Abstract

The purposes of this article are to describe the use of power, especially position power in a school. The position power constrains: coercive power, connection power, reward power, and legitimate power. Using this power by principal will cause response from teacher, either rejection or acceptation. One research study showed that only one of four position powers was used by high level (legitimate power) and others were used by low level.   Key Words: Penggunaan Kekuasaan (The use of power)

Abstract

There is two kind of conflict when system governance of nagari gone into effect. The first, internal conflict in the form of conflict that happened among Wali Nagari with all Ninik Mamak. Wali Nagari with BPAN institute. The second, external conflict in the form of conflict among Padang Sibusuk nagari elite with Kampung Baru countryside elite. This External conflict is caused by desire of Kampung Baru which supported by sub-province party to cut loose from Padang Sibusuk nagari to become nagari alone. This desire get about ossifying from Padang Sibusuk nagari as nagari come from caused by binding of custom agreement and ownership of Padang Sibusuk society customary tanah ulayat in Kampung Baru region. To overcome this problem hence Padang Sibusuk elite raise letter of claim to Regent and DPRD Sawahlunto Sijunjung, inviting Kampung Baru elite to negotiate at rumah gadang and otherwise succeed also, wali nagari with his formed asistensi team of PTUN UU Perdakab Sawahlunto Sijunjung number 22/99 (now 32/2004 about governance of nagari), specially section 3 b sentence because assumed to support Kampung Baru to become a governance of nagari. Abstract

The Indonesian Policemen is an instrument which plays a significant role in maintaining integrity and peacefulness in a society, maintaining law and giving the protection for nation, guardianship, and ready to give the best service for society in order to create the safety and orderliness in this country. However, we cannot deny that the work of the police officers apparatus was still not maximal yet. It needs to be improved and increased. Abstract

Political issue of New Order era has caused a "trauma" for certain groups such as women, especially Chinese women who in fact are lagging far away from political life. This article seeks to describe the political orientation of Chinese ethnic, especially on cognitive orientations and expectations towards the political issues after new order era. The finding of this study showed that cognitive orientation of Chinese women are still superficial and far from the expectation. Abstract

This article discusses about concept and urgency of state for human life, and characteristics of head of state based on political thinking of Ibnu Chaldun. It is indicated that political thinking of Ibnu Chaldun intended to build religious state based on Islam doctrine for human good. He suggested to understand the head of the state and its election need considering, social background, aspiration of the people in the state. To build the state all people need thinking and acting based on logical and realistical religious, avoiding emotional and egocentrical ways.   Kata Kunci: State, Khaldum’s Political/philoshophy

Abstract

This research focuses on PKS’s  strategy to win the election in terms of segmentation strategy, targeting, and establishing position. The problem is:“how is PKS, dealing with opportunity and treat, win the election in terms of internal and external context”?. Data was collected through depth interview and analyzed using Miles and Huberman models. The finding of the research showed that in terms of segmentation strategy, PKS focus on  five communities segmentation, those are;  1) group of modern and educated peoples,  2) group of community fishermen, 3)  groups of farmer on the villages, 4) young educated peoples who’s participated in the reform period, and 5) group of women as active voters. From all of segmentations, PKS focuses on young educated peoples as their targeting party, while in terms of positioning strategy, PKS stated it self as dakwah and reform party. PKS opportunity in general election in 2009 relates to three dominant factors, that are; 1) party’s image 2), recruitment member system and 3) Minangkabau society culture. Abstract

Many studies about women history, especially which of related to violence issues toward them, are strongly related to the issues of human rights and democratization. Along Indonesian history, the New Order era is assumed as the era that had high frequency of violence toward human rights, especially for women. The crucial issue of struggling for human rights and democratization is one of the issues related to social equity. This article tries to analyze some issues about women and violence during the New Order Era, especially that of related to the state policy of women in Indonesia, the violence opportunity of women, and the violence peak of women in the tragedy of Mei 1998. Abstract

Law is a complex system. Linkages between the elements can not be separated. Law is not just the law, the law is not always a command of the State authorities. Law is the result of social forces and means of social control. Legal basically non-sterile from social subsystem. Politics often intervene on the act and the implementation of the law. law can be viewed and studied from various angles. Law as a value, then reviewed by the legal and political filasafat law. Kaedah studied by law as legal science. law as a learned behavior by the Sociology of Law, legal anthropology and psychology of law. Abstract

This research aims to describe the factors which influence the voting behavior of young generation in general election 1999 in Padang Timur, West Sumatra. There are two clarifies variables that are used. They are : political comprehension and party identification. While the problems of this research are: Fisrtly, how much significance of political comprehension and party identification influence the voting behavior of young generation? Secondly, in all of that determine factors, which one is the most influence toward the voting behavior of young generation? Questionaires were distributed to 96 respondents in five kelurahan in Kecamatan Padang Timur. The data was analyzed by multi-regression methods. The result of analysis shows that there is a significance influence from political comprehension and party identification simultaneously toward the voting behavior. These two variables can give explanation about the voting behavior 54,48%, where as the biggest contribution is given by political comprehension about 68,16%.
