Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of individual and group assignments on learning outcomes in class VII descriptive texts at junior high school. This research was conducted in class VII F and VIIG each class amounting to 32 students. To obtain the necessary data, the researchers used methods in the form of observation, written tests, non-written tests, documentation, while the analytical method used was quantitative data methods in the form of numbers. Data analysis techniques used by researchers are validity test, reliability test, multicollinearity test, heteroscedastic test, normality test, hypothesis testing. The results of this study are the influence of learning outcomes in descriptive texts on individual and group assignments. From the results of the hypothesis that students who are given individual assignments have better learning outcomes of 0.579 compared to the learning outcomes of 0.564 produced by students who are given group assignments Keywords: Description Text, Quantitative Method, Assignments, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the influence of using YouTube learning media on the Poetry Writing skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 7 Jambi City. This research was carried out at SMP Negeri 7 Jambi City. This research took place from January 15 2024 to January 30 2024. The sampling technique used a purposive sampling technique from the population. Data collection techniques use tests and documentation. In this research, the tests that will be carried out are pretest and posttest. Data analysis techniques in this research are very important to determine learning outcomes in the learning process using YouTube learning media using test recapitulation. Before analyzing the data, things that need to be considered are carrying out pre-requisite tests for data analysis, including data normality tests, data homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests. The research results show that the use of YouTube learning media in learning to write poetry has a significant influence in improving students' skills in writing poetry.Kata Kunci: Yotube, Menulis Puisi

Abstract

The aims of this research are (1) to describe the need and urgency of a guide for writing scientific publication articles for students and (2) to develop a guide for writing scientific publication articles for students of the Civil Engineering Department. This study uses a research and development approach. The validation of this guide is carried out in terms of content/material feasibility, presentation, language, and graphics. The target user guide for writing articles for scientific publications is Bachelor of Applied Civil Engineering students. The results of this study are (1) guidelines for writing scientific publication articles are needed to support the skills of Civil Engineering students to be productive in writing scientific publication articles and (2) guidelines for writing scientific publication articles for students of the Civil Engineering Department are developed based on regulations, systematics, and based writing ethics so that the results can be accounted for and have a scientific contribution in vocational tertiary institutions.

Abstract

Before translating, translators need to observe the process of translation and one of them is source language text analysis. Therefore, the purpose of research is to identify persuasive technique that it is used by writer to present a Jakarta city in tourism website. The approach of this research is qualitative descriptive. Then, the data is sentences that contain persuasive language and the source of data is tourism website (www.indonesia.travel/id/id/home) Indonesian version. Furthermore, data is collected through documentation and note taking technique after that data is analyzed by (Miles, MB., Huberman & Saldana, 2014) and Keraf (2004) theory. The result showed that the uses of rationalization persuasive technique is more dominant (17 data) than identification persuasive technique (10 data). It can be concluded that the writer attempted to persuade audiences (tourists) through the fact and truth about tourism destination of Jakarta city. Next, it will be consideration for translators. Thus, text (tourism website) contains persuasive language so that there will be analysis step before translating the text (Indonesian into English version).  Keywords: Source Text Analysis, Persuasive Technique, Tourism Website,                   Jakarta City

Abstract

Kemitraan antara mahasiswa dan dosen membutuhkan komunikasi, baik dalam maupun di luar kampus. Komunikasi tersebut seharusnya tetap berada dalam batas-batas nilai kesantunan, meskipun dituturkan dalam situasi semiformal. Penelitian ini meneliti gaya berbicara dan nilai kesantunan yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa dalam berkomunikasi dengan dosen melalui WhatsApp. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsi dan menganalisis kesantunan berbahasa yang dipakai oleh mahasiswa ketika berkomunikasi dengan dosen melalui WhatsApp dan mendeskripsi dan menganalisis penyimpangan prinsip kesantunan berbahasa yang dipakai oleh mahasiswa ketika berkomunikasi dengan dosen melalui WhatsApp. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah aplikasi chatting WhatsApp. Data penelitian berupa tuturan mahasiswa yang digunakan untuk berkomunikasi dengan dosen melalui WhatsApp. Data tersebut digunakan untuk menghimpun informasi sehingga dapat dianalisis. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode observasi, teknik catat, dan wawancara. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan rata-rata mahasiswa santun dalam berkomunikasi dengan dosennnya. Penggunaan salam, kata sapaan, permohonan maaf dan penggunaan kromo sering dilakukan, walau ada ketidak santunan seperti penggunaan Bahasa gaul dan Bahasa tradisional. Saran penelitian ini agar setiap mahasiswa dapat menggunakan kesantunan berbahasa diterapkan dalam WA group.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pendekatan semiotik antara lain ikon, indeks, dan simbol yang terdapat dalam Novel Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini Karya Marchella FP. Metode pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian dalam Novel Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini karya Marchella FP meliputi: 1) Ikon terdapat 13 data dalam Novel Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini karya Marchella FP. 2) Indeks terdapat 16 data dalam Novel Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini karya Marchella FP. 3) Simbol terdapat 18 data dalam Novel Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini karya Marchella FP. Ikon dalam kajian semiotik berupa tanda yang merepresentasikan benda. Sementara itu, Indeks disebut juga tanda dalam kajian semiotik. Tanda tersebut terdapat hubungan sebab akibat. Kalimat sebab tidak dapat berdiri sendiri tanpa kalimat akibat, karena kalimat sebab merupakan alasan munculnya kalimat akibat. Adanya kalimat sebab akibat tersebut membentuk satu kesatuan yang saling melengkapi. Selanjutnya simbol dalam kajian semiotik yang melambangkan makna aslinya. Simbol membutuhkan proses pemaknaan lebih dalam karena simbol bersifat bebas, dalam maksud tergantung cara pandang setiap orang yang memaknainya.
