Abstract

Rice is a staple food source for most of Indonesia's population. The efforts which increase rice production are through plant protection from pests and diseases. The alternative to control pests and diseases used the application of biocontrol agents and liquid smoke. This research aimed to determine the effect of liquid smoke and biocontrol agents in suppressing pest and disease attacks on rice plants. This research used two treatments, liquid smoke and biocontrol agents were applied and conventional ricefield (control with chemical pesticides). Observation parameters included types of pests and diseases found, pest populations found, disease severity, the weight of 1000 grains, and wet weight of grain per hectare. Data were analyzed using a t-test with an accuracy level of 95%. The results showed that biocontrol agents and liquid smoke in rice plants could reduce the population of brown planthopper, suppress bacterial leaf blight, and blast disease, and increase rice yields.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the prevalence of myiasis in buffalo at Moa island. Data collection was carried out from April to December 2020 using a survey method in 3 villages selected by stratified random sampling. Samples of  98 buffaloes were selected using the detect disease method and taken from four villages. The results showed that the prevalence rate of myiasis in buffalo was 7.14% with details of the prevalence at the village level, namely Tounwawan 9%, Nyama 6%, and Klis 4%. Myiasis was founded in adult buffalo and it was caused by the Chrysomya bezziana. The number of flies per site infestation was 11-23 heads with a duration of 3.09-4.17minutes. The favorable site for oviposition were the neck, back, thighs, and vulva. The predisposing factors that caused the injury were headers, bird pecks, and bush punctures. Maggots had burrowed deep inside causing necrotic cavities, malodorous, and reddish-brown fluid.

Abstract

This research aimed to obtain the dose and a tillage system of nitrogen fertilizer and tillage system for optimal cucumber growth and yield. The experiment was designed in a factorial randomized block design. Treatments tested were used tillage system (P) with three levels, namely no-tillage system (P1), minimum tillage system (P2), and intensive tillage system (P3). The other factor use dose of nitrogen fertilizer (D) with three levels, namely 100 kg ha-1 (D1), 150 kg ha-1 (D2), and 200 kg ha-1 (D3) in each combination repeated three times. The results showed that the tillage system with 200 kg ha-1  dose of nitrogen significantly increased in growth and yield of cucumber plants.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the dosage of organic fertilizer and the number of seeds in the planting hole on the growth and yield of sweet corn. The research was designed in a factorial randomized block design. Treatments tested used fertilization dose (P) consisting of three levels, namely dose of organic fertilizer 1.5 tons ha-1 (P1), the dose of organic fertilizer 2 tons ha-1 (P2), and the dose of organic fertilizer 2.5 tons ha-1 (P3). The other factor used several seeds in  hole-1 (J) consisting of three levels, i.e. one seed of plant hole-1 (J1),  two seeds on plant hole-1 (J2), and three seeds on plant hole-1 (J3) each combination repeated three times. The results showed that a combination of organic fertilizer 2.5 ton ha-1 with three seed planting hole-1 significantly increased in growth and yield of sweet corn.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the level and type of shellfish flour in feed formulations to increase egg production and quality. The method used was a nested complete randomized design consisting of 3 treatments and three replications, each replication using three chickens. The treatment used was several sources of calcium in the basal diet, namely without a calcium source 0%, green clamshell flour 1% 2% 3%, and scallop shell flour 1% 2% 3%. The variables observed were feed consumption, FCR, HDP, hen mash, whole egg index, white egg index, egg yolk index, egg yolk weight, eggshell thickness, and eggshell weight. The results showed that the treatment gave a very significant difference (P0.01) in feed consumption, and significantly different (P0.05) on the egg yolk index and eggshell weight and did not provide a significant difference (P0.05). on FCR, HDP, and hen mash.

Abstract

Hydroponics uses water as a growing medium and a source of nutrients for the plant. Water conditions suitable for plant growth have a pH of 5.6-6.5. Water conditions in Pasuruan City tend to be alkaline with pH 8. It is necessary to give an acid solution to reduce the pH value. This research aimed to study the effect of nitric acid, phosphoric acid, and sulfuric acid on fluctuation in the pH of hydroponics. The study used a Randomized Block Design with nine treatments: Kebonsari Village water + nitric acid; Kebonsari Village water  + phosphoric acid; Kebonsari Village water + sulfuric acid; Bugul Kidul Village water + nitric acid; Bugul Kidul Village water + phosphoric acid; Bugul Kidul Village water + sulfuric acid; PDAM water + nitric acid; PDAM water + phosphoric acid; and PDAM water + sulfuric acid. The results showed that the phosphoric acid solution was able to maintain the pH in the optimal range of 6,8 – 7,1 for all types of water, more stable than nitric acid and sulfuric acid solutions. Plants cultivated with PDAM water with phosphoric acid solution showed high leaf chlorophyll content (48,480 mg/L), leaf Nitrogen (4,38%), and plant weight (1.807,00 g).

Abstract

The aimed of this study was to obtain the dose of fermented chicken manure and inorganic nitrogen fertilizer for the high growth and yield of cabbage. The study used a Randomized Block Design with one factor, namely the use of a combination of fermented chicken manure and inorganic nitrogen fertilizer. The first treatment was fermented chicken manure 15 tons ha-1 combined with 75% inorganic nitrogen fertilizer; The second treatment was fermented chicken manure 15 tons ha-1 combined with 50% inorganic nitrogen fertilizer; The third treatment was fermented chicken manure 20 tons ha-1 combined with 75% inorganic nitrogen fertilizer; The fourth treatment was fermented chicken manure 20 tons ha-1 combined with 50% inorganic nitrogen fertilizer; The fifth treatment was fermented chicken manure 25 tons ha-1 combined with 75% inorganic nitrogen fertilizer; The sixth treatment was fermented chicken manure 25 tons ha-1 combined with 50% inorganic nitrogen fertilizer. The results showed the effect of the dose of fermented chicken manure and inorganic nitrogen fertilizer on the growth and yield of cabbage crop, the application of fermented chicken manure 25 tons ha -1 combined with inorganic nitrogen fertilizer as much as 75% produces the highest yield on all observation parameters with the highest crop weight weighing 27.37 tons ha-1.

Abstract

The research aimed to study the interaction between the effects of various types of mulch and fertilizers on the growth and production of long beans. The research used a randomized block design, Factor I type of mulch consisting of 3 levels: M0 = No mulch, M1 = black and silver plastic mulch, and M2 = Straw mulch. Factor II is the type of fertilizer: including P1 = NPK Mutiara 600 kg/ha, P2 = biological Petrobio 90 kg/ha, P3 = NPK Mutiara 50% + biological Petrobio 50%. The results showed the effects of various types of mulch and fertilizers have significant interaction between the growth of leaf number and fruit weight of long beans, namely M1P3 (black silver mulch and application of 50% pearl fertilizer and 50% biological Petrobio).
