Abstract

Indonesia has entered the digital era. Many sectors have been affected by the development of existing digital devices and platforms, including the higher education sector. Sociologically, this influence must be anticipated because it will influence the transfer of knowledge and the phenomenon of qualification. If the transfer of knowledge is ineffective, the quality of the individual produced by the higher education level may be incompetent. This study aimed to dissect the role and attention on the transfer of knowledge that occurs, along with its impact during the digital era. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods through literature study techniques to synthesize existing empirical facts. The primary empirical data analyzed was the results of research on the transfer of specific knowledge and the phenomenon of qualificationism. The researcher found that digitalization influenced online learning and publication that were inter-related, despite differences in access, skills and benefits for individuals. On the other hand, the quality of higher education faced challenges because there was tacit knowledge that must be fulfilled and the phenomenon of qualification as the impact of higher education growth.

Abstract

The development of infrastructure and information technology has a significant impact on the relationship between Ruteng, the capital of the Manggarai district, and the surrounding villages. The mobility of the people between the cities and villages has led to new problems which previously did not have a significant influence. The shrinking of the rural agricultural sector and the development of the informal sector in the city are indicative of the dynamic relationship between the two. In order to see the phenomenon of changes that occur in the relationship between Ruteng and the surrounding villages, a theory of landscapes by Arjun Appadurai is used. Interviews were conducted with two entrepreneurs who employed people from five villages, namely Wae Belang, Pong Murung, Purang, Lando, and Nanu, and ten workers from those villages. Observations and literature reviews were carried out to support and complement the data obtained by the interview method. Technoscape, in the form of physical infrastructure development in rural areas and mediascape in the form of television and radio shows, as well as social media, became a pull factor for migration to Ruteng. Meanwhile, the traditional view in the form of go’et (traditional expressions) and the similarity of culture become the push factors for urbanization to Ruteng.

Abstract

The 1930s economic crisis in the United States had spread throughout the world and caused a number of social, economic, political and cultural impacts, including for the Dutch East Indies colonies. Karanganyar Regency, which was in the Bagelen Residency territory since 1901, had experienced the effects of the economic shock as well. Karanganyar was a district in the Kebumen Regency area. Before becoming a sub-district, Karanganyar was an independent regency and had its head of government from 1832 until 1936. Through literature studies, this paper intended to thoroughly analyze the existence of Karanganyar Regency in the colonial era, find out the background of its elimination, and the process of social change that occurred. To obtain the main variables that cause the elimination of Karanganyar Regency, the researcher utilized the historical comparative method. From the analysis, we concluded that the Economic Depression centred in the United States affected the Dutch East Indies colonies, particularly on the management of the government bureaucracy. This situation demanded the Dutch East Indies government to adapt to social change by removing a number of Regency, including Karanganyar Regency.
