Abstract

The decrease in soil fertility due to over use of chemical fertilizers encourages the need to increase farmer awareness in utilizing more environmentally friendly nutrient sources. One alternative used in this study is humic acid in powder form. The study aims to determine the effect of humic acid on the growth and yield of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) variety Talam 1. The study was conducted from November 2023 to January 2024 at the Polinela Organic Farm, Lampung State Polytechnic. The parameters observed included plant height, number of branches, chlorophyll content, leaf width, and leaf length; as well as harvest parameters such as pod weight, number of empty pods, and filled pods. The study used a one-factor Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with a comparative treatment of humic acid doses to reduce the use of inorganic NPK fertilizers. The results showed that the height of peanut plants of Talam 1 variety at the age of 1 WAP and 5 WAP did not differ significantly in various applications of humic acid in powder form. The use of humic acid has the potential to increase pod weight per plant in the P2 treatment by 30% from the control and 18.7% from the recommended NPK dose treatment. Humic acid in powder form can be an alternative as an environmentally friendly soil conditioner to support the growth and production of peanuts.

Abstract

Suboptimal land in Pangkep Regency has the potential for developing peanut plants. However, the utilization of this suboptimal land is still not optimal due to limited information on land suitability and its carrying capacity. This study aims to optimize suboptimal land in Pangkep Regency through zoning of peanut plants based on carrying capacity using spatial analysis methods with Arc-GIS processing devices, digital land system data from Pangkep Regency. The suitability parameters for peanut plants that are determined and analyzed include 8 regional characteristics, namely Temperature, Drainage, Texture, Base Saturation, PH H2O, C-organic, Salinity, and Slope, to determine the land suitability class consisting of very suitable classes (S1), Suitable/fairly suitable (S2), marginally suitable (S3), or not suitable (N). Spatial analysis utilizes the Map calculator facility in Arc-GIS software (Arc View Gis) to match the suitability of each characteristic in Pangkep Regency with the requirements for growing peanut plants based on land suitability criteria. The results of the study indicate that (1) The Land Suitability Level Criteria for peanut plants in Pangkep Regency is the class according to the land suitability class level for peanut plants in Pangkep Regency is the Very Suitable Class (S1) Quite Suitable (S2), Marginally Suitable (S3) and Not Suitable Class (N). (2) The spatial distribution data obtained for the suitability of peanut plants in Pangkep Regency is the Very Suitable Class (S1) of 116,74 ha, Quite Suitable (S2) of 522,47 ha, Marginally Suitable (S3) of 31.718,93 ha, spread across 9 sub-districts in Pangkep Regency. While other suitability classes are Not Suitable (N) of 47.673,93 ha,

Abstract

The use of botanical pesticides is an environmentally friendly alternative to pest control. The weakness of botanical pesticides is their low adhesion to the leaf surface, thus reducing their effectiveness. This study aims to test the effectiveness of aloe vera gel as a natural adhesive in botanical pesticides made from soursop leaves. The study was conducted with a completely randomized design (CRD) using four doses of aloe vera gel (P0 = 0gr, P1 = 2gr, P2 = 4gr, P3 = 6gr) mixed with leaf extract. The mixture of extract and aloe vera was then sprayed on the feed. The parameters observed included the mortality of the test insects, the mortality rate and LC50. The results showed that treatment P3 (extract + 6gr aloe vera) caused the highest mortality of 2.4 individuals and was very significantly different compared to other treatments. The mortality rate 8-48 hours after observation showed that treatment P3 (extract + 6gr aloe vera) caused the highest and fastest mortality compared to other treatments. The treatment given to the test larvae showed body malformations such as stiffness and shortening of the body.

Abstract

Sloped land or land slope is one of the limiting factors in the growth and production of corn, Characteristics of sloped land have limited ability to develop a type of crop, including corn plants in an agricultural area. The purpose of the study was to analyze the suitability of corn crop land based on slope slope for corn plant growth (Zea mays L.) on agricultural land in Pangkep district. The implementation of this research began in Desember2024, in Pangkep Regency. The technique used in this study uses Arc-GIS devices, contour digital data is cut with the administrative map of Pangkep Regency, so that contour digital data for the Pangkep Regency area is obtained. The conclusions that can be drawn from this study are, land suitability based on slope slope in Pangkajene Regency and the Islands, there are 43,768.86 ha of land that is very suitable (S1) for the development of corn crops, 5,178.06 ha of land that is quite suitable (S2), 12,341.37 ha of land that is marginally suitable (S3), and there are 18,564.52 ha of land that cannot be used at all (N) in the land of suitability for corn crops in Pangkep Regency. So that the total number of S1, S2, S3 and N is 80,032.82 h
