Abstract

This study examines the effects of herding behavior and overconfidence on investment decision-making among Generation Z in Jombang Regency in the Islamic (Sharia-compliant) stock market. The study is motivated by the growing interest in investing among young people, supported by financial technology, yet accompanied by vulnerability to behavioral biases that may affect the rationality of decisions. This research adopts a quantitative approach using a survey of 150 Generation Z investors in Jombang who actively invest in Sharia-compliant stocks. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The data analysis technique employed was PLS-SEM, and the analytical tool used was SmartPLS version 4. The results show that herding has no significant effect on investment decision-making, whereas overconfidence has a significant effect and is the most dominant factor. This indicates that Generation Z in Jombang does not tend to directly follow others’ behavior or external recommendations when making investment decisions. Instead, they are more influenced by a high level of self-confidence in their own ability to analyze market information. These findings suggest that Generation Z’s investment decisions in Jombang are highly rational. This study recommends strengthening Islamic financial literacy education to develop smarter and more mature investors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of cognitive bias in explaining the effectiveness of financial management among MSME actors in Tambakrejo Village, Jombang. A quantitative approach with an explanatory research design was employed using a survey method. Data were collected through a 5-point Likert-scale questionnaire measuring cognitive biases (e.g., overconfidence, anchoring, confirmation bias, availability bias, and loss aversion) and financial management effectiveness (financial planning, recordkeeping, budgeting, financial control, and financial evaluation). The sample consisted of 60 culinary MSME operators participating in the Ramadan Market in Tambakrejo, Jombang, selected using total sampling based on predetermined criteria. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 24, including descriptive statistics, instrument quality testing (validity and reliability/Cronbach’s alpha), classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing using linear regression (t-test and the coefficient of determination, ) at a significance level of 0.05. The findings are expected to provide empirical evidence on how cognitive biases influence financial decision-making and, in turn, affect the effectiveness of financial management among culinary MSMEs, thereby informing more targeted financial literacy and business mentoring programs for MSME actors in the study area.

Abstract

The adoption of electronic tax filing (e-filing) systems has been widely examined; however, less attention has been paid to factors influencing their continued use, particularly in public sector contexts. This study investigates the determinants of intention to use and continued use of Indonesia’s e-filing system by integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the DeLone and McLean Information Systems Success Model, with perceived system security and trust initially incorporated as extensions. Using survey data from 100 individual taxpayers and structural equation modeling with partial least squares (SEM-PLS), the study examines the relationships among perceived ease of use, information system quality, perceived system security, trust, and e-filing usage behavior. The results indicate that perceived ease of use, information system quality, and perceived system security significantly influence both intentions to use and continued use of e-filing, while trust does not function as a significant moderating variable. Information system quality emerges as the strongest predictor of usage behavior. These findings suggest that, in institutionalized e-government systems, continued use is driven primarily by system performance and security rather than by trust. The study contributes to the literature on information system continuance and e-government by highlighting how system quality operates as a key indicator of administrative effectiveness in public digital services.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of financial literacy and risk attitude on sharia investment decisions among Millennials in Jombang Regency. The increasing participation of young investors in the Islamic capital market highlights the need for a more comprehensive understanding of the cognitive and psychological factors that influence sharia-compliant investment decision-making. This research employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design through a survey of 80 Millennial respondents who have experience or interest in Islamic investment instruments. Purposive sampling was applied, and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with WarpPLS version 8.0. The results indicate that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on sharia investment decisions (β = 0.438; p < 0.001), and risk attitude also has a positive and significant effect (β = 0.334; p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.417) shows that both variables explain 41.7% of the variance in investment decisions, indicating moderate explanatory power. The predictive relevance value (Q² = 0.398) further confirms the model’s strong predictive capability. These findings suggest that sharia investment decisions are simultaneously influenced by rational factors (financial knowledge) and psychological factors (risk tolerance).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of ease of access to digital information and risk perception on sharia stock investment decisions among millennial investors in Jombang. The increasing number of millennial investors in Indonesia’s Islamic capital market highlights the need to understand the factors influencing their investment decisions, especially in the digital era where access to information is easier but also accompanied by various risks. This research adopts a quantitative approach using the Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method with SmartPLS Version 4 as the analytical tool. The population consists of millennial investors registered in the Sharia Investment Gallery (GIS) and investor communities in the Jombang area. The sampling technique employed is purposive sampling with criteria including individuals aged 20–40 years (millennial category), those who have invested in sharia stocks, and those residing in Jombang. The total sample size is 90 respondents. Data were collected through the distribution of online questionnaires using Google Forms. The variables examined in this study include ease of access to digital information, risk perception, and sharia stock investment decisions. Data analysis using SmartPLS Version 4 includes evaluation of the outer model (convergent and discriminant validity tests, as well as reliability tests using composite reliability and Cronbach’s alpha) and evaluation of the inner model (R-square, Q-square, and hypothesis testing using path coefficients, T-statistics, and P-values). The results indicate that ease of access to digital information and risk perception have a positive and significant effect on sharia stock investment decisions among millennial investors in Jombang. These findings suggest that the easier the access to digital information and the better the investors’ risk perception, the more prudent their investment decision-making.
