Abstract

National coffee have bean production reaches 600,000 tons for a year, only 20% that can be processed and marketed in to secondary products by roasted coffee, ground coffee, fast food coffee, and several types of secondary products derived from its derivatives and processing. The factors need to be considered when roasting, including temperature, time, expertise, and roasting techniques with a tool that is designed has dimension length 50 cm width 45 cm and height 110 cm. Coffee beans are roasted using a teflon griddle without a 25 cm cover diameter and Teflon griddle with a 16 cm cover diameter. The treatments studied were temperatures around 180 to 215oC with 12 minutes roasting time. The temperature treatment and roasting time affect the changes in mechanical physical properties of the coffee, namely a faster decrease in water content, increased fragility and accelerate changes in the color of darkness. Roaster machine based on microcontroller using gas fuel is made only 3 settings of coffee profile results, namely light, medium and dark with a light time of 12.8 minutes, medium 17 minutes and dark 25 minutes with a temperature setting of 245 degrees Celsius. The price of "roaster" is still very high because all the roasted tools in Indonesia are mostly imported so that they are not affordable by the household industry scale in relatively low income. So the authors make a prototype of a horizontal roaster model while still emphasizing traditional methods with temperature and time control. Temperature and time control here can be used to obtain the desired coffee profile qualit to reproduce creations roasted results. The dimensions are also small with a height of 60 cm, a width of 50 cm and a length of 60 cm and a frying pan diameter of 30 cm to hold 2 kg of coffee. This tool is designed with stainless steel and other parts used easily found on the market with the aim of facilitating maintenance and the main point is the application of appropriate technology with to increasing economic value. The results of testing the tool with a robusta coffee sample of 2 kilograms obtained the conclusion that the temperature and roasting time affect the profile of coffee produced and the roasting process can reduce the moisture content of coffee beans produced to improve quality of coffee profile.

Abstract

In designing seismic-resistant buildings, it is commonly used Forced-Based Design method. The concept of the Force-Based Design (FBD) method is based on an elastic analysis of the structure and indirectly shows the performance level of the structure towards the effects of the seismic forces. Therefore, it is required an approach that capable of analyzing and evaluating the performance of the inelastic structural response; it is called Performance-Based Design method. This paper uses two methods of Performance-Based Design, there are Direct Displacement-Based Design and Capacity Spectrum Method, by using pushover analysis. The objectives of the research are to analyze and compare the performance level of the building in inelastic condition by using these two methods. The structural model reinforced concrete special moment frames. Seismic design code that used in this study is SNI 1726:2012. The reviewed parameter values are displacement and story drift values, estimated plastic hinge response, and performance level of the building from two methods. As the results, all the parameter values of DDBD analysis are more significant than CSM. DDBD produces the drift and displacement values of 0.668 m with the rebar ratio is more significant than 1.00. While, the CSM produces the drift and displacement values of 0.501 m with the rebar ratio of 1.00. The failure mechanism of both methods indicates the strong column weak beam where the beams should fail before the columns. The structure performance level which refers to ATC-40 indicate that both DDBD method and CSM method are in Damage Control level despite displacement target of the two methods are different which is DDBD produces displacement target of 0.376 m while CSM produces the value of 0.345 m.

Abstract

Abstract. The small and medium-sized enterprises (UKM) of Kerupuk Cipir are the home industries which produce kerupuk cipir. During the making process, there were still many phases which were done manually using a simple work facility. During the dough stirring phase, the workers used a bending work posture (unergonomic) which caused musculoskeletal complaints and various problems toward the workers. Therefore, a research was conducted by applying rapid entire body assesment (REBA) analysis to decrease musculoskeletal complaints and increase productivity. The research was conducted experimentally at UKM Kerupuk Cipir in Binangun Village, Karangpucung District, Cilacap Regency by using the treatment by subject design. There were two treatments given toward the sample: stirring the dough using the former work facility and stirring the dough using the improved work facility through ergonomic approach. The musculoskeletal complaints were measured using Nordic Body Map questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed a decrease on REBA score from 11 on level 4 which was in the category of high risk into score of 4 on level 2 which was in the category of quite high when the handle position is on the upper side, score of 5 when the handle position is on the front side, and score of 7 when the handle position is on the lower side. The workers’ complaints of severe pain on 9 body parts and pain on 6 body parts were decreased into mild pain on 7 body parts and no pain on 20 other body parts. Work productivity increased into 89.62%.

Abstract

Many small industries produce handicrafts related to art in Bali, one of which is pottery. Pottery is an object made of clay which is formed and then burned to be a unique shape such as: jugs, glassware, cauldron, brazier, piggy bank, and other objects. The process of producing pottery required the complex steps, from preparing clay, printing by turning, drying and burning. The main difficulty of pottery producers is in the process of forming shapes which involved the rotating spinner. Most of small industries still use the manual spin control to rotate clay bucket holder. This research aims to re-design of a rotating spin machine from the existing pottery industries to increase the productivity. The sample was overtaken from 12 craftsmen in Singakerta Village, District of Ubud Gianyar, Bali. Sample P0 was given to craftsmen is still used the old design and P1 was given to sample modified and re-designed the old machine with added automatic control of rotating spinner. Workload is calculated based on the worker's pulse rate which is measured using a pulse meter. Research data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. T-test method was performed to analyzing the differences range between groups P0 and P1 at significance level of 5%. The results showed a workload was decreased from heavy to moderate by 12.09%. Production rate was increased by 282.1%, and productivity increased by 334.6%

Abstract

The production process of making gamelan in Tihingan Village still uses the traditional way, namely using prapen with an open flame both for the melting process and in the formation process. This causes the workload of craftsmen to be quite heavy due to exposure to radiant heat and dust. The results of microclimate measurement of the work environment obtained an average dry temperature of 33.2oC, an average wet temperature of 24oC. The average ball temperature was 33oC, WBGT 26.3oC and the mean humidity (RH) was 59.0%. The average light intensity at work reaches 319.2 lux. The average temperature of the furnace at low heat is 340oC and during the combustion process it reaches 860 oC. The results of measurements of air quality in the workplace include levels of NO2 17.00 µg /m3 (increased by 112.50%), SO2 5.33 µg/m3 (increased by 45.23%), CO 407.16 µg/m3 (increased by 217, 99%), oxidants (Ox) 61.00 µg/m3 (increased by 1.67%) and dust 48.50 µg/m3 (increased by 125.58%). The mean pulse of the nguwad workers reached 125.81±1.35 beats/minutes (including heavy workload). This causes the productivity of craftsmen to be low due to the increase in musculoskeletal disorders and craftsmen fatigue. To overcome this condition, the workings of the craftsmen need to be improved immediately through the application of appropriate technology in the form of furnace repair so that the flames and dust produced can be removed from the workplace, then exposure to hot air and combustion dust will no longer expose the craftsmen.
