Abstract

This study synthesizes and characterizes NiO–TiO₂/graphene nanocomposites as anode materials to enhance the performance of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The composite was prepared using NiO precipitation, TiO2 annealing, and hydrothermal methods. FTIR analysis identified -OH stretching vibrations at 3313.63 cm-1 and Ni-O/Ti-O bonds at 624 cm-1, confirming metal oxide formation. XRD revealed anatase TiO2 phases at 2θ = 25° and 48° with (101) and (200) planes, rutile phases at 2θ = 27°, 36°, and 54° with (110), (101), and (211) planes, and peaks for graphene (2θ = 43°) and NiO (2θ = 62° and 70°). SEM-EDX showed uniform nanoparticle morphology with Ti, O, Ni, and C elements. Cyclic voltammetry indicated a 5% capacity increase per cycle over five cycles, with oxidation at 0.75 V and reduction at -0.75 V. The composite demonstrated excellent electrochemical stability and enhanced storage capacity, highlighting its potential as an anode material for LIBs.

Abstract

Inflammatory diseases of the external ear are common in both otorhinolaryngology and primary care due to the ear's exposed anatomical location, making it susceptible to trauma, environmental factors, and infections. This study aimed to explore the etiological factors, clinical features, treatment methods, outcomes, and complications associated with external ear inflammations. A prospective observational study was conducted on 400 patients who underwent ENT examination and treatment at a Tertiary Care Center from 2020 to 2023. The male-to-female ratio was 1.2:1. The most common cause was bacterial infections, with otomycosis being the most prevalent condition. Earache was the most frequent symptom. Seventy-four percent of patients recovered with medical management alone, and the complication rate was 10%. Otomycosis, often influenced by hot and humid environments, primarily affected younger individuals due to increased exposure. Most diagnoses were clinical, and conservative treatment proved effective, reducing the need for further investigations.

Abstract

Antioxidant compounds play an essential role in health because they can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer and coronary heart disease. This study analyzed the antioxidant activity of red fruit oil and juice. This study used an experimental method with oil and juice obtained through boiling for 4-5 hours. The stages of the study include flavonoid qualitative tests and antioxidant activity tests using the DPPH method using UV-Vis Spectrophotometers. Based on the research results, oil and red fruit juice contain flavonoids that have the potential to be antioxidants. Antioxidant activity test with the DPPH method showed IC50 in red fruit oil products on the market at 30.11 ppm and red fruit juice at 31.80 ppm, showing vigorous antioxidant activity compared to homemade red fruit oil with an IC50 of 85.98 ppm.

Abstract

Green spinach is a vegetable with vitamin, protein, fat, carbohydrates, potassium, and important minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, and iron. Jakaba is one of the organic fertilizers. Jakaba fertilizer made from the fermentation of the first rice washing water, is a promising alternative to inorganic fertilizer. Rice washing water contains nutrients such as N, P2O5, K2O, and C-organic which play a role in plant growth. This study aims to determine the effect of Jakaba fertilizer on the growth of spinach (Amaranthus viridis). The method used in this study is the experimental method. By using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments, with 4 replications. The results of the study showed that Jakaba fertilizer has a major impact on the growth of spinach because it contains macronutrients as well as other micronutrients. The best spinach plant growth was shown in P3, which is 60 ml Jakaba/500 ml water.

Abstract

This study presents the development of a web-based application designed to assist in monitoring compliance with the PEPA (Instrument of Higher Education Accreditation) scoring system. Utilizing CSS Bootstrap 5.3 for the interface, MySQL 8.2.4 for database management, and PHP 8.2.4 with native coding, the application features two user levels: Admin for system management and Study Program for data input. The primary objective of the application is to recapitulate PEPA scoring and provide alerts to Study Programs when their scores fall below the required standards. In accordance with the Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 5 of 2020, which mandates BAN-PT's responsibility to monitor accreditation compliance, this application facilitates continuous monitoring of submitted data. By doing so, it helps prevent non-compliance, ensuring that Study Programs and Higher Education Institutions maintain their accreditation status and avoid the need for re-application.

Abstract

Eceng gondok is a weed plant that lives in shallow water areas. The aim of this research was to determine the burn wound healing activity of an ethanol extract of Eceng gondok leaves. The study utilized 28 male mice with burn injuries as test animals, dividing them into 4 groups. We gave a gel containing an ethanol extract to the 10% group. The 0% group received a gel base; the positive control group received Bioplacenton® gel; and the negative control group received no treatment. For 14 days, we administered treatment to all treatment and control groups once a day and measured the burn wound's diameter using the Morton method every two days. Data shown were significant differences between the 10% extract group and the positive control groups. The concentration that is effective in burn wound healing is 10%, with the smallest wound diameter and the largest healing percentage.

Abstract

To control non-communicable diseases, the NCD Posyandu (integrated service post) monitors and detects possible risk factors for non-communicable diseases in the community. This study used qualitative research methods with in-depth interview questionnaires for informants at the NCD Posyandu, UPT Puruk Cahu Health Center. The study’s results comparing the NCD Posyandu implementation standards for 2014 showed that the NCD Posyandu work area had good and competent cadres, with patients getting NCD services and counseling for free. Recommendations are needed to improve partnerships, funding support, and NCD Posyandu implementation tools, increase the number of cadres, and provide training to all NCD Posyandu cadres and meetings for the community on non-communicable diseases so that coordination among all parties in NCD Posyandu, including the community, runs optimally both in quality and quantity.

Abstract

Non-metallic mineral and rock (category or class C) mining activities have the potential to generate significant environmental impacts, particularly on biological components. This study aims to assess the impact of class C mining activities in the Duku River, Padang Pariaman. A qualitative descriptive analysis method was employed, with data collected through observation, documentation, and interviews conducted at the study site. Based on the results, the flora diversity index calculated using the Shannon–Wiener method was 2.218, while the fauna diversity index was 2.186. These values fall within the moderate category of biodiversity. Therefore, it can be concluded that class C mining activities in the Duku River have a measurable impact on biological components.

Abstract

The solvent type plays a crucial role in influencing the extraction of active compounds from natural materials. The peel of kapul fruit (Baccaurea macrocarpa) is known to contain flavonoid compounds with notable antibacterial properties. This study aimed to quantify the total flavonoid content in kapul fruit peel extract by evaluating the effects of different solvent types using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. The analysis revealed the presence of secondary metabolites, including alkaloids, saponins, and flavonoids. The total flavonoid content of the kapul fruit peel extract varied significantly across different solvents: 4.7238 ± 0.5807 mgQE/g for ethanol, 2.9699 ± 0.1539 mgQE/g for ethyl acetate, and 2.0417 ± 0.4236 mgQE/g for n-hexane. Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant difference in flavonoid content among the three solvent extracts. These results highlight the importance of solvent selection in maximizing the extraction efficiency of flavonoids from kapul fruit peel, which may have implications for its potential therapeutic applications.
