Abstract

Background – Rapid changes in the business environment, especially from external factors, require business people to be able to choose and develop the right business. The right choice of business can lead to optimal organizational performance. Aim – The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze (1) the effect of green products on organizational performance; (2) the effect of green innovation on organizational performance; (3) the effect of green products on the business environment; (4) the effect of green innovation on the business environment; (5) the effect of the business environment on organizational performance; (6) the effect of green products on organizational performance through the business environment; (7) the effect of green innovation on organizational performance through the business environment. Design / methodology / approach – The respondents in this study were business actors and strategic decision makers in green tourism businesses located in Gresik Regency and Bojonegoro Regency. The analysis tool used was SEM with SmartPLS software. Findings – The results of the study indicate that green products and green innovation have a positive and significant effect on organizational performance, and green innovation has a positive and significant effect on the business environment. However, green products do not have a positive and significant effect on the business environment. The business environment also does not have a positive and significant effect on organizational performance. Meanwhile, the business environment fully mediates the effect of green products on organizational performance, and the business environment also fully mediates the effect of green innovation on organizational performance. Conclusion – (1) Green products can improve organizational performance, but cannot improve the business environment; (2) Good green innovation can improve organizational performance and the business environment; (3) The business environment cannot improve organizational performance; (4) The business environment cannot mediate the influence of green products on organizational performance; (5) The business environment cannot mediate the influence of green innovation on organizational performance. Research implication – (1) The results of this study indicate that business environment variables and organizational performance have the lowest average values compared to other variables, so the business environment, such as Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity, faced by decision-makers in tourism needs to be further improved; (2) Decision-makers in tourism, for the most part, have innovative ideas that leverage the unique potential of each location; however, these innovations cannot be implemented due to the limited capital available to organizations. Therefore, in the future, the tourism sector must collaborate with investors by promoting its tourism potential. Limitations – (1) Future researchers need to consider a broader scope of research objects, both in the same object of green tourism and on a larger scale such as green entrepreneurship, in order to enrich the results and findings of the research; (2) This study only uses a few indicators to reflect the existing variables, so that future research can expand and integrate the research model by including several other indicators that are considered appropriate for the object taken.

Abstract

Background – Studying while working is not easy. When demands exceed a person's resources and abilities, their mental health can be affected. Various risks of studying while working can occur, and there is evidence that fatigue and insomnia are common among working students. According to research conducted by Allison Vaughn, a research psychologist from San Diego University, students who also work are at greater risk of experiencing mental health problems. Stress is a mismatch between a person and their environment, resulting in their inability to cope with the various demands placed on them, according to physiological, behavioral, psychological, and somatic symptoms and signs. Based on the results of research by Hidayati (2023), it was found that the average level of Mental Workload of working students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Muhammadiyah University of Gresik is categorized as high with an average score of 77.64. Aim – This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between mental workload and work stress among working students at the Faculty of Economics, Muhammadiyah University of Gresik Design / methodology / approach – This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. Accidental sampling was used for sample collection. The measurement tools included the NASA-Task Load Index (TLX) form to measure mental workload and the Job Stress Scales (JSS) questionnaire to assess stress experienced by working students. The Pearson Correlation Test (Pearson Product Moment Correlation) was used to analyze the relationship between mental workload and work stress among working students. Findings – The majority of respondents, 54.41%, reported a very high mental workload. The Mental Workload Indicator that most significantly influenced the mental workload of working students at the Faculty of Economics, Muhammadiyah University of Gresik, was the Temporal Demand (TD) Indicator. The majority of respondents, 69.12% of working students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Muhammadiyah University of Gresik, reported experiencing moderate work stress. The correlation test revealed no relationship between mental workload and work stress. Research implication – There is a need for time management for working students to reduce the mental workload they experience and it is necessary to identify the causes of work stress in themselves.   Limitations – This research has a research object limitation, namely at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Muhammadiyah University of Gresik, specifically for students who are also workers.

Abstract

Background – This study investigates the relationship between financial literacy and business sustainability among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Malang Regency/City, emphasizing the mediating role of business performance. The research aims to uncover how financial literacy affects operational decisions and outcomes, offering practical insights for improving long-term sustainability. Aim – This study aims to explain in detail the effect of financial literacy on MSME sustainability, while considering the mediating role of business performance. The focus is to identify the extent to which financial knowledge influences operational efficiency and the long-term resilience of businesses. Design / methodology / approach – A quantitative method was used with a sample of 300 MSMEs that have operated for at least one year. Using simple random sampling, data were collected and analysed with Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Findings – The results indicate that financial literacy has a positive and statistically significant effect on MSME business performance (β = 0.471; t = 8.708; p < 0.001). Financial literacy also shows a direct positive effect on business sustainability (β = 0.201; t = 3.536; p < 0.001), while business performance demonstrates a stronger direct influence on sustainability (β = 0.567; t = 12.719; p < 0.001). The model explains 22.1% of the variance in business performance and 46.9% of the variance in sustainability, indicating acceptable explanatory power. These findings confirm that business performance acts as a critical mediating mechanism through which financial literacy enhances business sustainability, suggesting that improving entrepreneurs’ financial capabilities contributes both directly and indirectly to sustainable MSME development. Conclusion – The conclusion obtained in this study is that financial literacy has a positive and statistically significant effect on MSME business performance, financial literacy has a direct positive effect on business sustainability, and business performance has a critical mediating role between financial literacy and business sustainability Research implication – The results show that financial literacy significantly improves MSME performance (β = 0.471; p < 0.001) and sustainability (β = 0.201; p < 0.001), while performance strongly drives sustainability (β = 0.567; p < 0.001). These empirical patterns indicate that financial education initiatives should be prioritized because they improve performance first, which then strengthens sustainability. Policymakers are therefore encouraged to design targeted, practical financial programs linked to performance coaching. Limitations – The study is limited to the Malang region and uses a quantitative design. It focuses on three variables, excluding factors like access to financing, government support, technology, and market dynamics.

Abstract

Background - Human resources are a strategic asset for organizations in achieving long-term goals, including in military organizations that demand discipline, loyalty, and a high level of work commitment. Work commitment is a crucial factor because it reflects an individual's psychological attachment to their work and willingness to maintain membership in the organization. High work commitment is believed to improve organizational stability, individual performance, and the overall sustainability of the institution. Aim – This study aims to analyze the influence of person–job fit and job satisfaction on work commitment, with career development as a mediating variable among members of Pasmar (Marine Corps) 3. Design/Methodology/Approach - This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires to all members of Pasmar 3 using a census technique, thus serving as the entire population sample. The number of respondents in this study was 110. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS software. Findings - The results of the study indicate that: (1) person–job fit has a positive and significant effect on career development; (2) job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on career development; (3) person–job fit has a positive and significant effect on work commitment; and (4) job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on work commitment. However, (5) career development does not have a significant effect on work commitment, and (6) career development is unable to mediate the relationship between person–job fit and job satisfaction on work commitment. Conclusion - Person-job fit and job satisfaction play a dominant role in increasing work commitment, while career development has not been proven to act as a mediating variable in this relationship. Research Implications - This research provides practical implications for organizations, particularly military institutions, that increasing member work commitment is more effective through improving individual job fit and job satisfaction, rather than solely focusing on a formal career development system. Limitations - A limitation of this research is that the research was conducted only in one military unit, namely Pasmar 3, so the results cannot be generalized to other organizations. Furthermore, this research used a cross-sectional design, which only describes conditions within a specific time period.

Abstract

Background – In a dynamic organizational environment, employee participation through voice behavior plays an essential role in enhancing organizational effectiveness and innovation. One of the factors believed to influence voice behavior is Perceived Organizational Justice (POJ), which encourages employees to express their ideas and opinions constructively. In addition, the quality of the relationship between leaders and members (Leader–Member Exchange / LMX) also has the potential to strengthen this influence. Therefore, it is important to understand how organizational justice perceptions affect employee voice behavior, both directly and through leader–member relationships. Aim – This study aims to examine the effect of Perceived Organizational Justice (POJ) on Employee Voice Behavior (EVB) with Leader–Member Exchange (LMX) as a mediating variable among employees of PT Cahaya Bumi Musi. Design / methodology / approach – This study employs a quantitative approach with a survey method. This study employed a quantitative survey design using a census approach involving all 50 employees of PT Cahaya Bumi Musi. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. Findings – The results show that POJ has a positive and significant effect on EVB, as well as a positive and significant effect on LMX. However, LMX does not have a significant effect on EVB and does not mediate the relationship between POJ and EVB. Conclusion - Perceived organizational justice has a positive and significant effect on employee voice behavior and leader–member exchange at PT Cahaya Bumi Musi. However, leader–member exchange does not have a significant effect and does not mediate the relationship between organizational justice and employee voice behavior, indicating that organizational justice plays a more dominant role. Research implication – The findings provide practical implications for management to develop a transparent and participative organizational justice system to encourage employees to express ideas and constructive suggestions. Limitations – This study is limited to one company, namely PT Cahaya Bumi Musi, so the generalization of the results should be made with caution. Future research is recommended to include different industrial sectors and consider contextual factors such as organizational culture and leadership style.

Abstract

Background: The rising number of TikTok users in Indonesia intensifies competition for audience engagement. Consequently, MSMEs innovate by employing chaotic and disruptive content presented in a humorous and ludicrous manner, referred to as noise. Aim: The purpose of this study is to examine how Indonesian MSMEs create and narrate noise content on TikTok, how audiences react to this content in the context of local digital culture, and to determine the prerequisites for success, efficacy constraints, and dangers of employing noise as a marketing communication strategy for MSMEs in the face of attention economy competition. Methodology: a retrospective netnography of postings from five Indonesian MSME TikTok accounts conducted between May and October. Data extraction via Apify.com encompassed 495 videos and 1,426 comments. A purposive sampling method with a maximum variation strategy was employed. Inductive thematic analysis was performed in five stages. Continuous engagement, triangulation, peer debriefing, and negative case analysis validate the findings. Results and Discussion: Five MSME accounts show a variety of noise characteristics, including cultural adaptation, aggressive integration, raw editing, memes, and AI-generated content, according to the research findings. Positive resonance, which is typified by a sense of in-group belonging and shared humor, and interrogative replies, which comprise inquiries expressing interest and a need for more information, are the two primary types of audience responses. The congruence of brand identity, audience expectations, and message delivery all affect how effective noise strategy is. While @geroz_official only reached 1.74% because of the predominance of repetitive hard selling and little story innovation, the @danielbudianto28 account obtained the greatest engagement rate of 8.25% because of a soft selling strategy and contextual content diversity. Conclusion: The noise strategy represents a daring and inventive approach to engaging viewers in a congested media landscape. The five MSMEs recognized that incorporating noise would yield distinction along with cost reductions. Implications for Research: The noise strategy can be regarded as a strategic and sustainable innovation that facilitates algorithmic negotiation among creators, viewers, and platforms. The Noisy Marketing Implementation Framework was developed for SMEs to encompass tools for evaluating preparation, content guidelines, risk mitigation checklists, and performance indicators. Limitations: This analysis pertains to five micro, small, and medium-sized firms (MSMEs) within the F&B and service sectors, encompasses a six-month observation period, concentrates on public comments, lacks long-term data regarding brand loyalty, and is restricted to a single platform.
