Journal content covers the all care in relation to pregnancy, giving birth, postpartum period, newborn, reproductive health, and women’s health.

Problems in breastfeeding are caused by several causes including nipples issues (flat or injury), swollen breasts, and breast inflammation. These problems may occur due to improper breastfeeding techniques. The purpose of the research was to obtain an overview of mother's knowledge about the correct technique of breastfeeding. The research method uses descriptive approach, there were 20 women involved in this study. The results showed that 5 respondents (25%) had good knowledge, 3 (15%) had moderate knowledge, 12 (60%) had insufficient knowledge. This study also examined knowledge based on age, results showed that the majority of respondents aged 20-35 years (64.28%) had a lack of knowledge. Based on the background of formal education, the study revealed that most elementary school graduates were less knowledgeable about breastfeeding techniques (70%). Knowledge about breastfeeding techniques was also lacking in prim gravida respondents (100%). It can be concluded that respondents' knowledge is still lacking in breastfeeding techniques. Increasing women’s knowledge about breastfeeding techniques is needed because a good nutrition from breast milk will improve and support baby’s health.Keywords: breastfeeding techniques, knowledge, postpartum

AbstractMental health is a global problem including postpartum blues. Woman's perception of family’s support may increase postpartum blues symptoms. The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions of women with postpartum blues towards family supports in Al Islam Hospital, Bandung, Indonesia. The design was descriptive and samples were chosen using the purposive sampling technique. The number of respondents was 35 women, and the data were gathered using two questioners. There were family support and modification of Kennerly and Gath's questioner. The results showed that most of respondent's perceived family provided emotional support 75%, instrument support 51%, reward support 54%, and informational support 54%. Based on the result, it is an opportunity for the hospital to provide counseling or health education to patient or family about the patient need on family support.Keywords: Family Support, Perception, Postpartum Blues

The grief response could affect the treatment process and the condition of cervical cancer patients which directly gives impact on the patients quality of life. The medical practisers are responsible for helping the patients to pass through the grief process to prevent the adverse effects for the patients, thus it is necessary to know the condition of grief response as the data to analyze the problems and to plan the nursing interventions. This study purpose was to identify the grief response in cervical cancer patients at central hospital Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. The research design was a quantitative descriptive by used the questionary of Preparatory Grief in Advanced Cancer Patients (PGAC) with the validity value of 0.823-0.864 and the reliability value of 0.83. The research sample was the patients of cervical cancer with the total number of 50 persons. The technique of sample selection used an Accidental Sampling carried out in the period of two weeks. The research result from 50 patients showed that most respondents (76%) had low grief and a small number of patients (24%) had severe grief which required further intervention. A big number of respondents (60%) had prolonged grief. The grief responses which mostly existed were the response of emotional sadness (58%), meanwhile, the lowest response was religious comfort response (16%). Although the majority of respondents experienced low grief response, there are still existed severe grief response and also experienced prolonged grief. The high response of sadness showed all the patients of cervical cancer needed emotional and spiritual support as the efforts to prevent the low grief become severe grief response and also to overcome the severe grief and it not to be the prolonged grief.Keywords : Cervical cancer, grief response, preparatory grief.

Menopausal women experience physical and hormonal changes so that it often causes problems. This study is generally to identify menopausal women’s perception toward signs and symptoms of menopause in Kalijaga which is claimed as the village with the highest number of menopausal women in Cirebon. This study used descriptive quantitative research by applying the cross-sectional approach. The population of this study was women aged 45-55 years which were chosen using purposive sampling technique. Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) was used as the instrument of the study. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The findings showed that there were some signs and symptoms experienced by the respondents namely hot flushes and sweating (90.7%), heart discomfort (46.4%), sleep problems (72.2%), depressive mood (70.1%), irritability (76.3%), anxiety (75.3%), physical and mental exhaustion (80.4%), sexual problems (58.8%), bladder problems (71.1%), vaginal dryness (74.2%), joint and muscular discomfort (89.7%). The symptoms had different levels of severity and include all three dimensions. In addition, Most of the respondents had negative perceptions toward the signs and symptoms of menopause. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the respondents experience eleven signs and symptoms of menopause at varying scales of severity. It is suggested for the respondents to recognize the signs and symptoms of menopause and utilize health services in order to address the problems due to the signs and symptoms of menopause. It is also recommended for the respondents to follow elderly health programs.Keywords: Menopause, Perception, Signs, and Symptoms

Lactation management is management needed to support the success of breastfeeding. Based on the data obtained from Riskesdas in 2012, the incidence of early initiation of breastfeeding process in Indonesia was only 29.3%, one of the influencing factor was the condition of post-cesarean women. Breastfeeding process for women with cesarean would be very hard and cause psychological problems, such as anxiety. This study aimed to determine the relations between knowledge of lactation management and anxiety in the breastfeeding process in women post cesarean delivery. This study was a correlation study with cross-sectional approach. The number of samples was calculated using Slovin formula, 59 women involved in this study that chosen using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HARS) questionnaires and lactation management knowledge questionnaires. The relations analysis was performed using Spearman Rank Correlation. The result showed that 54.2% of mothers have moderate knowledge and 39.0% of them experience mild anxiety. Therefore, there was a significant relationship between the breastfeeding process and anxiety ρ 0.001 <0.05. It can be concluded that there is a relation between knowledge of lactation management and anxiety in the breastfeeding process. Conclusion, It is suggested that nurses should provide nursing care on postnatal period, especially on how to give the appropriate breastfeeding so that anxiety in the breastfeeding process in the post of cesarean can be prevented.Keywords: anxiety, breastfeeding, knowledge, lactation management, sectio caesarea

Pregnancy with tuberculosis is classified as pregnancies with medical complicated non obstetrical and gynecological. Pregnancy with tuberculosis multi drug resistance occur in women who have a history of non compliance of treatment or treatment failure. Pregnancy with infection of mycobacterium tuberculosis multi drug resistance can cause pregnancy disturbance and fetal development disorder in the form of premature delivery and low birth weight. Five cases of pregnancy with tuberculosis multi drug resistance in this case study has been getting nursing care by applying the theory of need for help wiedenbach in the acute phase and self care Orem in the maintenance phase. The application of nursing theory proved to meet immediate relief needs and promote self-care potential clients so that interruption of pregnancy can be overcome and preterm delivery did not occur. Specialist of maternity nursing have an important role in the management of nursing care of pregnancies with complicated, therefore maternity nurses need to improve the knowledge and clinical skills on an ongoing basis. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2012 stated that 44% of infant deaths in the world occurred in the first 28 days of life (neonatal period). The research results of the Central Statistics Agency (CSA) in 2016 noted that the infant mortality rate (IMR) reached 25.5%, West Java Province was one of the contributors to the highest maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR). Infant mortality inside the womb or outside the womb triggers grief and deep sorrow that is at risk of progressive, repetitive and permanent in women. Nurses in the maternity area play an important role in overcoming the problem of loss through various approaches to either theory or intervention. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of chronic sorrow theory in post-partum women whose babies were dead at Sariningsih Hospital Bandung. Method: This research was qualitative research. Participants were 5 people selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was done by interviewing using a guide from the Burke / Eakes Chronic Sorrow Assessment Tool. Results: It was identified that women's opinions about the causes of infant mortalities were planned (abortion) and unplanned. Participants had effective coping strategies in dealing with their loss such as social support, and spiritual beliefs for comfort. Conclusion: participants felt the effectiveness of the chronic sorrow theory to overcome infant loss.Keywords: chronic sorrow theory application, loss, post-partum women, Qualitative.

The underweight and overweight of under-five children in Indonesia are considered as a serious problem by WHO. One of factor affecting is parents' urge in fulfilling their child's nutritional needs is often behind a less precise of feeding practice, this will have an impact on children's daily eating behaviour because children with 3 to 5 years old showed an attitude picky eater and included into active consumers. This study is intended to identify the relationship between mother's feeding behavior with 3 to 5 years old children’s eating behavior in Babakan Sari, Kiaracondong District. The study used a descriptive correlation method with the cross-sectional approach and proportional random sampling technique. The samples of the study were 89 people. The data were collected through the instrument Comprehensive Feeding Practice Questionnaire (CFPQ) for the practice of children feeding and Child Eating Behavior Questionnaire (CEBQ) for the children eating behavior. The data were analyzed through univariate and bivariate analysis used Chi-Square test. The results showed that 58,4% of the respondents conducted a less precise feeding practice and 78,7% of the mothers perceives eating behavior children have a good eating behavior. It can be concluded that is no relation between the practice of mother’s feeding behavior with the 3 to 5 years old children’s eating behavior in Babakan Sari, Kiaracondong District (p-value > 0,05).Keywords: eating behavior, feeding practice, nutrition, preschool, under-five children

In 2016, community health center of Pasundan Garut was the first rank in terms of the total number of chronic deficiency energy for pregnant women in Garut. The characteristics of pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency (abbreviated as CED) are not definitely identified. This research is aimed to identify the characteristics of pregnant women with CED. This descriptive research used quantitative approach. The population of this study was 61 pregnant women with CED and the whole population was taken as samples. The research instrument was developed from the Child Identity Card book and the data was collected by using interview and documentation study. The result of the documentation study showed that most pregnant women with CED were at not risk age (62.3%), not educated women (59%), unemployed women (68.9%), at not risk parity (98.4%), birth spacing ≥ years (54.1%), no pregnant complication found (78.7%), no history of infectious diseases and allergies (85.2%), consuming Fe tablets (68.9%). The data collected through interview revealed that the respondents had low income (85.2%) and no diverse diet (59%) because they hardly to consume fruits, ate lack portion, had dietary restrictions and processed the food with the wrong manner. This research concludes that the main cause of CED in the community health center of Pasundan Garut is generally described based on the characteristics of family income and dietary pattern. Therefore, it is considered necessary to do counseling and guidelines to exploit and take full advantage of potential such as a vertical garden for self-sufficiency.Keywords: Chronic Energy Deficiency, Characteristic, Pregnant Women.

The maternal mortality rate in Garut Regency was 74 cases in 2016 and 25% of them was due to preeclampsia. There were 96 pregnant women treated for Preeclampsia from January to November 2017 in the Kalimaya Room of Dr. Slamet Garut Hospital. Preeclampsia is an increase in blood pressure in pregnant women after 20 weeks of pregnancy and proteinuria. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the history of hypertension and the incidence of preeclampsia in the Kalimaya Room of Dr. Slamet Garut Hospital. This research applied the analytic correlation method with Case-Control approach. Simple Random Sampling was chosen, and the number of samples was 49 respondents as the case group and the control group was 98 respondents. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate analysis with Chi-Square test. The results showed a relationship between the history of hypertension (p=0.0001) and the incidence of preeclampsia. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for families to get to know as early as possible the risk factors for preeclampsia, especially a history of hypertension. Health workers can provide counseling to pregnant women about interventions to prevent preeclampsia and its treatment.Keywords: hypertension, preeclampsia, pregnancy
