Abstract

The low value of the students in the subjects of biology at Madrasah Aliyah Sumpur seen some of the factors that affect the learning outcomes one of which is the learning process. The learning process is one of the critical success factors in learning. To obtain a good learning must be supported by a good learning process and effective. In addition, the learning often occurs in terms of issues such as teachers, students, facilities, and infrastructure. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data validity checking technique used is the technique of triangulation. The data were analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of analysis of the learning process can be concluded as follows (1) Planning Learning in terms of the format is in accordance with aspects of assessment in the IPKG-1. Based on the study of documentation in terms of content, learning Implementation Plan (RPP) is not in accordance with the syllabus (2) The general teaching is in conformity with the appraisal aspect IPKG-2 (3) assessment / evaluation of learning is done in the capture of the cognitive aspects of the value daily tests. Affective and psychomotor assessments taken from the attitude and skills of the student assessment for learning (4) learning problems that occur specifically in learning biological medium category (2.23). The problem there in terms of teachers, students, facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

At alementary schools, textbooks are found to put emphasis only on what should be learned by the students rather than how should the materials be delivered to the students, in these books, students mostly read long explanations and the are rarely supported by picture which are believed to make the materials more understandable. As the result, the students are not able to be engaged in the learning process as they cannot comprehend the materials. This research is aimed to develop the valid, practical and effective and learning materials. This research used CTL to develop the learning materials in the form of 4D models which consisted of four stages that were define, design and disseminate. To define means analyzing the curriculum and the students’ needs. To design means designing the learning materials using CTL. To develop means validating the materials. After validating, the materials would be tried out to 30 students at the fifth grade of SDN 05 Kampung Pondok. There was not disseminating stage in this research. From the result of the research, it was proved that the learning materials in CTL were valid. The tryout has shown that the materials were practical to both teacher and the students. Based on the observations, it can be seen that the students were actively involved in the learning process and their grades were also improve significantly. In conclusions, learning materials built in CTL were valid (3,51%), practical (93,43%) and effective (88,58%).

Abstract

The learning process conducted in Senior High School (SMA) 5 Sungai Penuh has influenced student's learning outcomes in students' understanding of the subject matter protists. Poor understanding of the students has been one of the causes for the low student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning process of biology in protist at Grade X Senior High School (SMA) 5 Sungai Penuh which includes lesson planning, teaching and learning implementation, evaluation of learning, practical implementation, as well as learning problems. The results showed that by IPKG about learning plan (RPP) which is created by the teacher, implementation of teaching and learning by IPKG about teaching and learning implementation, evaluating of learning according IPKG assessment of evaluation, and assessment of learning problems.

Abstract

The biology learning process in class VIII.3 of MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang was still teacher-centered learning. The learning methods which were used less varied, it made the students got low activities and competence in learning. The were still many students not active, who were reluctant to ask questions and always wait for direction by teacher. This research was designed for improving the student’s activities and biology learning competence through approachment contextual based lesson study. This was a classroom action research. This was conducted in two cycles in which each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subject of the research was the students in class VIII.3 MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang. The instruments of the research were observation sheet, a result of learning test and range of notation. The data was collected through observation and a learning achievement test. The data obtained then was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The result of data analysis cycle I and cycle II shows the increase in student learning activity and competence. Learning activities of students increase from 45,70% to 64,67%. Cognitive learning outcomes of students in cycle I and cycle II also increase from 71,79% to 89,7%. Affective learning outcomes of students from 54,7% to 67,14% and  psychomotor learning outcomes of students from 73,40% to 76,49%. The teacher’s activities improved from 79,45% to 93,31%. In general, it was concluded that employing the approachment contextual based lesson study in biology learning could improve the learning activities and learning competence of the students in class VIII.3 MTsN Lubuk Buaya.

Abstract

The module is  media that make students learn independently so that it could be known how far  the learners master the learning material. The modules that is developed in this research oriented Mind Map is equipped by Crosswords for seventh grade of Junior High School. Merging MM with Crosswords in this module also aims to encourage the students to learn while playing, so that the presentation of material interested for the learners. The purpose of this research is to produce a biology  modules oriented Mind Map equipped by Crosswords for seventh grade of Junior High School and to known the validity, the practicalities, and the effectiveness of the module. Type of this research is research development with a procedural model. Module was developed by 4-D model (four-D models), which consists of 4 phases that is Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. This study was conducted to stage dissiminate, but for dissiminate phases  can only be done on a limited class. Learning module test results showed that the average validity = 3.70 (very valid), the practicalities of teachers = 3.44 (practical) and learners = 3.52 (very practical). The test results demonstrate the effectiveness of the modules that students actively learn and has a high passing grade for each competency. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the biology modules oriented Mind Map equipped by Crosswords has developed a valid, practical, and effective used for seventh grade of Junior High School.

Abstract

This research based on the previous observation and interview which was done at STAIN Kerinci, it was found that learning materials used in teaching plants physiology did not help much in constructing students’ knowledge.  This research was a developmental research which used 4-D models consisting of define, design, develop and disseminate. After the module had been designed, it was validated by four validators. To see the practicality of the module, the researcher tried out the module to VI B Biology Education students                                  of STAIN Kerinci. This activity was observed by an observer.                                                            The effectiveness test of the module is tried out to VI A Biology education students of STAIN Kerinci.  The result of the validation test showed that the constructivism-oriented module with mind map was very valid either content and construct. Based on the result of the data practicality showed that the module was practical to be used in teaching plants physiology. The module was also effective; it is showed through the improvement of student activity, motivation and achievement.

Abstract

Animal development is one of subject that difficult for students to understanding, because the material full of process. The process can’t be visualized. The lecture difficult to describe of gastrulation and the media to visualize the gastrulation are not available. Therefore, is important to produce media that will be used to visualize gastrulation process  and make students understanding. The purpose of this research is to produce interactive media in gastrulation material and  that media is valid, practical, and effective. This was a developmental research with a procedural model. Models  and procedure of development was developed with 4-D model (four-D model), which stands of 4 phases that is define, design, develop and disseminate. Define phase analized curriculum and student. Design phase made interactive media. Develop phase to validated and test-driving cofines to student at State University of Padang, to know practicalities and effectiveness of interactive media. Disseminate phase is conducted with separated media unlimited. The interactive media just given to students at State University of Padang.  Data obtained to determinine interactive media derived from validation sheet. The data required to determine practicality was obtained from questionnaire of lectures and students. Effectiveness data it was obtained from activity and  mark of student. Average validity of interactive media was 3,96. Practicalities  by lectures was 80 and practicality by student was 97,12. Effectiveness of  interactive media  that seen from activity and their learning achievement, showed that it was effective. The result of the observation showed that interactive media  valid, practical and effective. Based on the results, this research can be concluded that the Develop of interactive media based on constructivism of gastrulation material in animal development  subject is valid, practical and effective.

Abstract

One of the reasons for low success in studies is the variation in the teaching methods and few teaching materials, especially ecosystem matter, thus producing poorly motivated students with low esteem to learn on their own depending on individual ability. The purpose of this research was to develop a Biology learning module containing case study on Ecosystem topics for the first year students of Senior High School which was valid, practical and effective This was a developmental research which used Plom model that consisted of three phases including 1) preliminary investigation phase, 2) planning and realization phase, and 3) try-out and evaluation phase. In the initial investigation phase, an interview and observation were done to identify the problems in learning. Further, analysis of curriculum, analysis of students and analysis of learning sources were conducted. In the planning and realization phase, the module was designed and it then was validated by experts (lecturers and teachers).  The practicability was measured by filling in the practicality questionnaire which was done by the teacher and the students. The effectiveness of the module developed was seen through observation and the students’ learning achievement. The students’ achievement in learning was seen through daily tests. The data gotten was analyzed descriptively. The research results showed that the developed module is valid from didactic, structural, and technical aspects. From the practicability stage, it was found out that the module is practical. The use of the module can make a student active in learning with a high percentage passing the school-set minimum grade (KKM), whereby 90% of students at SMAN 10, Tebo district scoring ≥ 78 with 93% of their counterparts at SMAN 8, Tebo district scoring ≥ 75. It can, therefore, be concluded that the developed Biology learning module containing case studies on Ecosystem topics for the First Year students of Senior High School had been valid, practical and effective to be used as the learning materials.

Abstract

The main goal of the study is the occurrence of behavioral changes into better of the students. It can be realized if teachers carry out effectively as educators, included organize the subject matters into teaching materials. One teaching material can be helpfully used to help students understand the materials is module because it can stimulates students to learn individually  at both school and home based on their own learning pace. Character education emphasis leads the students to know the importance of understanding the  character in life. Inquiry approach will help students improve their understanding of the. Based on the needs, the researcher developd a characterized module equipped with students’ worksheet by using inquiry approach for junior high school students grade IX at first semester. Type of this researh is development research. This module is developed by using model of developing IDI (Instructional Development Institute) consisting of three phases namely defining, developing, and evaluating. Data collection is done through validation and test of developed module to get the data practicality and effectivity. Modul planning of the designed module is validated by five (5) experts and practitioners and tested on limited basis at grade VIII students of SMPN 2 Tanjung Baru. The result of the research shows module in valid category. Based in the limited test, it is known that module is in practical category for both teachers and students. The result of students’ activity observation indicates that module is in very effective category. Students’ scores shows mastery of learning over minimum standard which means that module is in effective category. Researcher concludes that module equipped with students’ worksheet by using inquiry approach for junior high school students grade IX first semester is valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

The material of organic system at biology lesson grade XI second semester requires the students to know about structures, functions, process and abnormalities of organic systems. These materials are attractive because it is related to students’ physiology that needs the appropriate media. One media that can be used is modules, but teachers have never designed and used it in learning process yet. To overcome the problem, using modul completed with pictures and worksheet is the solution offered which uses natural investigation approach at organic system material. Therefore, it is necesserily conducted a research which is intended to produce the valid, practical, and efective pictured modul completed with student worksheet by using natural investigation approach at organic system material for senior high school students grade XI of science.
