Abstract

Abstract

The high prevalence of hypertension and the long-term of antihypertensive treatments required are the main reasons for the need of economic analysis on the costs of hypertensive treatment. This study aims to quantify direct medical cost of hypertension. This study uses retrospective cost of illness analysis in descriptive observational design with heath care perspective. Data were collected from the hospital’s management information system, patient's prescriptions and patient's medical records. Fifty-eight patient’s data were analyzed. Direct medical cost of the patient without comorbidities in stage 1 hypertension was Rp 535,660 ± 100,681, stage 2 hypertension was Rp 381,940 ± 126,423 and hypertensive crises was Rp 456,241 ± 197,959. Direct medical cost of the patients with comorbidities in stage 1 hypertension was Rp 398,750 ± 240,542, stage 2 hypertension was Rp 486,227 ± 241,136 and hypertensive crises was Rp 425,816 ± 140,898. Direct medical costs for patients with compelling indications in stage 1 hypertension was Rp 512,810 ± 152,661, stage 2 hypertension was Rp 444,183 ± 109,162 and hypertensive crises was Rp 410,364 ± 80,388. Cost for drugs was represented as the largest component of direct medical cost (37.49%) followes by cost for ward (26.54%), medical treatment fee (15.88%), medical support fee (9.05%), doctor visit fee (8.12%) and service fee (2.91%). The hypertension's stage, comorbidities and compelling indications are not affecting the cost of therapy. The rational use of drugs will decrease the cost of hypertension treatment.

Abstract

Infectious diseases are one of the many health problems that occur in society, especially in Indonesia. The drugs commonly prescribed by doctors for the general public to overcome this problem are antibiotics. Antibiotics are drugs used by health to inhibit, kill or treat bacterial infections. However, the use of antibiotics is often misused, such as using antibiotics without a doctor's prescription, not finishing antibiotics, not using according to dosage, to treatment that should not require antibiotics. This poses a risk of antibiotic resistance. One of the factors causing this is the lack of education to the public regarding the use of drugs, especially antibiotics. The target of this activity is the people of South Kalimantan, precisely to the visitors of MTQ South Kalimantan 2023 where not a few of these people understand the use of antibiotics. This activity was carried out with the hope of educating the public about the use of good and correct antibiotics so as to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance. Based on the results of these activities, the people of South Kalimantan, namely visitors to MTQ South Kalimantan 2023, have received information on how to use antibiotics properly, correctly and rationally.

Abstract

Eceng gondok is a weed plant that lives in shallow water areas. The aim of this research was to determine the burn wound healing activity of an ethanol extract of Eceng gondok leaves. The study utilized 28 male mice with burn injuries as test animals, dividing them into 4 groups. We gave a gel containing an ethanol extract to the 10% group. The 0% group received a gel base; the positive control group received Bioplacenton® gel; and the negative control group received no treatment. For 14 days, we administered treatment to all treatment and control groups once a day and measured the burn wound's diameter using the Morton method every two days. Data shown were significant differences between the 10% extract group and the positive control groups. The concentration that is effective in burn wound healing is 10%, with the smallest wound diameter and the largest healing percentage.

Abstract

The spread of COVID-19 has continued to grow rapidly worldwide. This disease is characterized by the presence of severe respiratory syndrome disorders in humans. The ACE2 receptor is the gateway for the COVID-19 virus to target cells, where it is expressed in airway epithelial and vascular endothelial cells. Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) contains active flavonoids. Flavonoid derivatives found in breadfruit include artonin-E, cycloaltilisin-7, cycloaltilisin, isocyclomorusin, cyclomorusin, cyclomulberrin, isocyclomulberrin, cyclocommunal, morusin, quercetin and artocarpin. This study aimed to determine the flavonoid derivative of breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis), which has the most effective potential against the ACE2 receptor, as a candidate inhibitor of the COVID-19 virus in silico. The results showed that of the eleven flavonoid derivatives of breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) tested, 3 compounds gave the lowest binding affinity value, namely cycloaltilisin -8.79 kcal/mol, cyclomulberrin -8.95 kcal/mol, and artocarpin -9.30. kcal/mol compared to Chloroquine -7.67 kcal/mol and Hydroxychloroquine -7.22 kcal/mol. The predicted results of the Lipinski Rule of Five showed that the 3 compounds and the comparison drug met the Ro5 rule. The compounds cycloaltilisin, cyclomulberin, and artocarpine have antiviral activity, as indicated by the Pa value in the range of 0.5<Pa<0.7. Cycloaltilisin, cyclomulberin and artocarpine are the most effective compounds to be developed as candidates for COVID-19 inhibitors. Keywords: Breadfruit, ACE-2, Covid-19, In Silico
