Abstract

Household food insecurity in Indonesia is a significant public health issue and a root cause of malnutrition. This research aims to systematically examine the relationship between household food insecurity, dietary diversity, and stunting. This review was conducted following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses) recommendations. A literature search was performed on the following databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect, MDPI, and Garuda Kemendikbud. The study focused on research conducted in Indonesia concerning household food insecurity, dietary diversity, and stunting, published between 2014 and 2023. Of the 635 original articles identified, only 9 met the criteria for this review. Five of the nine articles indicated that the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) unsafe was associated with a higher prevalence of stunting, and four of the nine articles showed that low dietary diversity was related to a higher prevalence of stunting. The findings suggest that strengthening household food security and increasing dietary diversity are crucial steps to reducing stunting in Indonesia.

Kelampaian Ilir Village had the lowest coverage, with only 46.9% (15 of 34 toddlers) receiving complete immunization. To analyze factors associated with immunization completeness among children aged 2–5 years in Kelampaian Ilir Village, Astambul Subdistrict, in 2024. This correlational analytic study used a cross-sectional design. The population was all toddlers aged 2–5 years targeted for complete immunization, totaling 82 individuals, using total sampling. The study was conducted from August to December 2024. Independent variables included maternal knowledge, employment status, and family support. The dependent variable was immunization completeness. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Maternal knowledge was significantly associated with immunization completeness (p = 0.032); mothers with good knowledge had more children with complete immunization. Family support was not significantly associated (p = 0.064); 56.9% of supported families still had incomplete immunization. Maternal employment status also showed no significant association (p = 0.186). Abstract

Indonesia is currently focusing on improving nutrition at every stage of life, including adolescents who are vulnerable to nutritional status issues influenced by factors such as body image, gender, dietary patterns, and attitudes. In Banjar Regency, 30.11% of adolescents experience nutritional problems such as severely underweight, underweight, overweight, and obesity. This study aims to determine the relationship between these factors and the nutritional status of adolescents at Senior High School 2 Martapura. This research employed a cross-sectional design with a sample of 103 adolescents selected from a population of 814 using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and measurements of body weight and height. The results showed that most adolescents had normal nutritional status (64.1%), positive body image (60.2%), inadequate dietary patterns (62.1%), and positive attitudes (50.5%). Based on Fisher’s Exact test (?<0.05), gender showed a significant relationship with nutritional status (p = 0.039), and based on the Spearman Rank correlation test (?<0.05), dietary patterns were also significantly related to nutritional status (p = 0.020). However, body image (p = 0.667) and attitudes (p = 0.137) were not significantly related to nutritional status. Health institutions and schools are expected to actively monitor and provide nutrition education, while adolescents are encouraged to adopt balanced dietary patterns. Future researchers are advised to examine other factors affecting nutritional status.

Abstract

Blood transfusion is a vital health service that saves lives but carries the risk of transfusion transmissible infections (TTIs), highlighting the need for rigorous donor screening. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of TTIs among blood donors at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Blood Transfusion Unit, Banjar Regency, in 2022–2023. A descriptive retrospective cross-sectional design was applied using secondary donor data with total sampling. Variables included HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis, analyzed using univariate methods. Most donors were male (80.83%), aged 25–44 years (55.12%), with blood group O dominant (37.40%), and the majority were regular donors (55.01%). In 2022, of 6,154 samples, 71 (1.15%) were reactive: HBsAg 77.46%, syphilis 18.31%, and HIV 4.23%. In 2023, of 6,538 samples, 72 (1.10%) were reactive: HBsAg 63.89%, syphilis 26.39%, and HIV 9.72%. Overall, the prevalence of reactive samples remained stable, with hepatitis B as the most common infection, though its proportion decreased, while syphilis and HIV showed increases. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening donor screening, expanding prevention programs, and improving public education to ensure safe and reliable blood supplies.

A cross-sectional design was applied involving 130 respondents selected through random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.009) and attitudes (p = 0.028) with household waste management behavior. Facilities showed a positive but non-significant relationship (p = 0.082), while policies indicated a significant negative relationship (p = 0.026).
