Abstract

This study aims to describe the grammatical function of the Indonesian relative clauses found on the foreign students' academic degree program at Technical Manager Unit Language (UPTBahasa) University Sebelas Maret Surakarta. Data used in the form of writing, the sentences in the written essays of foreign students contained relative clauses. The techniques of data analysis use apportion method and advanced techniques of apportion method. The result of this study shows that the process of relativization that occurs in Indonesian can only relate the subject function. As the development of linguistics, the process of relativizationalso occurs in the object. Relativization on object will be accepted when it is altered through the passage process. In addition, the process of relativizationthat occurs can be through the steps, namely the obliteration strategy. The obliteration strategy serves to dissipate the nominative which relating its relative clauses. This research has concluded that the relativization process of relative clauses in Indonesian only occurs in the subject. Then, the most frequently used relativization in Indonesian is the obliteration strategy.Keywords: Indonesian for foreign speakers, grammatical functions, strategy obliteration, relative clausesFUNGSI GRAMATIKAL DALAM KLAUSA RELATIF BAHASA INDONESIA PADA KARANGAN MAHASISWA ASINGAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan tentang fungsi gramatikal klausa relatif bahasa Indonesia yang ditemukan pada karangan mahasiswa asing program darmasiswa level akademik di UPT Bahasa Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. Data yang digunakan berupa data tulis, yakni kalimat-kalimat dalam karangan mahasiswa asing yang didalamnya terdapat klausa relatif. Teknik analisis data menggunakan metode agih dan teknik lanjutan dari metode agih. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses perelatifan yang terjadi dalam bahasa Indonesia hanya dapat merelatifkan fungsi subjek. Seiring perkembangan ilmu kebahasaan, proses perelatifan terjadi juga pada objek. Perelatifan pada objek akan berterima apabila diubah melalui proses pemasifan. Selain itu, proses perelatifan yang terjadi dapat melalui langkah-langkah, yakni strategi obliteration. Strategi obliteration berfungsi untuk melesapkan nomina yang direlatifkan dalam klausa relatifnya. Penelitian ini memeroleh simpulan bahwa proses perelatifan klausa relatif dalam bahasa Indonesia hanya terjadi pada subjek. Kemudian, strategi perelatifan dalam bahasa Indonesia yang sering digunakan adalah strategi obliteration. Kata Kunci: bahasa Indonesia bagi penutur asing, fungsi gramatikal, strategi obliteration, klausa relatif

Abstract

This study aims to interpret the meaning of wayang kulit wanda of Panakawan figures. The wanda analyzed is wanda of wayang kulit based Surakarta model. The method of study was descriptive qualitative. The research object was the signs on wayang kulit wanda of Panakawan figures. This signs was examined its meaning by the employment of semiotic theories. Technique of data collection used interview and documentation. Data validity was triangulation of data source. Data from one source compared with other sources to test the validity of a data. The result of this research found that the meaning behind wayang kulit wanda of Panakawan figures. Those meaning are the reflection of wong cilik characteristic. Semar shows that wong cilik has religious character. Gareng describes that wong cilik has an honest and careful character. Petruk shows the character of wong cilik is hardworking. Wanda yang dikaji pada penelitian ini adalah wanda wayang kulit model Surakarta. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskripti kualitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah tanda pada wanda wayang kulit tokoh Panakawan. Tanda pada wanda tersebut dikaji maknanya menggunakan teori semiotik. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah teknik wawancara dan dokumentasi. Validasi data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah triangulasi sumber data. Data dari sumber satu dibandingkan dengan sumber yang lain untuk menguji validitas sebuah data. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah makna dibalik wanda wayang kulit tokoh Panakawan. Makna dari wanda tersebut merupakan cerminan dari karakteristik wong cilik. Semar menunjukkan bahwa wong cilik memiliki karakter religius. Gareng menggambarkan bahwa wong cilik memiliki karakter jujur dan berhati-hati. Petruk menunjukkan karakter wong cilik yang pekerja keras. Terakhir, yaitu Bagong menggambarkan karakteristik wong cilik yang lugu berkata apa adanya.Kata kunci: wanda, Panakawan, wayang kulit, wong cilik, semiotik

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to reveal and explain about the matters of Ronggeng performance as a traditional art in Muaro Kiawai village. As a traditional art, Ronggeng now is in endangered due to the declining number of its presentations. This study is qualitative, where data is collected by observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants were the actors who are involved in Ronggeng art, the ethnic group elites, and the society. The research instruments were the researcher, helped by recording instrument. The data was analyzed using Miles and Huberman model. The study finds that Ronggeng is formed by two type arts; dance and music. Ronggeng is marginalized by the society, because it does not adapt with the current changes and civilization. Therefore, most Ronggeng artists establish Senandung Rindu group in an effort to save Ronggeng from extinction. In the end, the effort contributes to the preservation and sustainability of the existence and activities of Ronggeng in Muaro Kiawai.

Abstract

This research purposed are to know social impact of foresty management done by HPH Company and influence to community around forest, conducted in Solok Selatan Regency, to know depended level of community to forest and nature resource as basic needs and specifying the target of change which wish to be reached and recommended the best approach for improving benefit of foresty management to community and also participated of community in the effort forest everlasting. This research use qualitatif method with observation, indepth interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Result of reseacrh show that the forest is very important for community as protected area from flood disaster and dryness and as wood source for cummunity. But, until now condition of forest felt having changes or degradation, especially felt from climate change side and quantity and quality water changes. There is a negative responce about HPH company existence, mostly happened because lack of socialization and communications among side. Effort of repair recommended are to develop more condusif relation between government, community with company, with interest many socialization and communications to find best solutions to the all problem. Abstract

Food is a basic biological need for humans to stay alive, and now food has beenlinked to culture. Not all types of food available in the environment are considered asfood. Patterns of eating habits ingrained from childhood will take effect later in olderage. This article explains the eating habits of the elderly people of Minangkabau whosuffer from hypertension. The result shows that the culture greatly affects the patterns ofeating habits of the elderly. The eating habit happens to be one of the factors causinghypertension. After suffering from hypertension, the elderly are also difficult to changeeating habits.Key words: eating habits, elderly, culture

Abstract

Historical novel translation requires an advanced competence of translator in relation with the translation quality: how accurate, clear, and readable the translator tries to deliver the writer’s original message to his/her translation version for the readers. The more accurate, clear, and readable the translator’s version is, the easier comprehension of the text will be. This paper was an outline of descriptive research which has been conducted to analyze the translation quality assessment in translating historical romance novel Taj: A Story of Mughal India into Taj: Tragedi Di Balik Tanda Cinta Abadi by Maria M. Lubis. There were three variables factors used; the two novels as objective factor, the translator as genetic factor, and the raters as affective factor to analyze, compare, rate, and score the translation quality. The sentences, clauses, phrases that consisted Indian cultural terms from the two novels were chosen as the data. From the analysis, it was found that the translation quality of this translated novel is accurate, high clear, and high readable obviously effected by an eligible translator who has high level competence and performance in translating the novel.Keywords: translation, historical romance novel, accuracy, clarity, and readability. KEAKURATAN, KEJELASAN, DAN KETERBACAAN DALAM PENERJEMAHAN NOVEL CINTA BERLATAR SEJARAHAbstractPenerjemahan novel berlatar sejarah membutuhkan penerjemah yang kompeten jika dilihat dari segi penilalian kualitas terjemahan seperti keakuratan, kejelasan, dan keterbacaan. Semakin akurat, jelas, dan terbaca suatu produk terjemahan, hasil terjemahan semakin akan mudah dipahami. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang mengidentifikasi dan menggambarkan penilaian kualitas penerjemahan. Seberapa akurat, jelas, dan terbaca novel terjemahan Taj: A Story of Mughal India menjadi Taj: Tragedi Di Balik Tanda Cinta Abadi oleh Maria M. Lubis. Ada tiga faktor variabel yang digunakan; kedua novel sebagai faktor objektif, penerjemah sebagai faktor genetik, dan tim penilai sebagai faktor afektif untuk menganalisis, membandingkan, menilai, dan memberi angka kualitas terjemahan. Kalimat, klausa, ungkapan-ungkapan yang terdiri dari istilah budaya India dari kedua novel dipilih sebagai data. Dari analisis tersebut, ditemukan bahwa kualitas terjemahan novel yang diterjemahkan ini akurat, sangat jelas, dan mudah dibaca, yang dipengaruhi oleh kepakaran dan kompetensi kinerja dalam menerjemahkan novel tersebut. Kata kunci: penerjemahan, novel cinta sejarah, keakuratan, kejelasan, dan keterbacaan.

Abstract

This study used a descriptive method with qualitative approach by studying the library, (library research), observation, and interviews, as well as using the theory of choreography. The research findings prove THAT seventeen works of Minor Dance students have met the elements of choreography as follows: (a) selecting a theme or idea of arrangements through the initial stimuli, ie stimulus ideas, kinesthetic, auditory and visual. (b) exploration and improvisation, (c) smoothing and composition. Elements of composition has also been described, which include: (1) the structure of arrangements; (2) dancers’ motion and passage; (3) the pattern of the floor; (4) music and lighting; (5) costumes and make-ups.The study also found that the students’ eleven dances have applied the concept of multiculturalism in ethnical and classical themes. Multiculturalism is understood as various ethnic diversity and distinctiveness, reflected in the work of each indibiduals that are limited by the historical and social context, as well as local culture, including ethnic Malay, Minangkabau, Javanese, Sabah and Sarawak, Kelantan, India, and China.Keywords: multiculturalism, dance as Minor Learning, and choreography

Abstract

WARISAN BUDAYA TAKBENDA UNGKAPAN TRADISIONAL MINANGKABAU: Kearifan Lokal Masyarakat tentang Tunjuk Ajar dan Nasihat-nasihat MuliaAbstractThis paper contains a discussion of oral tradition traditional expression of Minangkabau proverb within the framework of the research of oral literature and folklore. Traditional expressions are related to advise about wisdom and belief, while belief is closely linked to the traditions and customs. All of which are summarized in two main points, namely culture and ideology. The ways to convey the noble advice through traditional expression uttered by using parables and comparisons which the meaning conveyed figuratively (indirectly), is one of the local wisdoms in Minangkabau community in building character education. Parables and comparisons can be made by refering to the properties and characteristics of plants (flora), animal (fauna), or on human behavior. It is important to categorize the parables and comparisons contained in traditional expressions of the Minangkabau proverbs. The categorization is formulated based on the real categorization made by the owner of intagible cultural heritage, namely the Minangkabau society. Based on this categorization, it can be identified the local wisdom about how the Minangkabau people give advice to the society in developing the society integrity, social control, blending the shattered power for social solidarity, group identity, and maintaining communal harmony.Keyword: intagible cultural heritage, category, traditional expression proverb, Minangkabau society                                                       AbstrakMakalah ini berisi pembahasan tentang tradisi lisan ungkapan tradisional peribahasa Minangkabau dalam kerangka penelitian sastra lisan dan folklor. Ungkapan tradisional peribahasa  berkaitan dengan tunjuk ajar kearifan dan keyakinan, sedangkan keyakinan berhubungan erat dengan  tradisi dan kebiasaan. Kesemuanya itu terangkum pada dua hal pokok, yaitu kebudayaan dan ideologi. Cara menyampaikan tunjuk ajar nasihat-nasihat mulia melalui ungkapan tradisional yang diutarakan dengan menggunakan bahasa perumpamaan dan perbandingan yang maknanya disampaikan secara kias (tidak langsung), merupakan salah satu kearifan lokal masyarakat Minangkabau di dalam menanamkan pendidikan karakter. Perumpamaan dan perbandingan dapat dilakukan dengan merujuk pada sifat dan karakteristik tumbuh-tumbuhan (flora), hewan (fauna), atau pada perilaku manusia. Perumpamaan dan perbandingan yang terdapat di dalam ungkapan tradisional peribahasa Minangkabau penting dirumuskan pengkategoriannya. Pengkategorian dirumuskan berdasarkan pengkategorian yang sesungguhnya telah dilakukan oleh masyarakat pemilik warisan budaya tak benda ini, yaitu masyarakat Minangkabau. Berdasarkan pengkategorian ini sekaligus dapat diidentifikasi kearifan lokal tentang bagaimana masyarakat Minangkabau melakukan tunjuk ajar di dalam mengembangkan integritas masyarakat, melakukan kontrol sosial, memadukan kekuatan bersama yang terpecah untuk solidaritas sosial, identitas kelompok, dan menjaga harmonisasi komunalnya.Kata kunci: warisan budaya tak benda,  kategori, ungkapan tradisional peribahasa,   masyarakat Minangkabau

Abstract

This article reveals the condition of KNPI as an organization that accommodate all youth organizations in facing social change that occurred in Indonesia from the New Order Regime towards Reformation Order. The results of this study shows that during the New Order Regime, KNPI became an extension of the ruling party and this codition is still affecting KNPI in the reformation era although Indonesia has undergone a social change. Abstract

The objective of this research is to acquire deep understanding about Indigo through novel, Gerbang Dialog Danur’s novel by Risa Saraswati. Danur means of water that comes out from the rotten corpse. This qualitative research was conducted using content analysis method. This research was analyzed through structural literary approach and psychology literary approach. The data were collected through documents, and data observations about Indigo in Gerbang Dialog Danur’s novel by Risa Saraswati. The result of this research revealed that abundance of Indigo and lack of Indigo were founded and described in Gerbang Dialog Danur’s novel by Risa Saraswati. Those results lead to implication that Indonesian literature educator can use Gerbang Dialog Danur’s novel by Risa Saraswati directly in the teaching of literature studies, especially for psychology literary. The findings lead to recommendation to Indonesian literature educator, literature researcher, novel reader, parents, and everyone generally.Keyword: Indigo children, novel, literature, psychology, teaching of literature MEMAHAMI INDIGO MELALUI NOVELGERBANG DIALOG DANUR KARYA RISA SARASWATI: Kajian Psikologi SastraAbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh pemahaman mendalam tentang Indigo melalui novel, yakni novel Gerbang Dialog Danur karya Risa Saraswati. Danur berarti air yang keluar dari mayat yang busuk. Penelitian kualitatif ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi. Analisis penelitian dilakukan pendekatan psikologi sastra. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka, dan observasi data tentang Indigo dalam novel Gerbang Dialog Danur karya Risa Saraswati. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelebihan Indigo dan kekurangan Indigo ditemukan serta digambarkan dalam novel Gerbang Dialog Danur karya Risa Saraswati. Hasil penelitian ini dapat diimplikasikan oleh pengajar sastra Indonesia, yakni dengan menggunakan novel Gerbang Dialog Danur karya Risa Saraswati secara langsung pada proses pengajaran. Hasil penelitian ini direkomendasikan untuk para pengajar sastra Indonesia, pembaca novel, peneliti sastra, para orang tua, dan setiap orang pada umumnya.Kata kunci: anak Indigo, novel, sastra, psikologi, pengajaran sastra
