Abstract

Suji leaves are one of the new materials that can form natural fibers. Suji leaf fiber is fiber obtained from suji leaves. Suji leaf fiber is one of the new materials that can be made into composite materials. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of immersing leaf fiber on liquid smoke and NaOH with fiber volume fractions of 15%, 20% and 25%, angular orientation (0°) and soaking times of 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours. Making composites using the hand-lay up method. Sampling using the full factorial method. The highest bending test result was in immersion of liquid smoke of 48.23 MPa at 25% fiber percentage with 1 hour immersion time. This means that the longer the soaking process of suji leaves with liquid smoke will decrease the flexural strength. The highest flexural test result was in NaOH immersion of 40.6 MPa at 20% fiber percentage with 3 hours of immersion time. This means that the longer the soaking process with NaOH will increase the flexural strength. Based on the BSAPI standard from the results of the bending test, the results obtained in this study cannot be used for making wall climbing panels because they do not meet the requirements, namely 112.8 Mpa, but for the manufacture of other materials such as car dashboards which have a type of High Impact ABS plastic material. 37-76 MPa.

Abstract

Paid Leave is one of the rights of worker for their absence from office due to different reasons such as sickness, marriage, vacation, or personal time and employees still receive regular wages during their absence from work in a certain period of time. Nowadays, in Polman Babel the paid leave system is still doing manually by filling out the paid leave application form provided by each work unit. After filling out the form, the relevant employees must submit the form to its each head of unit and then wait for confirmation for several days to find out the status of the submitted paid leave application. Every incoming paid leave application data is still not computerized well then it takes a long time to manage the data. To overcome this problem, researchers intend to develop a Website-Based Polmanbabel Paid Leave Submission System that can simplify and save time in making paid leave applications. To obtain data, researchers used observation techniques and interviews directly to related parties. System design is made using the waterfall method because it has a systematic and sequential approach. The stages of the waterfall method are requirements analysis, design, code and testing. The result of this research is a website-based paid leave application information system that can facilitate users in applying for paid leave, accepting or rejecting paid leave applications and viewing paid leave history that has been submitted by related workers before. System testing uses the black box testing method with the result that 100% of the system can run well and user acceptance testing with the result that 89.6% of users strongly agree with this system.

Abstract

Pests are animals that interfere with agricultural production such as wild boars, squirrels, rats, and insects. Several types of pests often attack rice plants, causing significant losses to farmers. Therefore researchers are interested in making bird repellent devices using a microcontroller. Microcontroller is a functional computer system on a chip. It contains a processor core, memory (a small amount of RAM, program memory, or both), and input-output equipment. This program is made based on the main controller, namely the Arduino Uno Microcontroller. The programming language used is the C + language. And the program created and saved in (uno) format. This is because the Arduino Uno used is part of the Arduino microcontroller which has its own compiler called the Arduino IDE. Then this file is compiled and then uploaded to the microcontroller using a USB cable so that the microcontroller can work as desired. The working principle of this tool is that when the PIR sensor reads the movement of living creatures (bird pests), the sensor sends commands to the servo motor by detecting the body's heat temperature detected by the PIR sensor, then the servo motor will move by rotating 30 degrees to left and right. When the PIR sensor has detected living creatures nearby, the LED light used will light up as a sign that the sensor detects the body temperature of living creatures.

Abstract

There are two types of waste, organic and inorganic waste. Organic waste can be used as compost with great potential to be developed, the high amount of wasted organic waste is not reused, which causes the waste to accumulate and will eventually be burned. This research is about designing an organic waste chopping machine. The engine specifications include a 6.5 HP gasoline engine, pulley and belt transmission, and overall engine measurements of 1918 mm in length, 639 mm in width, and 1046 mm in height. The dimensions of the blade are 160 mm long, 60 mm wide and 10 mm thick. The blade's cutting angle has a 30 degree slope. The chopping blade shaft rotates between 1694 and 1741 rpm. This study adjusts the input hopper's slope angle at 50 degree, 60 degree, and 70 degree depending on the machine's production capacity and productivity. There are machines that can produce 180 kg per hour to 449 kg per hour. The highest capacity occurs at the variation of the 50 degree input hopper slope reaching 449.55 kg/hour. The lowest capacity at the variation of the slope angle of 70 degree is 183.16 kg/hour. Machine production efficiency ranges from 89% to 93%.

Abstract

Coconut is a major crop in Indonesia. The coconut peeling process consists of several stages, namely the stripping of coir and coconut shells. These processes use manual tools, so it takes a long time and requires manpower. To overcome this problem, the authors design and analyze a coconut husk peeling machine in which the separation process does not mix with peeled coconut husk and is a safe machine to use. while working. This machine uses an automatic system so it does not require extra human labor. The Coconut Coir Peeler Machine is driven by an electric motor. An electric motor that rotates the blade shaft by transmitting power to the shaft through pulleys and belts so that the paring blade rotates. The engine capacity is 1.5 HP, the rotation speed is 1,400 rpm. The transmission system pulley is a drive pulley with a diameter (d1) = 4 inches and a driven pulley (d2) = 8 inches with a Type A Belt. The paring knife used is a flat triangular knife that is circularly arranged like a thread with 50 pieces. on the blade pipe, where the diameter of the blade pipe is 100 mm and the blade height is 40mm.

Abstract

Corn is one of the main sources of carbohydrates in Indonesia. Corn growth has reached all regions of the archipelago. As a source of carbohydrates other than rice, corn can also be processed into various food industry products such as snacks. In addition, corn can also be used as animal feed so the need for shelled corn is very high in Indonesia. Therefore we need an appropriate technology that functions to facilitate human work to produce shelled corn in a short time and high production yields. So Corn Seed Threshing Machine was designed with a capacity of 400 kg/hour. This machine consists of main components such as a cylinder shell, funnel, guide, and reservoir. This machine uses a 1.5 HP electric motor with a rotation of 1400 rpm and uses a Belt and Puli transmission system. The sheller shaft is added with a spiral-shaped sheller tooth.

Abstract

The beach is a comfortable place for traveling and relaxing. Therefore, the cleanliness of the beach area must be maintained for the sake of mutual comfort. Due to the lack of discipline of visitors, a lot of rubbish is piled up and piled up out of place every day. So, cleaning staff find it difficult to clean up rubbish manually. Therefore, an initial design stage is needed, then proceed with the creation of a semi-automatic beach cleaning machine or Beach Cleaning Machine to overcome this problem. In the future, cleaning the beach using this machine can speed up the cleaning process and make the work of beach cleaners easier. The working principle of this machine uses a gasoline motor as a driving source. So, when the motorbike is turned on, the machine will work automatically. Then to direct the movement of the machine an operator is needed. So, it is very appropriate to use a Beach Cleaning Machine to clean the beach compared to picking it up directly or using manual tools, because it can save work time.

Abstract

This design is based on the results of observations, literature studies and the development of previous pellet machines. Observations show that the horizontal pellet machine is less efficient in terms of time, because the horizontal pellet machine requires a composition of wet ingredients, wet material will produce wet pellets, so it still requires a long drying time so that the pellets are dry and ready to be packaged, the resulting product even horizontal pellet machine in terms of shape is less flat. To minimize this problem we made a vertical pellet machine, to make our energy efficient we added a mini conveyor so that the operator no longer spends a lot of energy. This vertical pellet machine is equipped with an electric motor powered by 1 HP or 746 watts, a gear box of 1: 60, a conveyor with a height of 165 cm, a mold plate of 3 mm - 10 mm, a hoper with a diameter of 60 cm and a roller with a diameter of 3 cm - 10 cm. So it can produce 120 kg/hour pellets.

Abstract

Bangka Belitung is one of the provinces with the largest pineapple production in Sumatra, but the pineapple leaves have not been processed and are still considered waste. Currently, the use of pineapple trees is only for the fruit. Even though pineapple leaves have very strong fiber and can be used as a composite of natural fibers. Composites reinforced with natural fibers have excellent corrosion resistance properties, as well as lower production costs, and are considered more environmentally friendly. The research objective was to obtain the highest tensile and impact testing values ??for volume fractions of 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35% with 5% NaOH alkaline treatment for 2 hours. Making samples using the hand lay-up method. The analysis was carried out using the direct experimental design method, in which the effect of the ratio of the volume fraction of the fiber after immersion in 5% NaOH for 2 hours on the tensile strength and impact strength would be seen. The result is the highest tensile strength of 52.6 MPa at 25% fiber volume fraction and a decrease in tensile strength at 30% and 35% volume fraction. The lowest tensile strength was at 35% volume fraction with a tensile test strength value of 24.7 Mpa, while the highest impact test results were 26.5 kj/m² at 30% volume fraction, while the lowest impact strength was 11 kj/m². This is because more and more distribution of fiber in the resin in each composite will strengthen the bond between the matrix and the fiber which causes the composite to be sturdy and not brittle, but if the fiber is above 30% it will result in a decrease in strength due to imperfect bonding of the resin and fiber. Vice versa, a few fibers will make the reinforcing bond unbalanced and tend to decrease its strength. For fiber test results above 20%, it can be used as a new composite material for making helmets according to SNI standards.

Abstract

The buildup of sugarcane bagasse fiber and coconut pulp fiber will cause rotting and an unpleasant odor, therefore it needs to be handled seriously. One of them is making natural fiber composites. The aim of the research was to obtain the highest tensile test value for a hybrid composite of coconut fiber and sugarcane fiber in the roots, stems and shoots with a volume fraction of 10% sugarcane fiber - 20% coconut fiber, 20% sugarcane fiber - 10% coconut fiber and sugarcane fiber. 15% - Coconut Fiber 15%, with 5% NaOH alkaline treatment for 2 hours. Samples were made using the hand lay-up method. The analysis was carried out using the direct experimental design method. The result was the highest tensile strength of 17.2 Mpa at a volume fraction of 10% Sugarcane Fiber - 20% Coconut Fiber and there was a decrease in tensile strength at a volume fraction of 20% Sugarcane Fiber - 10% Coconut Fiber. The lowest tensile strength is at a volume fraction of 20% Sugarcane Fiber - 10% Coconut Fiber with a tensile test strength value of 6.6 Mpa, meaning that the more fiber distribution in the resin in each composite will strengthen the bond between the matrix and fiber which causes the composite to be strong and not brittle. . In the micro photo, soaking in 5% NaOH for 2 hours was not able to clean the dirt or film attached to the coconut fiber, whereas in sugar cane fiber, soaking for 2 hours was able to clean the layer or dirt on the fiber. Dirt that sticks to it will affect the bond between the fiber and resin.
