Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Al-Mahfuzat learning in improving students’ understanding of life values and Arabic language skills at Bismar Al-Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School. The research problem lies in students’ low understanding of Arabic grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation in Al-Mahfuzat learning. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model conducted in two cycles through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of Madrasah Diniyah at Bismar Al-Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and evaluation of students’ learning outcomes. The findings showed that the implementation of participatory and interactive learning strategies increased students’ engagement, motivation, self-confidence, and understanding of moral values and Arabic language skills. In addition, students demonstrated better participation during classroom discussions and learning activities. Although students still experienced difficulties in grammar and vocabulary mastery, contextual learning helped them understand the moral messages contained in Al-Mahfuzat more effectively. This study concludes that Al-Mahfuzat learning is effective in strengthening character education and supporting students’ Arabic language development, although continuous improvement in teaching strategies and vocabulary reinforcement remains necessary.

Abstract

Although the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has been widely researched, specific studies on AI in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at the junior high school level, particularly regarding opportunities, risks, and ethics, are still very limited. This study aims to analyze the use of AI in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at Darul Falah Al-Haqiqiyah Junior High School based on the experiences of teachers and students. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a field study design. The research informants consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and students who were selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results of the study generally indicate that AI has great potential to increase learning efficiency, expand access to learning resources, and support student independence. However, AI also carries significant risks such as instant dependency, bias in religious information, and the potential degradation of learning ethics if without teacher guidance. In conclusion, AI should be positioned proportionally as a tool, not a substitute for teacher figures or authoritative sources of Islamic law. The main contribution of this study is to provide an empirical and contextual overview of the dynamics of acceptance, real challenges, and ethical responses of teachers and students to AI in Islamic Religious Education classrooms. These results can serve as a foundation for education practitioners in understanding the digital reality in Islamic-based schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of tazkiyatun nafs through dhikr and shalawat from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali at the Sirajut Thalibin Islamic Boarding School. The background of this study is based on the importance of spiritual development in Islamic education as an effort to face the moral crisis and moral degradation of the young generation in the modern era. The concept of tazkiyatun nafs is seen as a process of purifying the soul that can form inner peace, self-control, and noble morals through the habituation of spiritual worship such as dhikr and shalawat. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study research type. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation of the boarding school leaders, ustaz, and students. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of tazkiyatun nafs at the Sirajut Thalibin Islamic Boarding School is carried out through routine dhikr activities, congregational recitation of shalawat, adab development, and teacher role models in daily life.  This practice has a positive impact on the formation of the religious character of students, such as increased discipline, peace of mind, humility, and spiritual closeness to Allah SWT. Imam Al-Ghazali's perspective on the purification of the soul through spiritual self-expression has proven relevant in the formation of the spirituality of students in modern Islamic boarding schools. This research contributes to the development of Sufism-based Islamic education as an approach to developing the character and spirituality of students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the extracurricular Tahfidz Juz 30 program in shaping the religious character of students at MTs TI Almadani. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through observation    the Tahfidz instructor and students as data sources. The results indicate that the extracurricular Tahfidz Juz 30 program is implemented on a weekly schedule and utilizes various learning methods, including wahdah, kitabah, sima'i, jama', talaqqi, tafsir, and tajwid. This program not only focuses on improving Quran memorization skills but also plays a role in shaping students' religious character through habituating Quran reading, enhancing discipline, responsibility, and adherence to religious practices. Program evaluation is conducted through tasmi' activities at the end of each semester to measure students' fluency, recitation accuracy, and memorization quality. Evaluation results indicate that the tahfidz program has a positive impact on students' Quran memorization abilities and the development of their religious character. Thus, the extracurricular tahfidz program for Juz 30 at MTs TI Almadani contributes to improving the quality of Quran memorization while supporting the development of students' religious character.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed various aspects of education, including Islamic Religious Education (IRE). However, studies integrating AI-based personalized learning, fiqh question-answering chatbots, and automated content generation within a single analytical framework remain limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the utilization of AI in personalized Islamic learning, the development of fiqh chatbots, and automated educational content creation, as well as to identify the opportunities and challenges of their implementation in Islamic Religious Education. This study employed a literature review method by examining relevant national and international journal articles, scholarly publications, and academic sources published between 2020 and 2025. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis through data reduction, categorization, synthesis, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that AI supports more adaptive and learner-centered education by enabling personalized learning experiences based on students’ needs and abilities. AI-powered fiqh chatbots improve access to Islamic knowledge through fast and interactive consultation services, while generative AI enhances teachers’ efficiency in developing instructional materials, learning media, and assessment instruments. Nevertheless, the implementation of AI also raises challenges related to the validity of Islamic sources, ethical considerations, data privacy, algorithmic bias, and excessive dependence on automated systems. In conclusion, AI has significant potential to improve the quality and effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education when implemented responsibly under teacher supervision and supported by credible Islamic references. This study contributes to the literature by providing a comprehensive synthesis of AI applications in personalized learning, fiqh chatbots, and automated content generation within the context of Islamic Religious Education, offering a holistic reference for future research and educational practice.

Abstract

This study examines the role of mathematics in fostering students’ critical, logical, and systematic thinking skills, with a particular focus on multiplication, a topic that many elementary students find difficult to understand. Initial observations in a Grade V classroom revealed that students’ learning outcomes in multiplication were unsatisfactory, as evidenced by a classical mastery level of only 50%. To address this problem, the study implemented the tally method, which provides a concrete and visual approach to learning multiplication through the use of intersecting lines representing multiplication factors. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design consisting of one cycle with four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were Grade V students at a Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, while data were collected through learning outcome tests, classroom observations, and documentation. A mixed-method approach was used to analyze the data. The findings demonstrated that the tally method effectively improved students’ understanding and achievement in multiplication. Following the implementation of the instructional intervention, the percentage of students achieving mastery increased from 50% to 75%. These results suggest that the tally method enhances conceptual understanding by enabling students to visualize multiplication processes more concretely, thereby improving their engagement and overall learning outcomes.
