Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of scarification and gibberellin soaking on seed stimuli in melon. The study used a factorial randomized block design with two treatment factors. The first treatment factor, mechanical interruption of seed dormancy (F), consisted of two treatments: F1 = control (no treatment) and F2 = seed scarification, while the second treatment factor, ZPT gibberellin soaking (G), consisted of four levels: G1 = 0 ppm gibberellin, G2 = 20 ppm gibberellin, G3 = 40 ppm gibberellin, and G4 = 40 ppm gibberellin. The parameters observed were the early vegetative growth of melon, i.e. plant height (cm) and number of leaves (stems). The results showed that The results showed that interaction occurred due to the scarification treatment and Gibberellin soaking, with the best results brought by the scarification treatment with a Gibberellin concentration of 30 ppm on the parameters of plant height and number of leaves.

Abstract

This research aims to provide information about Fusarium oxysporum fungus attacks and their control. Several published research results show the severity of attacks is up to 80% and is economical. Fusarium oxysporum fungal infection occurs on the roots and tubers, due to root infection and tuber rot, discoloration, and necrosis of the base layer of the tuber. Furthermore, the fungal mycelium grows rapidly and an anomaly can be seen starting from the base of the tuber and spreading to the top and sides so that the stem grows longer, the leaves do not grow upright but curve, twist or become molten so that the plant wilts and ultimately the plant dies. Control using technical culture methods for cultivating healthy plants and crop rotation systems, using organic materials as a medium for anti-antagonistic microbes, applying the biological agent's Actinomycete, Streptomyces, Trichoderma gloeosporioides and exploiting the potential of anti-pathogenic microbes in the rhizosphere.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the sustainability of the SIPLO program in rice cultivation in Jati Sari Village, Pakisaji District, Malang Regency. Data was collected from rice farmers participating in the SIPLO demonstration field in Jati Sari Village. The data was quantitatively analyzed using RAP-SIPLO, an improved version of RAP-FISH software, to determine the sustainability status of the SIPLO program. The results showed that the SIPLO program received a high score of 53.02 in terms of sensitive ITAS values of the sustainability indicators of the multidimensional scaling (MDS) from each of the following dimensions: ecological, economic, social, and technological; 51.33, 69.28, and 63.65. These figures indicate that the sustainability of the SIPLO program falls in the "sufficient" category. The SIPLO technique was first applied to rice (Oryza sativa L.) in Jati Sari Village, Pakisaji District, Malang Regency, and was found to be sufficiently effective.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to ascertain how different types of manure and bulbil size affected the growth of porang seedlings. This study used a Randomized Block Design with two factorials, namely, treatment of manure (P) with four kinds, namely chicken manure, cow manure, and goat manure The second factor is the size of bulbil with three types of size such as small (2 - 3,25 gr), medium (6 - 6,85 gr) and big (9 - 9,32 gr). The parameters observed in this study were plant height (cm), stem diameter (cm), leaf width (cm), number of leaves (strands), and percentage of finished seedlings. The results showed that Bulb weight 9 gr – 9.32 gr gives the best average in the plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, number of roots, and percentage of finished seedlings. Goat manure gives the best average for plant height, leaf area, and number of roots. There was an interaction between bulbil weight and type of manure on parameters of plant height.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of agricultural extension for the shallot commodity in the Barokah Jaya farmer group in Beji Village, Junrejo District, Batu City. This research used a scoring system or score scale and administration technique. Training, guidance, and evaluation are the success metrics used in this research. The results show that the shallot farming extension activities of the Barokah Jaya Farmers Group can be assessed as effective by percentage. According to the operation of implementing extension training, which has a success rate of 79%, they are considered very successful. Implementing the support provided to farmers by extension workers was considered successful with a percentage of 70.5%. Implement training provided to farmers by extension workers, with a proportion of 63.5%. The evaluation procedure was assessed as successful in 69% of cases. This makes it possible to guarantee the success and satisfaction of shallot farming extension efforts in Beji Village.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the factors influencing the number of livestock ownership in beef cattle in Sukaraja District, Seluma Regency. The variables used in this research are the breeder's age, experience, calf price, income from the beef cattle business, rearing system, and type of cow. The research uses a survey method with field observation techniques and direct interviews with respondents. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The sampling procedure utilized a proportional random sample. The samples taken were farmers engaged in beef cattle farming in the Sukaraja sub-district, 98 samples were used purposively using the Slovin formula. The data analysis technique uses Multiple Linear Regression analysis. The research results show that the average ownership of cattle kept by farmers is 3-5 head per farmer using intensive and semi-intensive rearing systems. The variables of calf price and income from the beef cattle business have a real impact.  The breeder's age and experience have an impact on the number of beef cattle holdings. Meanwhile, the rearing system and type of cow have no significant effect on the number of beef cattle ownership.

Abstract

Butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea (L.)) and gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L.)) contain phenolic compounds. The phenolic compounds in butterfly pea flowers are anthocyanins, while in gotu kola, there are flavonoids and tannins. Butterfly flower extract and gotu kola extract have certain concentrations of SPF values in the maximum category. This research aimed to determine the results of the irritation test of sunscreen stick preparations of butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea (L.)) and gotu kola (Centella Asiatica (L.)). This research uses an experimental approach with a true experimental design. Stick preparations are divided into formulations with a combination of active ingredients of butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea (L.)) at a concentration of 2% or 3%, and gotu kola extract (Centella asiatica (L.)) at a concentration of 7% or 8%. The optimal formulation of the preparation is adjusted to the evaluation results and specified requirements. The research showed that sunscreen sticks with two different formulations were applied to the skin 2.5 cm wide and then left for 1 hour to determine whether the skin began to show signs of irritation, such as redness, swelling, or itching. This irritation test was carried out on 20 volunteers, then observed for 3 days, and showed that the formulation of 2 sunscreen stick preparations did not irritate

Abstract

This article is a critical review that aims to provide information regarding the development of household waste management in Indonesia. Household waste management in Indonesia is still not optimal due to several factors, internal and external. There are eight obstacles related to household waste management in Indonesia. The eight obstacles include: 1) weak level of knowledge, 2) community diversity related to customs and culture, 3) regulations and policies, 4) processing innovation, 5) synergy between stakeholders, 6) processing system, 7) facilities and infrastructure, and 8) the existence of a pandemic that has also changed people's behavior in producing types of household medical waste. These eight obstacles are challenges to be solved and also become opportunities for future research in related fields of science.
