Abstract

The study investigates how managerial competency (MC) and entrepreneurial orientation (EO) impact the business success (BS) of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the food sector, with an examination of religiosity as a moderating factor. Purposive sampling was employed to select a sample of 122 owners and workers from culinary businesses on Lombok Island, Indonesia. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS 22. The findings underscore MC's critical role in enhancing BS, alongside EO's significant influence on overall company performance. Moreover, the study reveals that religiosity plays a moderating role in shaping the relationships between MC, EO, and BS. Furthermore, our research connects these insights to the concept of open innovation. By integrating aspects of religiosity into the implementation of open innovation in SMEs, not only can the quality of innovation be enhanced, but it can also cultivate a positive reputation that contributes to increased business success.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the determinants of regional disparities in East Java Province. This study utilized panel data, incorporating research locations across 38 regencies in East Java, with a data series spanning from 2016 to 2020. Spatial panel data models were employed to address the research objective, specifically examining the impact of spatial and non-spatial factors on disparities in East Java. The study's findings indicated that the Spatial Autoregressive (SAR) model was the most effective for estimating disparities in the region. The effects of each variable are as follows: the average duration of schooling and investment had positive and significant effects on disparities, while the variable of open unemployment rate did not exhibit any significant effect. Additionally, there is a spatial effect in the form of an endogenous interaction effect, signifying that the extent of disparities is influenced by the disparities in neighboring areas.

Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to determine the effect of bank lending channel on household consumption expenditure in Nigeria. The influence of the channel as a transmission route to household consumption has not been relatively investigated in many developing nations like Nigeria. In view of this, the aim of the study is achieved using the non-linear econometric approach such as the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) on annual secondary data obtained from the United Nations Statistical Division Database and Central Bank of Nigeria Database. The study found that lending rates in maximum and prime are significantly affect real household consumption expenditure in Nigeria. In addition, evidence from the study suggest that growth rate of the per capita income and changes in the domestic prices of nominal output significantly affect the response variable The study discussed the implications of the study for the bank lending channel with policy recommendations.

Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to explore the intricate relationship between learning orientation, business strategy, and firm performance among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia. By examining the impacts of innovation, proactiveness, and risk-taking on both business strategy and learning orientation, this research aims to shed light on the factors influencing SME success. Surveys were administered to a purposive sample of 300 SMEs in Jakarta and West Java, and data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings indicate that innovation positively influences both business strategy and learning orientation, whereas proactiveness has a minimal impact on business strategy but significantly affects learning orientation. Furthermore, risk-taking emerges as a crucial driver of both business strategy and learning orientation. This study contributes by providing empirical evidence on the significance of entrepreneurial traits in shaping SME performance and offers practical insights for enhancing organizational sustainability and growth in the Indonesian business context.

Abstract

This study investigates how natural resources and institutional quality (IQ) impact the economic growth of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Based on data annually from 1985 to 2022 using ordinary least squares regression the findings highlight that human capital development, inflation, foreign direct investment (FDI), oil rents, forest rents, political instability, conflict, and corruption significantly hinder the country's economic progress. This suggests that despite its abundant natural resources, the DRC faces more economic challenges than benefits from them. As a result, the study recommends stringent monitoring and oversight of mineral revenue management, establishment of stable political conditions, and aggressive measures to combat corruption and conflict. These actions are crucial in transforming the current curse of natural resources into a potential blessing for the country.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of audit committee size, frequency of audit committee meetings, and audit committee independence on the financial performance of property and real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2017-2022. The research method employed is a quantitative descriptive approach and purposive sampling; the analysis is conducted on 170 financial statements from 34 companies. Hypothesis testing results reveal that while audit committee size does not affect financial performance, its independence has a positive impact. Company size amplifies the negative effects of audit committee size but does not influence the impact of meeting frequency or independence on financial outcomes. Overall, the audit committee plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of financial information and mitigating risks. The findings highlight the importance of transparency and accuracy in financial reporting and the role of the audit committee in ensuring the integrity of the information presented to the public.

Abstract

Kartu Prakerja Programme is an end-to-end digital initiative aimed at enhancing the skills of the workforce through skilling, upskilling, and reskilling. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in its initial three years of implementation, the Kartu Prakerja Programme was executed under a semi-social assistance framework, providing training support and distributing social assistance. The objective of this research is to examine the public service innovation implemented by the Kartu Prakerja Programme and its impact on various aspects influencing community welfare and quality of life, particularly in West Java. This research is conducted using quantitative methods, employing questionnaire survey results from program recipients in West Java during 2020-2022 as the primary dataset. The study's findings demonstrate that the Kartu Prakerja Programme significantly contributes to enhancing the welfare and quality of life of individuals in Indonesia, including West Java. These contributions encompass the stimulation of employment and entrepreneurship, income growth, accelerated financial inclusion, enhanced competency, productivity, competitiveness, and promotion of lifelong education.

Abstract

This paper empirically examines the influence of materiality and stakeholder engagement on the quality of sustainability reports in manufacturing companies in Indonesia from 2017 to 2022. The quality of sustainability reporting is measured using four index dimensions: relative quantity of disclosure, density, accuracy, and management orientation. Materiality and stakeholder engagement are assessed using a content analysis methodology, with relevance of disclosure as the measurement criterion. The regression analysis reveals that materiality has a significant negative effect on the quality of sustainability reporting. Conversely, stakeholder engagement has a significant positive effect on the quality of sustainability reporting. These findings highlight a potential trade-off: an excessive emphasis on materiality may lead to the omission of other critical components, thereby reducing the overall quality and comprehensiveness of sustainability reporting.

Abstract

This research investigates the correlation between customer e-retention (ERT) and various motivational factors of customer engagement, including website design (WD), reliability (RL), and perceived ease of use (PEU). Furthermore, this research was designed to test several mediating factors, including customer e-trust (OT) and customer e-satisfaction (EST), towards customer e-retention (ERT). This research applied a method of purposive sampling to 256 respondents. AMOS employs the Structural Equation Model (SEM) for data processing. This research found that ERT is influenced by reliability (RL), perceived ease of use (PEU), and customer e-trust (OT). Furthermore, two factors do not affect customer e-retention: website design (WD) and customer e-satisfaction (EST). In response to these findings, it is recommended that more attention be paid to building customer engagement and motivation to retain customers online. This may include the quality of information on the website, visual quality, and ease of use.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between company growth and employee compensation in publicly listed companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2021. Using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method and a total sample of 982 companies, the study reveals several significant findings. The results indicate that there is no significant relationship between company growth and increased employee compensation, and vice versa. Company growth is more influenced by the level of assets held, while employee compensation is more influenced by company leverage. Interestingly, increases in assets and Tobin's Q actually decrease employee compensation. Managerial implications of these findings suggest that strategies for enhancing company growth and employee compensation policies need to be managed independently based on the specific factors affecting each aspect. Focusing on asset enhancement and effective leverage management is key to efficiently managing company growth and compensation policies. This study provides new insights into the dynamics between company growth and employee compensation, emphasizing the importance of integrated strategic management for achieving long-term sustainability and success.
