Abstract

Giving ASI is the basic capital of forming a quality human being where this process starts at an early age, especially if the mother gives her ASI exclusively. Exclusive breastfeeding is carried out from birth to a 6 month old baby without other food or drinks. The coverage of exclusive 6 months breastfeeding in Indonesia is still far from the world average of 38%. This study aims to determine the characteristics of KP-ASI with the smooth operation of breast milk in Gayaman Village, Mojoanyar District. This study uses analytical survey methods with a correlational research design. Data collection method with cross sectional approach. The population in the study were breastfeeding mothers who had babies 0-6 months as many as 25 people. The results showed that from several characteristics there were 3 characteristics that influence the smoothness of breastfeeding, namely the characteristics of the number of children, education and sources of information, where each characteristic had a value of p value <0.05. While the characteristics of age and work are not related to the smooth operation of breast milk. Counseling from health workers needs to be improved in nursing mothers since pregnancy, especially in the third trimester. Support from the family and the environment is also needed so that nursing mothers feel calm, comfortable during the nursing process.

Abstract

Wet noodles are flour-based foods and are widely consumed by the community because the processing is relatively easy. So that wet noodles are more durable and more chewy, sometimes wet noodles are added with formalin and borax. Therefore this study will analyze the formalin and borax content in wet noodles. According to SNI 2987: 2015 there should be no formalin and borax preservatives in wet noodles, and the minimum level of protein is 9.5%. Determination of qualitative analysis of formaldehyde using color testing while qualitative analysis of borax uses a flame test. Determination of protein content in wet noodle samples using the Kjeldahl method. Based on the results of research on 3 samples of wet noodles sold at Pasar Gedhe, Surakarta City and its surroundings, negative or no formaldehyde and borax results were obtained, so they meet the quality requirements of wet noodles based on SNI 2987 : 2015. The average protein content in wet noodles is very small in sample A of 0.31%, sample B is 1, 22% and sample C is 2.61%, so they do not meet the quality requirements of wet noodles based on SNI 2987 : 2015.

Abstract

Health workers, especially students of the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) have a greater risk of contracting hepatitis B virus infection from exposure to body fluids when doing clinical labs. The importance of seroprevalence, knowledge and attitudes greatly influences students when doing practicum as a preventive measure for hepatitis B infection. This study aims to identify MLT student’s seroprevalence, knowledge and preventive attitudes towards hepatitis B virus infection. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using a cross-sectional study design carried out in one of the health universities in Surakarta in October - November 2018. Subjects were taken using total sampling techniques with a total of 71 students study in D-IV Medical Laboratory Technology. Data collection was done by questionnaire about knowledge, and preventive attitude of hepatitis B infection in students and blood samples collected and screened with HBsAg examination. Data analysis using computerization with SPSS version 21. The results showed that MLT students had good knowledge of 80.3%, good preventive attitudes of 97.2%, and seroprevalence of 1.4% of students with positive HBsAg. Knowledge and preventive attitudes of MLT students fall into the good category. Seroprevalence of D-IV MLT students showed poor results. It is expected that the higher education institution to carry out HBsAg examination as a college entry requirement, so that it can reduce work risks and can improve work safety as medical personnel.

Abstract

One of the bacteria contaminating many swimming pools in Tangerang is Staphylococcus aureus. This research is conducted to identify the resistance of Staphylococcus aureus isolates found in swimming pools in Tangerang to antibiotic. The research was started with isolation of S. aureus from swimming pools in Tangerang using a selective medium of MSA (Manitol Salt Agar), followed by gram staining, catalase test and coagulase test. Antibiotic resistance test was performed using Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method based on the recommendation of Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). As many as 12 isolates of S. aureus found in swimming pools in Tangerang were tested on five types of antibiotic i.e. AMP (amphycillin) (10µg), CIP (ciprofloxacin) (5µg), TET (tetracycline) (30µg), OXA (oxacillin) (1µg), and FOS (fosfomycin) (200µg). The results of the research show Staphylococcus aureus isolates found in swimming pools in Tangerang has varying degree of resistance to antibiotic. All the tested Staphylococcus aureus isolates are sensitive to amphycillin, ciprofloxacin, tetracycline, and oxacillin. Moreover, there are 8 isolates resistant to fosfomycin and 4 isolates sensitive to fosfomycin.

Abstract

Toxicity due to alcohol is the most common cause of liver disease and ranks health resources worldwide. In developed countries, alcohol is the main cause of cirrhosis (PalP and Ray S, 2016). People who consumes a lot of alcohol will tend to have haematological dan bone marrow’s problems, where blood is produced. The bad effects of alcohol on blood cell production occur directly or indirectly. The direct effects of excessive alcohol consumption are toxic effects on the bone marrow, red blood cells, mature erythrocyte cells, leukocytes and platelets. The indirect effect of alcohol consumption is a nutritional deficiency that can disturb production and function of various blood cells. (Ifeanyi O.E, et al, 2014). In this study, the levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), haemoglobin, erythrocytescounts, leukocytes counts, platelet counts, haematocrit and Protrombine Time (PT) and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) in 30 alcoholic malesat 20-50 years old were examined. From 30 respondents, haemoglobin data, the number of erythrocytes, the number of leukocytes, the number of platelets, haematocrit, PT, aPTT, AST, ALT were obtained and the ratio was also calculated. The results of the Spearman test, the AST/ALT ratio data with haemoglobin levels (p = 0.741), AST/ALT ratio with erythrocyte count (p = 0.778), AST/ALT ratio with leukocyte count (p = 0.472), AST/ALT ratio with platelet count (p = 0.95), AST/ALT ratio with haematocrit (p = 0.88), AST/ALT ratio with PT (p = 0.757), AST/ALT ratio with aPTT (0.352). There was no significant difference between the AST/ALT ratio and the haematological profile in alcohol drinkers (p> 0.05). The importance of paying attention to diet as part of a disease prevention.
