Abstract

Anemia is a common health issue among adolescent girls, affecting their quality of life and developmental potential. One effective strategy to address this problem is through accessible and engaging health education. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of social media—particularly Instagram—as a health promotion platform to improve knowledge about anemia and iron supplementation (TTD) among adolescent girls. A pre-experimental one group pretest–posttest design was used, involving 70 participants who watched a 112-second educational video uploaded to the Instagram account @apotek.optimafarma. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test revealed a significant increase in knowledge after the intervention (p < 0.05). The McNemar test also indicated significant changes in several aspects of knowledge, particularly regarding general understanding of anemia, its symptoms, causes, and iron tablet usage rules. These findings suggest that video-based educational content on social media can be an effective and inclusive strategy for health promotion targeting adolescent girls. Social media has proven to be a powerful channel for engaging young audiences with informative and appealing health messages tailored to their digital habits.

Abstract

Underweight is a condition of malnutrition characterized by thin body weight or below normal. Parenting patterns related to feeding and weighing practices are one of the factors causing underweight. Poor nutritional status has an impact on growth disorders, low cognitive abilities and Intelligence Option values. This study aims to determine the relationship between feeding practices and weighing discipline with the incidence of underweight in toddlers aged 24-59 months in the working area of the Pengasih II Health Center, Kulon Progo Regency. The design of this study was cross-sectional. Data were obtained by interview using a questionnaire. The sampling technique was clustered random sampling. The number of research subjects was 176. Data analysis used descriptive analysis, Chi-square, and Binary Logistic Regression. There is a significant relationship between feeding practices (OR=2.256, p=0.023) and weighing discipline (OR=4.175, p=0.002) with the incidence of underweight in toddlers aged 24-59 months (p>0.05). The prevalence ratio of underweight in children aged 24-59 months is more often found in parents who are not disciplined in weighing their children every month and inappropriate feeding practices by parents in children. It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between feeding practices and weighing discipline in children aged 24-59 months with the incidence of underweight.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and reproductive issues are more common in adolescents with either an insufficient or an excessive nutritional status. The objective of this research is to find out what the relationship is between class X students' nutritional state, stress, and their consumption of macronutrients at SMAN 51 Jakarta. The participants in this cross-sectional study were 90 adolescents from SMAN 51 Jakarta. making use of the whole sampling procedure for sampling. Adolescents' nutritional status was evaluated using IMT/U. We measured macronutrient consumption using the 2x24-hour meal recall technique, and we measured physical activity and stress levels using a questionnaire. Protein, lipid, and carbohydrate consumption were significantly associated with nutritional status (p = 0.001), however neither physical activity nor stress levels were found to be correlated (p = 0.891 and p = 0.109, respectively). Finally, increased protein, lipid, and carbohydrate consumption is associated with an increased risk of abnormal nutritional status in adolescents.

Abstract

The Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program is a strategic initiative by the Indonesian government to ensure that all citizens have access to quality healthcare services without financial barriers. This study aims to analyze the causes behind the inactive status of BPJS (Indonesia’s national health insurance) participants, evaluate the effectiveness of UHC implementation in addressing access challenges, and examine its impact on the quality of healthcare services. A descriptive qualitative method was employed through a case study at a hospital in Bandung that has implemented the UHC program. Informants included BPJS administrative officers, healthcare workers, and patients who transitioned from inactive BPJS status to UHC participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis. The results showed that out of 173 applications, 89.6% of previously inactive BPJS participants were successfully enrolled in the UHC program. This policy had a positive impact, improving healthcare accessibility, service efficiency, and patient satisfaction. However, administrative and data validation issues were the main obstacles. These findings indicate that UHC is effective in expanding healthcare coverage, but it requires robust data systems and active local government support for policy alignment and funding.

Abstract

Turbidity is one of the important parameters in determining the quality of clean water. The river water used by the people of Desa Melayu Tengah as a source of daily needs has a turbidity level that exceeds the standard quality threshold. This study aims to determine the effect of varying doses of the natural coagulant from noni seed powder (Morinda citrifolia L.) on the reduction of river water turbidity. This study uses the true experimental method with a post-test only with control group design. Water samples were taken from the Martapura River, then treated with varying coagulant doses of 0 mg/L, 25 mg/L, 50 mg/L, and 75 mg/L, each with 6 repetitions. Data analysis was conducted using the one-way ANOVA test followed by the LSD (least significant difference) test. The research results showed a significant difference between the treatment groups (p < 0.001), with the optimum dose at 25 mg/L. However, the turbidity value after treatment has not yet reached the quality standard (< 3 NTU) based on Permenkes No. 2 of 2023. The use of this material still requires further development, including in terms of extraction methods, the correct dosage, and the possibility of combining it with other more reactive coagulant materials. For the time being, the public is still advised to use proven effective water purification methods, such as simple filtration, sedimentation with alum, or household filtration systems based on sand and activated charcoal.
