Abstract

The limitation of space and time became the obstacle in the effort to improve the learning quality. Lecturer as the fasilitator got difficulty to present a media so that abstract material can be easily understood. The purpose of this research is to find out the characteristics and the worthiness of instructional video of magnetism. The procedure of this research suitable with the method of this Research and Development (R&D). The focus of this research is development of instructional video of magnetism in Basic Physics 2. Instrument used in this research are Worthiness Questionare in the form of Likert scale consist of Validation Questionare from media expert and material expert also Questionare of student response to the instructional video of magnetism. Validation result from material expert up to 89,58 % and 77, 08 %. While the validation result from media expert up to 78,13 % and 87,00 % and result the questionare of student response have the percentage of 85,83%, 88,73%, and 87,50%. The characteristics of instructional video of magnetism according to the aspect of media include Maintanable, Usability, Compatibility, Reusable, Good ilustration, Good Audio, Communicative and Good Visualisation. According to the aspect of material include: Suitable to the theme of magnetism, Accurate, Most Up to Date, and Good Material Output.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an instrument of performance assessment with valid, reliable, effective, and feasible criteria. This research used Research and Development (R&D) method. The procedure includes: problem and identification problem, collecting data, product design, product design validation, product design revision, limited-scale product trial, product revision I, product application trial, product revision II and final product. Result of the research shows that performance assessment instrument that developed using scientific approach that consist of using tools and material activity, observing activity, write data observation, and analyze data observation. Performance assessment instrument is stated valid with the mean percentage score of design by two validator 97.92% and the evaluation 100%. Instrument is stated reliable, with coefficient of reliability in average rating of the three raters are 0.9378 and coefficient of reliability in average rating for each rater is 0.8341. Instrument is stated effective with the percentage of the difference assessment is 1.66%. Instrument is stated very feasible with the mean percentage score 94.53%..

Abstract

This study aimed to determine variety of students misconception, as well as its causes and impact. Design of the study was a survey study, which was a study to collect data from a certain natural place (not created one), but the researcher did a treatment in collecting data. Samples were taken by using purposive sampling method, and they were classes of XI IPA 3 and XI IPA 5. The samples were collected by observation, documentation, questionnaire, test and interview. Result of study indicated that highest level of knowing the concept was on fluids and static fluids concepts as much as 40,2%, level of knowing-but-not-sure was on adhession and cohession concept as much as 11,8%, while the highest level of misconception was on Archimedes law concept as much as 54,5% and the highest level of not-knowing was on viscosity and its units concept as much as 72,5%. There were some factors causing the students misconception, such as, learning process, students thinking way, material books, experience and lack of knowledge.

Abstract

Indonesia need strategy to overcome the crisis of character, one of which is through the integrated character education. The purpose of this research is to know the implementation of PBI model that helped by worksheets with scientific approach, the increasing of knowledge learning result, the developing of character, and the increasing of skill learning result,. The method that used in this research is pre experimental with Pre-test and Post-test Group design. This research results show that implementation of PBI that helped by phisics worksheets  with scientific approach can improve learning outcomes of knowledge in medium category, it can also develop character especially honesty, discipline, curiosity, and communicative, and improve skills learning outcomes in medium category.

Abstract

Students of Physics Education of Semarang State University often find it difficult to understand the lecture material. During difficult times, students usually find references on the internet, ask a friend who already understand, or ask to the senior. Students have a device that can be used to access the internet. Online lectures discussion forum can be used as a discussion facility when they find it difficult to understand the lecture material. Online lectures discussion forum developed with ADDIE development model that includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Online lectures discussion forum contains the list of courses that can be accessed by students via the Internet through the website diskusi.belajarfisika.web.id. Feasibility of online lectures discussion forum was measured through assessment sheets of feasibility test from validators and questionnaire responses from students. The results of the feasibility test from validator and student responses indicate that criteria are eligible. Results of the questionnaire about students' perceptions of learning through online lectures discussion forum show that physics educations students of Semarang State University have good perceptions of learning through online lectures discussion forums.

Abstract

Learning science is learning that requires teachers to implement various learning models in which are creative, innovative, interesting, fun, effective, and varied so that competence and expectations are able to be accomplished. This research aimed to discover implementation of science learning models in KTSP based and 2013 Curriculum based Junior High Schools. This research used observation method by using video as the tool and questionnaire. The results of this research discovered that students activities in paying attention to teachers in percentage at Junior High School coded A, Junior High School coded B, and Junior High School coded C were at 59,16% 46,06%, 85,80%. In 2013 Curriculum based Junior High School, at Junior High School coded X, Junior High School coded Y, Junior High School coded Z, students activities were representing experiments results, doing experiments,  and doing exercises in which are at 24,50%, 32,78%, and 55,23%. Moreover, the results of questionnaire analysis in Junior High Schools based KTSP were at 76%, 76%, and 72%. Furthermore, in Junior High Schools based Curriculum 2013, were at 88,02%, 84,38%, and 86%.

Abstract

The research aims was to understand the influence of approach JAS with understanding the concept of students. This research used experimental with the form of the control grup posttest design. The research sample used was classes XI TKR 1 and XI TKR 2 SMK N 10 Semarang. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique. This research obtained results of average cognitive value of experiment class 76,89 and control class 74,60 and affective assessment experiment class is including on very good criteria and control class including on good criteria. The analysis result of concept understanding profile of experiment class that showed highest percentage is classifying and generalize.  Percentage that gained is 93,33%. Based on that result it can be concluded that a class using JAS method have a higher average value affective value on the very good criteria.

Abstract

The aims of the research are describing physic story book characteristics, testing suitability, effectiveness, and readability of physics story book. The research using research and development (R&D) with media expert, material expert, and students as research respondents. The characteristics of story book is developed as follows: (a) story book is arranged by two substances (Intrinsic and Extrinsic), (b) how the story book present are very close with reader’s life and not act like a teacher, (c) the story book is arranged with interesting and simple illustration, (d) the story book is assembled with anatomical book which are proper for junior high school students. The result of analytical suitability test of story book by media expert are obtained 78% with suitable criteria, analytical suitability test of physic story book by material expert are obtained 95% with very suitable category. All of the suitability result of the physic story book are obtained 84% with suitable category. The counting result of the effectiveness from the story book are 86%  with high criteria. The physics story book which has been arranged obtaining readability 62% meant the physics story book have readability that easy to comprehend. Based on the result of the research, this story book are suitable to be used as media supplement for physics learning.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to produce a worksheet with POE characteristics, how its properness, and how students’ reasoning and understanding improvement after its application. Research and Development (R&D) method with Pre-experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design is used in this study. The procedures are: potential and problem, information collecting, product design, product validation, revision, small scale trial, revision, application. The properness test uses properness questionnaire. The data of students’ reasoning and conceptual understanding is taken from pretest and posttest. The properness test results indicate that Electrodynamics worksheet based on POE strategy is very proper as a teaching-material. Students’ reasoning and concept understanding improvement are in medium criteria after its application.

Abstract

Inactivity and less varied learning model of science used by teachers in Tegal Region causes students to understand less about the concept of science lesson. This research aims to determine (1) the difference in the increase of science literacy skills of junior high school students in Tegal District between using the conceptual learning model with the lecture model, (2) the students' literacy ability profile. Experimental design study with pretest-posttest control group design. The sample of this research use the students of class VIII SMP X Slawi, SMP Y Dukuhwaru and MTs Z. Each school is randomly selected two classes, as experiment class and control class. The variables measured are the improvement of science literacy ability, the availability of science as the body of knowledge, science as a way of thinking, science as the process of investigation and interaction of science, technology and society. Wake up is the improvement of literacy ability of science with CUPs better than lecture method. The profile of each school increases as follows: SMP Negeri X Slawi has an added value of 0.12 SMP Negeri Y Dukuhwaru 0.36 and MTs Z 0.07. The high-down science literacy enhancement profile is as follows: Interaction of science, technology and society, science as a body of knowledge, science as a process of investigation, and science as a way of thinking. The results of this study show that the conceptual learning model Conceptual Procedure (CUPs) can effectively improve the science literacy ability of middle school students with medium and high category in Tegal regency. Less effective for low category SMP.
