Abstract

This study is an attempt to understand the concept of culture as a creative and cultural influence of external factors in fostering creativity. Culture is believed to be one of the aspects that can facilitate the growth of individual creativity. Creative culture as behavior, activity or way of life of a person or group of people embedded within it an element of novelty to life effective, communicative and refer to attitudes toward the social situation and the phenomenon of life. This study attempted to reveal the dominance of internal and external forces that encourage individual creativity. Of the 198 participants were high school students known that the external aspect dominates 63% as the force that drives one's creativity. Socializing creative culture from an early age is expected to facilitate the growth of creativity in the individual.

Abstract

Communication is an essential tool for humans in fulfil the necessities of life and to attain the purpose of it. Communication and culture are two things that can not be separated like two sides of a coin. Studying communication means learn the culture, and viceversa. The purpose if this research to describe the profile of intercultural communication to students. The instrument that used was the inventory Guttman scale. Respondents of this research are students of IKIP PGRI Pontianak from every level of I, III, and V semester, with the total number of respondents are 66 people. The results showed in generally that the profile of intercultural communication among students has been good, where the cognitive, affective and psychomotor of student in every level of semester and ethnic are not much different. Hopefully this research can bethe foundation ofthe development of communication skills counseling on student guidance and counseling. Proper communication will bring success in relationship counseling for counselors and clients who come from different cultures.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) describe the characteristics of deprivation of culture in the students of secondary school (SMP), which is in an environment characterized by cultural deprivation. 2) Know the difference in strength characteristics of cultural deprivation boys and girls, as well as the differences between classes. Participants of this study lived in the school environment and farm workers Banten, they are Mitra Persada junior high school students of class VII, VIII and IX amounting to 90 people and consists of 37 boys and 40 girls. Measuring instrument used is an instrument consisting of 30 items and has been tested for validity and reliability, the instrument was made based on the indicators of three (3) main aspects of deprivation of culture, namely: 1) Development Property, 2) Language, 3) Attitude. And measurement using a questionnaire using the Likert scale. From there Descriptive Test standard deviation is very large (more than 30% of the mean) showed a large variation or the existence of a considerable gap from the lowest score and the highest score. Based on the calculations above descriptive, known from the mean total score of social deprivation in the can that is 79.12 which is 64.85% of the total score of each item that is ideal 122. It can be concluded that the impact of deprivation Mitra Persada junior high school students is still relatively high. While the Mann-Whitney test concluded that there are significant differences in the characteristics of cultural deprivation boys and girls. And grade level provides a significant effect on cultural deprivation.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to produce a profile of cultural intelligence of student. Participants are students of Teacher Education Program-Counseling (PPG-BK) SM3T Makassar State University. Number of participants as many as 16 students consisting of 13 women and 3 men. The instrument used is the scale of cultural intelligence which is the result of adaptation and modification of Cultural Intelligence Scale developed by Early and Ang (2003). Data analysis used descriptive data analysis to describe the level of cultural intelligence of students. The results of this study indicate that students' cultural intelligence are mostly located in the high category. On average the results of each dimension is found that the dimensions of CI Metaconitive have the highest rates, followed by CI Motivation, and the lowest CI Cognitive Behavior. Discussion, limitations and recommendations discussed in the study.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to comprehend multicultural competency of counselor in Dayak tribe in the Middle Kalimantan with etnography type. The data analysis that used is data and analysis triangulation towards culture theme.  Accordingly, the culture values of Dayak ethnic that reflects on Huma Betang filosophy consists of four main values, they are togetherness, honesty, equality and tolerance. They are aimed to actualize society life of the Middle Kalimantan that full of peace, safety and harmony. Counselor absorps the culture values to actualize multikultural competency on counselor.

Abstract

The research aims to learn profile of identity status and cultural value orientation of teacher prospective student. The research method that used is descriptive by qualitative approach. The research sample involves 80 students of education program at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia that are chosen by using technique of multi stage cluster sampling. The collected data by questionnaire is analysized statisticaly. The research result shows that majority of teacher prospective students is on low cultural identity status. They are forecloser and diffusion. They who are in achievement status and moratorium, that is accused as high identity status, each of them is belonged by least of forth of students quantity. Four values that become strongest preferences for students are economic value, science value, social value and religious value. Some students that have achievement cultural identity status belong strong orientation on science value, then religious value and social value and economic value. Moratorium status put stronger orientation on economic value, social, aesthetic, and religious and the last is science. Foreclosure status put more orientation on economic value, social, and power. Besides, diffusion status put more orientation on economic value, power, social, aesthetic and religious.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the culture of peaceful student Yogyakarta, based on the background of gender, ethnicity and other aspects of the culture of peace. The research approach using quantitative descriptive type. The population of the research is the Yogyakarta State University student. The research sample using simple random sampling a number of 210 students. Number of samples 78 male students and 132 female students. Collecting data using questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive test and chi square test different. The research result is a culture of peaceful student Yogyakarta State Universisitas including high category. Faculty and ethnic backgrounds have differences in culture of peaceful student. No gender differences in student culture of peace. Students were high in this aspect of the culture of peace is love, harmony, tolerance, compassion or pity, caring and sharing and interdepency, while the introduction of aspects of the lives of others and thank aspects including very high category.
