Jurnal Pembelajaran Sains (Print ISSN: 2355-7044; Online ISSN: 2527-9157) provides a place for teachers, academics, lecturers, and students to share and discuss the results of their research in the field of science education. JPS publishes academic articles that focus on teaching and learning science from a range of basic education to higher education. This journal serves as a bridge between researchers and practitioners (teachers at every level of education) in sharing and providing information, ideas and opinions about the reality of education experienced by each. Science education which is included in the focus of JPS is not only limited to science education at the junior high school level. JPS also publishes academic articles related to the results of research in the fields of chemical education, physical education, and biological education for the level of basic education to higher education. JPS also does not close itself to publish academic articles related to the integration of science education with other disciplines, such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), geography, social education, and art. However, academic articles relating to research in the field of pure science and education in general (not related to science / Science education) will not be considered for publication by JPS. Academic articles in the field of science education published by JPS can be in the form of empirical research, such as the development / application of learning models and strategies, the development and innovation of teaching materials and learning media, and the development of learning evaluation instruments. Both the academic articles of experimental research and the results of classroom action research (CAR) are highly accepted for publication in JPS. All academic articles published by JPS must follow the applicable research rules and any data / research results can be justified by the author.

Abstract

The instructor does not adhere to an effective pedagogical paradigm when presenting the content. One of the reasons why pupils do not study well is because of Guru. Guru does not adopt new methods of instruction and continues to exert control over the class. In light of the outcomes of kimia education, this essay explores using a problem-based learning strategy. This analysis relies on twenty publications in Google Scholar's renting from 2019 to 2023. The data findings utilized in data analysis methods are tables of analyzed articles published in scientific journals. Find academic publications to explore and do descriptive data analysis. The literature study found that using a problem-based learning approach may boost performance in the classroom.

Abstract

This research aims to examine and describe using the Problem-based Learning (PBL) learning model as a strategy to improve chemistry learning outcomes. This qualitative research uses a literature review method, which involves searching previously published writings to find theoretical references related to the case or issue. The secondary data analysis method uses data on student learning outcomes in the chemistry course with a quantitative descriptive approach. Documentation, or tracing textual sources with various themes and issues mentioned, is the method used to collect data. Some of the data sources are books, online journals, the internet, conferences, research findings, and information related to study materials.

Abstract

Digital literacy can be utilized in chemistry learning to support the learning process and improve students' understanding and learning outcomes about chemistry. This study aims to analyze digital literacy in chemistry learning in terms of the digital literacy profile of students and college students, the influence of digital literacy on learning outcomes, learning models, and media used to improve digital literacy. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) is a technique used to analyze research results from articles that have been published on students' digital literacy in chemistry in national and international journals as many as 20 articles with a span of 2019 to 2024. The analysis results concluded that the digital literacy skills of students and college students are very diverse. There is an influence on learning outcomes with the use of media and learning models to improve digital literacy that supports the chemistry learning process

Abstract

This study aims to analyze junior high school students' misconceptions related to temperature and heat material, and to improve the quality of learning through identifying concepts that are difficult to understand. The method used is descriptive qualitative with the Certainty of Response Index (CRI) approach to measure students' level of understanding. The research sample consisted of 108 7th grade students in Bangkalan district. The results showed that students experienced various misconceptions, especially on the concepts of temperature, heat, and heat transfer, with a significant frequency of misconceptions. These findings indicate the need for the application of more interactive and contextual learning methods, such as direct experiments and the use of visual illustrations, to improve students' understanding. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of identifying misconceptions in designing effective teaching strategies, as well as the need for further research with larger samples and diverse methods to understand the factors that influence students' understanding. This study is expected to contribute to the development of curriculum and teaching methods in physics education, as well as help students understand the concepts of temperature and heat better, so that they can improve their learning achievement.

Abstract

There are numerous reported studies to find the best way of teaching physics, but their quantitative analysis merely depends on some inferential statistics comprising ANCOVA, t-test etc. Those analysis do not generate detailed information of student’s abilities, therefore this study analyze the effects of double-loop problem solving teaching methods towards student’s critical thinking using Rasch analysis. In this study, the samples were divided into experimental group and control group with 28 students and 25 students respectively. After the intervention, their critical thinking was measured using instrument that has been validated and pilot tested using Rasch analysis by considering their reliability, item fit statistics, and unidimensionality. After data analysis, based on person measure, it was found that there is statistically significant post-test logit score between experiment and control class with pre-test as covariate, p value
