Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding decreases with age. Based on data in Semarang City, Pegandan Health Center is the second consecutive year (2016-2017) in the lowest exclusive breastfeeding (24.69%). This shows that there are still many mothers who give non-exclusive breastfeeding. The problem in this study is what factors cause non-exclusive breastfeeding. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the causes of non-exclusive breastfeeding by mothers in area of Pegandan Health Center. The research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The informants in this study were mothers who had babies aged 0-12 months and obtained as many as 12 informants. The data collection technique was done by in-depth interviews using interview guidelines. The results found that low knowledge, lack of motivation, lack of husband and family support made mothers fail to provide exclusive breastfeeding. Suggestions for health center are to increase counseling about exclusive breastfeeding, not only mothers, but also those closest to them such as grandmothers / husbands that can be done through routine meetings such as PKK or other routine meeting activities.

Abstract

Filariasis or elephantiasis is an infectious disease affecting lymph nodes (lymph nodes) caused by filarial worms and transmitted by various species of mosquitoes. Brebes Regency is an area with the highest cases of Filariasis in Central Java Province. The number of cases of Filariasis until 2018 there were 65 patients. In addition, the discovery of new cases in the past two years has increased exactly in 2018 by 5 cases to 8 cases in 2019. The purpose of the study was to analyze the risk factors for the incidence of filariasis in Brebes Regency. This study used a case control design. The population consists of all people whose blood samples have been examined through a finger blood examination and recorded at the health center and Brebes District Health Office. The sample consisted of 32 patients with filariasis and 32 not sufferers of filariasis with the Purposive Sampling technique. The instruments used questionnaire and observation sheets. Data analysis used Chi-squared test and logistic regression test. The analysis shows that there is a correlation between resting place (p=0.000), breeding place (p=0.000), wire netting (p=0.002), the presence of livestock (p=0.015), knowledge (p=0.001), occupation (p=0.000), behaviour (p=0.024), and economic status (p=0.024) with the incidence of filariasis. The most dominant risk factors for obesity are work, resting place, and breeding place. The existence of a resting place and breeding place can increase the risk of filariasis so efforts are needed to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

Abstract

Neonatal mortality rate (NMR) in Tegal Regency from 2015-2017 has contributed significantly to infant mortality, which is 70-81% and is ranked the 3rd largest in neonatal deaths in Central Java Province. One reason is the level of knowledge and handling of officers in the steps of Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness (IMNCI) in neonatal visits is still low. This study aims to simultaneously analyze the influence of IMNCI training on midwives' knowledge, attitudes, motivations and compliance of neonatal visit in Tegal Regency. This study used a quasi-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest design with a control group design, with a sample of 54 respondents namely 27 midwives as a control group and 27 midwives as an intervention group. The results showed a simultaneous difference in the intervention group between IMNCI training on knowledge, attitudes, motivation and compliance of midwife neonatal visit in Tegal Regency where the results of the Manova analysis showed a significance value of less than 0.05 (p = 0,000). The results of this study can be taken into consideration in taking the policy of the IMNCI program as one of the actions to increase the achievement of neonatal visits with IMNCI approach in an effort to reduce morbidity and infant mortality, especially in neonatal period.

The purpose of this research was to analyze the influence of the calendar media on increasing the knowledge and attitudes of mothers of children under five (toddlers) in participating visits to Posyandu. This research was a quantitative research with two group pretest-posttest experimental methods. The calendar media was given to mothers of intervention group, and leaflet media to the control group. The study population was all mothers of toddlers in the Semarang City while the number of samples were 144 mothers who have toddlers aged 6-59 months in the Karangayu Health Center, Poncol Health Center and Bugangan Health Center. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate. The results showed that after the intervention increased knowledge of children under five in the calendar group (0.93%) was smaller than in the leaflet group (1.38%). The increase in the attitude of the toddlers in the calendar group (1.40%) was almost the same as the leaflet group (1.38%). Increasing the frequency of attendance of Toddler Children to the Posyandu in the calendar group (0.52%), is greater than in the leaflet group (0.29%). The conclusion of this study was that there was an increase in the frequency of attendance between the intervention groups using calendar media and the control groups using leaflet media. Interventions using calendar media increase the frequency of attendance more than using leaflet media.

Abstract

Dental and oral disease will greatly affect the degree of health, the process of growth and development even the child's future. The success of maintaining dental and oral health is influenced by the method of brushing teeth, the frequency and time of proper brushing. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of movie media with puppet stories in elementary school students. This research design is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design consisting of a movie media intervention group, a puppet story intervention group and a control group. Each group sample was 56 students with a total population of 168 students. The sampling technique for the control group used purposive sampling while the intervention group used total sampling technique. Dental and oral hygiene education with puppet stories is more effective than movie media with a Mean Rank value of movie media 50.50, Mean Rank of puppet stories is 62.50 and a Significance value of 0.023 which means it is smaller than the level of significance ? <0.05. From this study it can be concluded that the average value of puppet stories is greater than the average value of movie media. So that this method can be a means of developing knowledge in the field of public health, especially about the promotion of dental and oral health in children         © 2020 Semarang State University
