Abstract

Microencapsulation of metronidazole using HPMC as a polymer by solvent evaporation method had been studied. Microcapsulhad been made into3formulation with 3 ratio variation between Metronidazole and HPMC, 1:1; 1:1.5; 1:2. Microcapsules were analyzed by SEM, DTA, FT-IR, particle sized distribution and dissolution profile. Microcapsules were white to slightly yellow and almost perfectly spherical.Disolution profiles of microcapsules showed that the greater amount of HPMC gave the slower release ofMetronidazole. Dissolution kinetics of microcapsule allowedHiguchi equation, where the realese of Metronidazole  from microcapsules were controlled by diffution process.

Abstract

Research on the effect of giving the fraction of ethanolic extracts of roselle calyx  (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) to male white rats urine volume has been done, the  fraction was given orally at a dose of n-hexane fraction of 95 mg/g BW, the fraction of ethyl acetate 145 mg/g BW and the fraction of the remaining 350 mg/g BW once a days for 7, 14 and 21. Result shows that the fraction of n-hexane giving 95 mg/g BW, fraction ethyl acetate of  145 mg/g BW, and the remaining fraction of 3450 mg/kg BW roselle calyx  (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) can effect urine volume increased male white rats. Duration of the three fractions on days 7, 14 and 21 show a not significant increase in urine volume (P<0.05).

Abstract

Study about the analgesic effect of aethanolic extract of tapak liman leaf (Elephantopus scaber L) of white mice mice induced acetat acid 1% has been done. Extract was administered orally of variation dose 100, 300 and 900 mg/bw once daily until 7, 14 and 21 day. Results showed that giving of aethanolic extract of tapak liman leaf could decreased amount of stretching significantly.

Abstract

Starch yam bean (Pachyrrhizus erosus Urban) is tablet excipient with poor of both flowability and compressibility which can not be used as diluents of direct tablet compression. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of the combination avicel PH101-starch as a filler material co-process. Tablet made with direct compression method with isoniazid as a model drug. Results of the study show that the formula 4 (Avicel PH101 concentration with 4%) can produce co-process with mechanical and physical properties of compresibilitas-the most good, as for the evaluation of isoniazid tablets do not meet the requirements of violence and friabilytas on all formula. In summary, use of Co-Process yam bean starch-Avicel PH101 with 0-4% Avicel PH101 concentration was not produced a tablet that meet the requirements.

Abstract

The fatty acid content analysis of avocados pulp taken from Batusangkar (Sumatra Barat) area had researched. Avocado were  divided into 2 groups, that are group A : broaded in 3 days, group B : broaded in 5 days. Group A produced 149.274 g oils, whereas group B produced 169.598 g oils, analysis of avocado oil of group A by GC-MS showed the avocado oil components, namely acid miristat (2.44%), acid behenat (2.22%) and acid isopalmitat (10.97%), whereas the avocado oil components of group B are acid nonanoat (1.20%), acid miristat (2.80%), acid behenat (2.23%), acid palmitoleainat (7.91%), acid oleat (10.95%), acid oleat (28.69%), acid isopalmitat (4.77%).

Abstract

The research on preparation and characterization of dried leaves extract of simplicia jati belanda (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk.) has been done. The dry extract is made by adding various ratio of lactose, which is the ratio of the extract and drying with lactose 1x viscous extract, 1½ x  viscous extract and extract thick 2x viscous extract. Levels of water soluble compounds the highest value on the dry extract 1:2 was 22.6% ± 0.3434%, while the levels of ethanol soluble compounds the highest value on the dry extract 1:1 was 6.6406% ± 0.2785%, and the highest value content of flavonoids in the dry extract was 1:1 was 1.0047% ± 0.0031%.

Abstract

Evaluation about the effect of pirus juice (Cyphomandra betacea Sendtn.) on hematology parameters (red blood cells, reticulocytes, hemoglobin and hematocrit) for male white mice has been done. The juice was administrated orally one times a day during 20 days.  The 1th day until the 20th day the animal induction with Chloramphenicol 130 mg / kg orally, followed by the provision of pirus juice with various doses of 0.26 mL and 0.52 mL. The effect was observed on day 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30. The result showed that administration of pirus juice can increase the number of red blood cells, reticulocytes, hemoglobin and hematocrit  male white mice at each dose is highly significant (p <0.05). Dose of 0.52 mL of the nicest effects compared with other doses (p <0.05).

Abstract

Preparation and characterization of dried herb extract of meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L.) has been done. Dried extract was made by adding lactose with a certain ratio, with the ratio of extract and lactose are: 1 : ½ (F1); 1 : 1 (F2); 1 : 1½ (F3); 1 : 2 (F4). Characters abserved were specific and non specific character of  the dried extract. Non specific character of dry extract include loss in drying values, real density, compressed  density, total ash, acid insoluble ash content. Specifik characterization extract includes identities, organoleptic, levels of water soluble exstract the levels of compounds soluble in ethanol and levels of chemical constituents. Dried extract mode with F3 has better characteristics than the other formulas. The name of the extract is Extractum Phyllanthus niruri L.Siccum. The extract was in the form of dry powder, dark brown, odor like meniran crude herb with a strong flavor. Levels of water soluble extract was 55.1077 % b/b ± 11.2218 % b/b while levels of ethanol-soluble extract 18.7214 % b/b ± 0.6733 % b/b. flavonoid levels of the dried extract was 0.2413 % w/w.

Abstract

The quantitation of same metal such as cadmium, zink and lead from same sweetened condensed milk packed in the cans samples wich are collected in Pasar Raya Padang has been done. Metal measurament done by Atomic Aborbtion Spectroscopy (AAS). The result showed it’s zink quantity from sample A, B, C dan D are 24.3948 mg/Kg; 23.7886mg/Kg; 19.3428 mg/Kg; 19.3928 mg/Kg respectily, it’s cadmium were not identified, It’s lead quantity are 0.1434 mg/Kg; 0 mg/Kg; 0 mg/Kg; 0.1436 mg/Kg. It showed that sample A, and D have not complied the milk qualification of BPOM. RI. No. 03725/B/SK/VII/89 in metal compound.

Abstract

Evaluation about the effect of dimethyl sulfoxide in ketoconazole gel formulation and its penetration using Franz diffusion cell membrane has been done. This gel formulation was using base are dimethyl sulfoxide and tragacant. The vertical type cell of Franz diffusion cell, was used for the penetration test and its quantity determination was done by using spectrophotometry method. The ketoconazole penetration quantity and its capacity of penetrating from dimethyl sulfoxide and tragacanth base are F1: 8.34µg/mL and 21.275%, F2: 10.36µg/mL and 13.705%  F3: 6.56 µg/mL and 16.318% then F4: 10.36µg/mL and 26.030%.
