Abstract

Solar power (photovoltaic) is one of the clean energies that is very well developed in a tropical country like Indonesia. This is due to the high intensity of the sun and shining throughout the year so that the annual energy obtained is relatively high. The solar energy system in this research was developed with a photovoltaic array system that can be optimized for angles and facing according to where the experiment was carried out. The solar system using Solar Control Charge (SCC) and an inverter in order to get both alternating and direct current output. This energy output from solar power is used to drive the medium temperature refrigerator system for storing fresh vegetables and fruit. The results obtained from this preliminary study are the best angle and direction is an angle of 15 degrees to the north. And this condition will be determined in the form of a fixed tilt on the solar power system located at the Bali State Polytechnic and its surroundings.

Abstract

The problems faced are aluminium (Al) waste from industries that damage the environment and scarcity of Al raw materials that need to be recycled from used Al. The research objective was to determine the effect of adding magnesium (Mg) to used Al casting on the tensile strength and microstructure and to determine the comparison of the tensile strength of the Al material used by the piston to the brake lining and drum of motorcycles. The research method includes casting Al used pistons, brake lining and drum, testing the tensile strength and microstructure due to the addition of 0.1; 0.2; 0.5 and 1.0% by weight Mg to the tensile strength and microstructure. The results showed that the addition of Mg 0.5% by weight could increase the tensile strength of 92.96% from 71 MPa to 137 MPa for brake lining as the optimum value which further decreased the tensile strength by 19.7% at the addition of 1% Mg to 110 MPa. Drum material also experienced an increase in tensile strength of 33.71% from 89 MPa to 119 MPa as the optimum value where the tensile strength decreased by 5.88% for the addition of 1% Mg to 112 MPa. The two values of the tensile strength of the brake lining and drum components are lower than those of the piston component valued at 147 MPa, and with the addition of Mg, Mg2Si is formed which can reduce the porosity of the microstructure, thereby increasing its strength.

Abstract

Abstract. The rear-view mirror is one of the main devices found in cars. A mirror is a mirror used to see the traffic of a vehicle behind when it is about to veer, stop or change lanes. The purpose of this study was to design a pre-crash performance test of the rearview mirror. That is a system that will automatically perform mirror folding automatically based on the distance of the object in front of it. The system will reduce the risk of broken or scratched due to driver negligence. The research method at a time when the barrier is 30cm (±20cm) away from the front or back of the rearview mirror will read that distance which will then transmit to the Arduino. Arduino will process the data and send data for the speed reduction process by warning that there is an object in front or behind the rearview mirror and when the distance is <30cm from the barrier object, then the Arduino will order to fold the rearview mirror automatically, by activating the servo motor to fold the rear and rearview mirrors. The result of this study was to find out the performance of the GP2Y0A21 distance sensor reading and the performance of the rearview mirror pre-crash system. In this study, the bound variable was the distance measurement of the sensor's reading. The free variable used is the sensor reading metering distance displayed on the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display).

Abstract

In terms of cost utilization, formwork is the largest cost component in concrete work on a building project. The cost for formwork is about 40-60% [6] of the cost of concrete work or about 10% of the total cost of building construction. With two methods of formwork i.e. conventional and half system formwork, the authors want to know the comparison of which formwork method is best in the aspect of cost savings, and the execution time for the formwork of columns on the Standard Villa project. From 2 (two) methods proposed then it is chosen the second method; that is formwork column with method of half system as best alternative. The savings can be done from the first method to the second method as much as 26.17%, while in terms of savings time that can be done with method 2 is equal to 5% of method 1

Abstract

Less optimized natural lighting would result in apartment residents being dependent on artificial lighting, thus increasing energy consumption. Building opening orientation considerably influences the natural light intensity. This research aimed to analyze the natural lighting pattern on apartment units with east-oriented opening orientation and determine methods to support the existing condition to be optimized. This research applied the descriptive analysis research method assumed from calculation outcome of the software DIALux. Results indicated a proportion of units in The H-Residence Apartment do not meet the requirements specified by SNI 03 6197-2011, predominantly in the kitchen area. The average light intensity in a day in units with east-oriented opening reached its peak at 08.00 – 09.00 a.m. and decreased towards 16.00 p.m. following the sun path. The light intensity in numerous areas exceeded the requirements significantly. Other factors influencing the natural light distribution are layout and interior element. Several ways to optimize the natural light intensity utilization are adding suitable shading device, using dark-colored interior elements, and considering the sun path in designing building openings.

Abstract

Even though it is old, the existence and existence of Isuzu Panther cars in the 90s are still widely used, this is because in addition to the well-known / tested engine stubborn but also fuel efficient. To maintain the condition of the engine to stay fit, vehicle owners must pay attention to the maintenance of their cars regularly. One engine component that is vital and must receive special care is the Nozzle. The treatment of the nozzle is physical condition checking, cleaning and proper testing. This test is done by giving pressurized fuel to the nozzle, then we observe and analyze how the character of the spray. Testing pressure variations of 90 bar, 100 bar, 110 bar, 120 bar, and 130 bar (range of nozzle working pressure from the factory) using diesel, The characteristics of the fuel spray tested are the length of the spray penetration tip (L), speed spray (v or Uin), spray angle (Ɵ), and large distribution of granules formed at each pressure variation. From the test it is known, at 110 bar testing pressure has the best characteristics, both in terms of spray and the number of grains.

Abstract

The process of drying fish using solar energy is strongly influenced by weather conditions. Sunlight is needed by household scale workers because it is cheap. On the other hand, sun drying creates additional workload for workers. Workers are exposed to hot sun during drying. Continuous heat exposure results in an increased work pulse. This affects the level of worker productivity. To anticipate this, a solar dryer is used by utilizing a solar collector as an absorber of sunlight and a drying chamber for the drying process of fish. The use of solar dryers has been shown to increase drying temperatures and reduce workers' sun exposure. This decreases the workload of workers, so that it has an impact on increasing productivity. Worker productivity increased by 133.94%.

Abstract

Human development and national competitivenes is one of the flagship programs from The Indonesian Government. Bali as one of the best tourist destination in the world is required to have an international standard tourism infrastructure. A swimming pool in a tourism accomodation is a standard facility in a tourist infrastructure. There are several types of swimming pools i.e. public swimming pools and private pools. During its development and demand, private pools develop into swimming pools with additional facilities such as warm water, which is often called a jacuzzi. Another additional facility is added pressure to the water in completing massage, fragrance and foam. The swimming pool is one of facilitity designed to hold water to allow swimming or other recreational activities. Pools can be built in the ground or on the ground as a free construction or as a part of structure and also with a common feature or a free style design. In-ground pools are the most common pools made and constructed from materials such as concrete, natural stone, metal, plastic, or fiberglass. To support comfort and satisfaction when using the swimming pool, the adequate water level in the swimming pool will be maintained by system with several supporting devices such as pumps, dirt filters and maintained at a certain level. Other things that support water quality include temperature, water turbidity, color, odor, pH, chlorine content etc.
