Jurnal Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Missio (JPKM) is published regularly twice a year in January and June by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Santu Paulus College of Teacher Training and Education. This journal contains scientific articles from research in the fields of religion, education, social, culture, and humanities. The JPKM Editorial Team receives scientific articles that have never been published in journals or other media. The published article script has been evaluated through a review and editing process to fit the style of the JPKM.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to present the implementation of a project-based learning model in Javanese language subjects. Descriptive qualitative method is used as the procedural steps in this research. Data in the research are collected through interview techniques, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is Miles and Huberman's, which involves the steps of 1) data collection, 2) data reduction, 3) data presentation, and 4) data conclusion. Informants include the school principal, teachers, and students. The results of this research show that the project-based learning model is implemented for the wayang (traditional Javanese puppet) material. The findings indicate that the Project-Based Learning Model is very suitable as an alternative Javanese language learning model in the Merdeka Curriculum. This Project-Based Learning Model for Javanese language is implemented by preparing students of class VII F, arranging activity schedules, supervising the implementation, assessing students, and conducting evaluations.

Abstract

The procession of installing the roof frame of a house, which is termed as Munggahna Kuda-kuda in Javanese society, is carried out with a procession. This is done as a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation and is believed to prevent the owner of the house from bad luck that might happen in the future. The purpose of this research is 1) to describe the procession of Munggahna Kuda-kuda Malang Regency, 2) the symbolic meaning of offerings in Munggahna Kuda-kuda Malang Regency. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with a semiotic approach in studying the culture of the local community. The sampling technique in this study used nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling. Research data and data sources in the form of the Mungahna Kuda-kuda tradition in Javanese society, especially in Malang Regency. The data collection technique in this research is by conducting interviews with sources of literature study on manuscripts. The results of this study are in the form of a procession in this tradition starting with determining the naga tahun or cardinal direction in accordance with the month in the Javanese calendar. second, determining the naga dina or good day in accordance with community beliefs. Third, a joint prayer event attended by workers and local residents with a dish consisting of sega golong and jenang sengkolo or glutinous rice porridge consisting of two colors, red and white. The fourth is the process of installing the roof of the house which is accompanied by the installation of offerings. Each offering consists of rice, corn, sugar cane, bananas, a red and white flag, and a set of clothes (sewek, shirt, and veil). Each symbol has its own meaning. The determination of the direction of the wind, the day, and the symbols in the offerings and selamatan dishes have a good purpose, namely as a manifestation of gratitude and prayers for safety to the Almighty in accordance with community beliefs.

Abstract

This research is a class action research (CAR). This research aims to improve students’ critical thinking skills by applying CORE learning (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, and Extending) through cultural worksheet. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Kertosono in May 2023. The subject in this research were 7G class students, totaling 32 students. The instrument that used in this research is a matter of critical thinking skills test. The data collection technique used is through a critical thinking ability test. Critical thinking indikators that used in this research are interpretation, analysis, evaluation and inference. The result of this research indicated that implementation CORE learning through cultural worksheet can improve students’ critical thinking skills. This can be seen from the number of students who are able to achive indikators of critical thinking has increased from initial data to cycle 2. Based on the percentage increase in the number of students who achieve indikators of critical thinking from initial data to cycle 2 the percentage of students who achieve interpretation indikators has increased by 50%. The percentage of the number of students who reached the analysis indikators increased by 78%. The percentage of the number of students who reached the evaluation indikator increased by 59%. The percentage of the number of students who achieve the inference indikator has increased by 25%.

Abstract

This research reviews the Peta Kapanca, an ancient tradition that guides marriage in Bima culture, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This research aims to understand the cultural values, customs, and rituals associated with the Peta Kapanca newlywed procession. A qualitative approach was used in this research, where the data collection methods were in-depth interviews and a literature review. The results showed that Peta Kapanca has a central role in guiding prospective brides and grooms in facing the transition stage toward marriage. The rituals involve family, traditional elders, and community leaders to provide the future bride and groom support, advice, and direction. Values such as cooperation, respect for ancestors, and family togetherness are the main foundations for implementing the Peta Kapanca. Overall, the Peta Kapanca is an integral part of the social and cultural life of the Bima people. This tradition plays an important role in preserving cultural values and local identity. Therefore, to ensure the continuity of the Peta Kapanca, the community and government need collaborative efforts to preserve and appreciate this valuable cultural heritage
