Abstract

Integrative education which is not only oriented towards educating the nation's children intellectually, but also spiritually, socially-emotionally and kinesthetically, must be the concern of all education stakeholders. This is also a concern of educational stakeholders in Ursuline schools. Ursuline schools have main values or core values, namely Serviam which means "I Serve". Serviam's values include love and compassion, integrity, courage and sincerity, unity, totality and service. These values are sourced from holy books, Church teachings and the spirituality of Santa Angela. How is the application of these values in Ursuline education? So far, there has been no research on this. This research was conducted to fill this gap with the aim of exploring and describing a model for implementing Serviam's values in education in Ursuline schools. The method used is a qualitative method. Data obtained by interview technique, observation and documentation study. Data validation was carried out by means of technique and source triangulation. Furthermore, the data were analyzed with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the application of Serviam's values was carried out through (1) learning activities in all subjects both in planning (96.3% of teachers prepared lesson plans with Serviam's character), implementation (88.9% of teachers implemented lesson plans with Serviam's character in learning) and assessment (100% of teachers filled out an attitude assessment journal containing Serviam's character values); (2) developing school culture through routine activities, spontaneous activities, exemplary and conditioning; (3) extracurricular activities and (4) daily activities at home and in the community. Abstract

This paper describes Paulo Freire's thoughts on humanistic education. The background of this study is the dehumanization situation in our society today, which is caused by unfair practices. The method used is a literature review, by collecting book sources and journal articles that talk about Freire's views on humanistic education. Historically Freire's humanistic education emerged from his struggle with the practice of injustice towards the poor. They are oppressed because of the poverty they experience. This practice resulted in dehumanization. Dehumanization can only be changed through a dialogical educational process. According to Freire, humans are naturally beings who are aware of their existence in and within the world. Because of this, humans in their practical experience are always in dialogue with the world. The oppressed are invited to recognize and be aware of the reality of the oppression they experience in this educational process, then struggle to overcome this oppressed situation. The aim of dialogic education is to regain human values that have been taken away due to acts of oppression. With that dehumanization is changed to humanization. According to Freire, the ontological need for every human being is to become a complete human being in his existence. It is the duty of education to help every human being to become a complete human being in the reality of his life. It must be admitted that our nation's society is currently experiencing a crisis in many aspects. These crises are actually rooted in the humanitarian crisis. There are many practices of injustice that sacrifice the rights of many people. Paulo Freire's humanistic educational approach can be used as a basis for facing and resolving this crisis

Abstract

As the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has made many changes in the life of the Catholic Church, including in Church Law. He is known as a revolutionary and progressive pope for changing various traditions in the Catholic Church. However some of his policies have generated controversy and been the subject of public debate within and outside the Church itself. Using a literature study, this paper highlights changes in marriage law, lay involvement, liturgy, Church unity, and Church sanctions. This study finds that the changes made by the Pope aim to strengthen the mission of the Church to present the merciful face of God, ensure that there is justice for all people in enjoying the grace of salvation, and increase the laity’s participation in Church life. Controversy and public debate that arose as a result of Pope Francis' policies were actually a consequence of his efforts to defend the Church's doctrine in the midst of increasingly strong world challenges demanding the upholding of human rights for everyone. This study concludes that the changes that occur are a part of history that the Church must face today.

Abstract

Interest in learning mathematics will encourage students to study mathematics. Therefore, interest in learning needs to be increased, one of which is with Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) with Mbaru Tembong ethnomathematics content. This study aims to describe the increased interest in learning mathematics in class IX E students at SMPN 4 Langke Rembong with the subject of curved side shapes, namely tubes and cones. To achieve this goal, cyclical learning is designed, each cycle starting with planning, implementing, observing and ending with reflection. The subjects in this study were 30 students in class IX E. The data collection technique used was the non-test technique in the form of a questionnaire of interest in learning and observation. The results showed an increase in students' learning interest in each cycle. The results of distributing questionnaires and observations made by researchers in the pre-action classical percentage were obtained in the high category of 6.6%. The percentage is classically determined by the high category, namely ≥75%. In cycle I, the percentage obtained from distributing questionnaires was in the high category, namely 13.3% and for the observation results, the average obtained was in the medium category. Because it was continued with planning with cycle II. In cycle II the classical percentage obtained was 93.3% and for the observations the average acquisition was in the high category. In cycle II, the percentage classically has reached the predetermined target so that the action is said to be successful. This shows that by applying Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) with Mbaru Tembong's ethnomathematics content, it can increase students' interest in class IX E at SMPN 4 Langke Rembong. Therefore, for teachers who want to increase students' interest in learning, one method that can be used is to apply Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) with ethnomathematics content. Students will feel that mathematics plays an important role in everyday life thereby increasing interest in learning mathematics

The objectives of this study, among others, (1) Describe the content of literacy dimensions contained in horror stories, (2) Describe the use of horror stories in learning deaf students. The horror story used to support deaf learning is a story entitled Dihantui Kendi Maling by Sylvana Toemon. This research was conducted with a descriptive qualitative approach. The source of research data is horror stories and teaching and learning activities of deaf students. Data was collected by observation techniques, and interviews. Observations are made by participants, or researchers are directly involved in deaf learning. The study participants were deaf teachers and students at SLB B Dena Upakara Wonosobo, Central Java. Interviews are conducted with teachers to clarify or confirm data that does not appear in observations. The results showed that the horror story Haunted by the Maling Jug can be used in learning because it contains a three-dimensional reinforcement stimulus for literacy. The various dimensions of literacy include literacy, financial literacy, and cultural-civic literacy. Literacy is learned through understanding the substance of discourse. Financial literacy is contained in the knowledge of stealing as a form of financial crime. Cultural-civic literacy is found in the attitude of appreciating local knowledge and beliefs in the community.
