Abstract

Title: The Effect of Using Mediteran Soil as Cement Substitution Materials in Compressive Strength and Tensile Strength of Concrete Concrete is a composite material (mixture) of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, and water. The potential of limestone in Indonesia is very large, reaching 28.678 billion tons which is the main ingredient in the cement manufacture. In the long run it will be depleted because it is a non-renewable natural resources. So to reduce the use of limestone the utilization of Mediteran soil as a substitution for some cement in the manufacture of concrete is required. The initial idea is based on the chemical composition contained in the Mediteran soil almost identical to the cement, which is carbonate (CaO) and silica (SiO2). The purpose of this research is to reveal the influence of substitution of Mediteran soil by 20% and 40% in the compressive strength and tensile of the concrete at age 3, 7, 14, and 28 days with the number of test specimen each 3 pieces on each variation in 10cm x20cm cylinder with planning of concrete mixture refers to SK SNI method T-15-1900-03. The type of research used is quantitative with the experimental method of laboratory test and data analysis of comparative method and regression. The results show that compressive strength and tensile strength of concrete using Mediteran soil substitution comparable to  the strength of normal concrete with dry treatment. In the composition of 20% Mediteran soils decreased by 51.35% or 7.9 MPa (compressive strength) and 30.60% or 0.93 MPa (tensile strength). While the composition of 40% Mediteran soil decreased by 43.78% or 9.13 MPa (compressive strength) and 2.24% or 1.31 MPa (tensile strength).

Abstract

Title: Narrative Approach in the Design of Integrated Space Connectivity in Taman Kemang As a commercial area the Taman Kemang street has certain activities based on its functions such as parking ,working, selling (street vendors), eating and relaxing, people who just walk to Lippo Mall Kemang and activities from online transportation to deliver and pick up. However, as a commercial area, the Taman Kemang street does not have the balance of the daily activities as the city space. This is because different activities are defined by time from morning to night and weekdays and weekends. This is because the bordering space that are formed are utilized as parking lots and selling places of the street vendors which it should be utilized more as public spaces. Therefore, in this research, the author uses a narrative approach as an analysis process towards the design stage through the stages of the story - narrative - narration as a problem-solving solution. The process of analysis is based on activities on the Taman Kemang street through the motives of community activities that form events in a certain time. So that in the narrative stage a story concept is formed which is how to revive the bordering space of the daily narrative formed on the Taman Kemang street. Then supported by strategies at the stage of narration through 5 narrative landscape strategies and forming quality space, namely the formation of activity identity, space identity and continuity of the results of the integration of bordering space elements.

Abstract

Title: Identify tropical architecture in the old building at Jalan Siti Khadijah Bengkulu City Tropical architecture tries to deal with the tropical climate problems characterized by heavy rain, blazing sun, high air temperatures, high humidity (for humid tropics), and low wind speeds. The realization of a sustainable tropical city requires building environmentally responsive designs. The efforts could be made, such as selecting materials and models on buildings' external and internal appearance that suit to tropical city. Old buildings used to be built to adapt to the local climate. One of them is the old buildings on Khadijah street, which the existence is almost gone now. This study aims to identify the tropics element in old buildings that have adapted to the tropical climate. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method in case studies through observation and identification of the application of tropical architectural elements in the external appearance (building and roof orientation) and the internal appearance in the building (space, floor, wall, and opening patterns). The aim of this research is to fulfill the arguments for the community about the significance of maintaining the old buildings. This finding is needed to provide a logical reason for the community and government to conserve the old buildings in Bengkulu City.

Abstract

Title: Application of the Social and Behavioral Setting Concept on Balinese Architecture The neighborhood is formed unique as a result of the activities, reactions as well as behavior of the individuals who are living in it. The formation of the neighborhood has a natural architectural meaning which is determined by the necessity of individuals related to the division of the nature of space. The division of the nature of space is very apparent in Balinese traditional houses, it consists of the private to the public spaces. The nature of space is also studied in architecture behavior, and in this study behavioral approach is used in seeing the relationship between the nature of space and the physical appearance of Balinese architecture. This approach is also observing the pattern of user behavior that occurs repeatedly to form a distinct environmental order. This research was conducted to identify the spatial division and the formation of behavioral setting in which the behavior patterns is defined. The purpose of this study is to understand how the concept of behavior setting is applied in Balinese traditional houses. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative, by collecting data based on literature research on Balinese architecture. The results of this study are to explain the human needs of each arrangement based on the nature of the space, and also determine the formation of behavioral setting concepts in the arrangement of Balinese traditional houses.

Abstract

Title: Meaning Studies of Structural System in Lamin Houses This article aims to reveal the structural system and meaning of the Lamin house structure, a form of local wisdom of traditional architecture. The object of study is the Lamin house in Pampang Village, Samarinda City. The house still refers to traditional architectural principles such as human symbols or analogies such as the head, body, and legs. The research method is descriptive qualitative and based on an interpretive approach using interview techniques to the structural system that contains meaning. The results of the research are the Lamin house structure system consisting of a lower structure (sukaq), an upper structure (sulo), and a roof structure (sapau). The meaning contained in each of these structural elements illustrates that in the sukaq structure there is the power of natural and environmental support for humans, the sulo structure demonstrates the creation of a close kinship between humans, and the construction of sapau gives meaning to the existence of human relations with the supernatural. Local wisdom contained in traditional architecture is expected to be able to contribute to the enrichment of the world architectural knowledge.

Abstract

Title: Urban Signage as Philosophical Reinforcement Main Axis of Yogyakarta The history search of space-forming structure of Yogyakarta shows an axis or pivot that forms the main hall corridor of the city. The axes are connected to the point of the city elements in the form of buildings starting from the White Pal Monument (Tugu Pal Putih) building in the north of the city, the Sultan Palace in the middle of the city, and Panggung Krapyak in the south of the Palace. The axis series are called as philosophical axis of Yogyakarta. These axes have a very important value considering to its position in the main pivot of the city. It will certainly bring its consequence on all of the physical elements that form the region. One of these referred elements is the sign elements. The definition of the sign elements is landmark buildings, gates, nodes, billboards, traffic signs, information boards, art media (murals), monuments (sculptures), and the installations of three dimension art in the public space. The result of the identification in the field shows that, the first, the presence of the signs along the axis tend to be without special characters (distinct character), so the formed character of the space is closed to the other locations. The second, the existence of advertisement media or information boards whether commercial, social, or information from the government tend to be unorganized and dominate the available spaces. The specific elements in the form of work of art installation, monuments, gates, and heritage buildings that have already existed and form a special character to the region that impressed overwhelmed by the presence of advertising media and information boards so it is felt to be lost from the sight. The rearrangement of the advertising media and information boards, also the development of sign elements that have a good synergy will contribute to the value strengthening of philosophical axis of Tugu Pal Putih and Panggung Krapyak of Yogyakarta.
