology class.

Abstract

Biology learning is required the students’ understanding. In fact, the students tend to be more emphasize on memorizing rather than understanding, so that students cannot take benefits and meaning of the concept of biology learning. As a result, the quality of education become declined and  indirectly it decreases the value of the students’ character. One of efforts to resolve the problem is nuances character and contextual teaching aids. This study  aims to develop biology learning equipment nuances character and contextual in the material of  system reproduction  for Junior High School students in the form of lesson plans, teaching materials, students’ worksheets, and evaluation equipment that are valid, practical, and effective. The method of the research is the development research. Based on the result of the research, it was found that the learning media of biology  nuances character and contextual in material the system of reproduction for  Junior High School students that consist of lesson plan, teaching material, students’ worksheet and evaluation equipment  in the valid, practical, and effective category.
