Abstract

Title: Elements Forming the Sense of Place of Taman Nostalgia as a Public Open Space in the City of Kupang   This research aims to identify the elements that form the sense of place in Taman Nostalgia as a green open space in Kupang. Sense of place is a psychological phenomenon that affects users' perceptions and relationships with their environment. Shamai's theory is used as the basis for the conceptual framework, which is then operationalized through interview and questionnaire methods as data collection tools. This study involves active participants, namely visitors to Taman Nostalgia. In-depth interviews are conducted to gain a detailed understanding of individual visitors' experiences with Taman Nostalgia, while the questionnaire is used to obtain broader data from visitors. The research findings indicate that the sense of place in Taman Nostalgia is strengthened by the presence of the Gong Perdamaian Nasional as one of the significant physical elements. Other relevant elements include architectural design, vegetation, and cultural elements, which also contribute to forming the sense of place. The implications of these findings can be used as a basis for the development and planning of public green open spaces, considering the elements that enhance users' emotional relationships with the urban environment.

Abstract

Title: The Form of Architectural Design in Bamboo Installation Exhibition Examined from the Ordering Elements In architectural practice, art installation exhibitions serve as a platform for visual communication between designers and the public, aiming to garner appreciation and achieve specific goals and objectives through the works. This study examines 18 rice field hut objects created and exhibited at the Archifarming 2023, an exhibition featuring bamboo installations designed by architectural practitioners and handed over to local farmers. Recognizing the importance of applying ordering elements in architectural design, this research explores design forms using one of the design theories, namely ordering systems, which encompass function, space, geometry, link, and enclosure. Combining observation and analysis of supporting literature, the data is processed descriptively, evaluatively, and comparatively to identify similarities and differences in each aspect. The dominant ordering element used in the Archifarming 2023 installation is geometry, and upon further research, there are interrelations between the ordering elements that are crucial to creating harmony in design. Additionally, utilizing bamboo as the primary material enhances insights into natural materials and locality aspects. These findings also offer new perspectives on architectural design development in art exhibitions, contribute to design practices, and stimulate sustainability considerations in improving the quality of bamboo installation exhibitions for architects, designers, exhibition curators, and the wider community.

Abstract

Title: The Relationship of Changes in The Form, Meaning, and Function of House Space in The Abdi Dalem Houses in Yogyakarta; Case Study: Abdi Dalem's House in Kampug Siliran, Kelurahan Panembahan, Kemantren Keraton, Yogyakarta City The Yogyakarta City Fort is one of the iconic architectural objects in the Yogyakarta Palace area. Within the fort are several traditional Kampung Abdi Dalem settlements; this residential area is often known as the Jeron Benteng area. Changes in the spatial layout of traditional village houses occur every period. Therefore, this study focuses on the relationship between changes in the form, meaning, and function of the house space in the Kampung Abdi Dalem Siliran settlement, Yogyakarta. The house's occupant is abdi dalem, who serves the Sultan's family. Cultural shifts due to globalization have caused changes in the function, meaning, and form of the house. The leading cause of the changes is the increase in family members and life-supporting activities such as economic and educational endeavors. This study aims to determine the characteristics of changes in the abdi dalem house in Kampung Siliran. The research approach uses qualitative research with case studies. Primary and secondary data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were then analyzed and tested for validity using the theory of spatial change flexibility. By analyzing changes in spatial layout, it is concluded that changes in the spatial layout of the abdi dalem house in Siliran Village did not change the main room, but only the additional rooms.

Abstract

Title: The Lighting Effect on Employee Performance in the Swarna Hutama Loka Asia, Bali Office Lighting is one of the essential aspects to support daily human activities. The result of the reflection of light onto an object allows us to see clearly and comfortably so that the work can be done correctly. A good workspace should fulfill the comfortability aspects of its users. One of them is visual comfort, which affects worker performance and productivity. Optimal employee performance and productivity can be achieved if the comfort points in the workspace comply with standards, i.e., the lighting design provisions for the workspace layout and the required light intensity. The research method used in this study is a comparative method with a combined methods approach, namely by comparing the results of qualitative (respondents' questionnaire) and quantitative (measurement of light intensity and Window Wall Ratio) methods according to SNI 03-6575-2001 standards: Procedures for designing artificial lighting systems in buildings. This method is used to analyze the lighting and visual comfort of the room and its relation to the productivity of Swarna Hutama Loka (SHL) Asia’s office users. Generally, if employees feel comfortable with the workplace's lighting intensity, their performance and productivity will also increase. However, it does not always work in some conditions due to factors other than lighting, such as furniture arrangement and environmental adaptation, which are not included in this research.

Abstract

Title: Facade Treatment as an Effort to Achieve Thermal Comfort in Omahdawa Surabaya Indonesia is a country with a high population density. Many large cities in Indonesia are currently experiencing an increasing population, while urban land for housing is becoming increasingly scarce, expensive, and limited. Surabaya is one of Indonesia's major cities with such limited land. This land limitation poses challenges for residents when building their homes, such as small land size and limited orientation. Omahdawa is an example of a Surabaya resident’s dwelling with a land width of only 2.5 meters but a length of up to 25 meters and only one orientation towards the West. This research will discuss how to properly manage the facade of Omahdawa so that residents can still get thermal comfort while inside using Autodesk Ecotect Analysis software simulation. The simulation was carried out by comparing thermal comfort in 3 conditions. The first condition is the Omahdawa design without opening response, the second is the existing design using perforated panel doors and windows, and the third is adding a double skin facade made of glass and perforated panels. The results showed that using perforated doors and windows can improve thermal comfort in the room because air flow can enter. Meanwhile, double-skin facades that use perforated panels were more effective in improving thermal comfort than glass materials.
