Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efforts of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in implementing group-based learning approaches at SMP Muhammadiyah Pagar Alam, as well as to identify supporting and inhibiting factors and their impact on students’ learning engagement. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation involving PAI teachers, students, and school administrators. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that PAI teachers apply group learning through discussion groups, collaborative assignments, and small-group guidance. This approach positively influences students’ interaction, learning motivation, and understanding of religious material. However, challenges such as students’ diverse backgrounds, limited facilities, and varying motivation levels remain. The study concludes that group-based learning is effective in PAI instruction when supported by teacher creativity and institutional support.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine the role of family literacy in developing the reading skills of elementary school students. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by analyzing national and international studies published between 2015 and 2025. Literature sources were obtained from Google Scholar, DOAJ, Scopus, and the Garuda Portal databases using the keywords “family literacy,” “reading skills,” “parental involvement in reading,” and “elementary school students.” The findings indicate that family literacy has a significant impact on improving several aspects of children’s reading skills, including reading interest, motivation, comprehension, and fluency. The most effective forms of family involvement include shared reading activities, establishing daily reading routines at home, providing reading materials, and offering emotional support for children. However, the effectiveness of family literacy is influenced by supporting factors such as parental knowledge, available time, and school support, while it is often hindered by economic constraints and limited access to reading materials. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of collaboration among families, schools, and the government to strengthen sustainable home-based literacy ecosystems as an integral part of national literacy policies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers and cultural literacy in the formation of tolerance attitudes among elementary school students using a qualitative method with a Literature Review approach. The literature used was obtained from reputable databases such as Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar with a publication range from 2020 to 2025. The findings show that teachers play a key role as role models and facilitators in instilling human values through reflective, empathetic, and collaborative learning. Cultural literacy contributes to increasing empathy, social awareness, and respect for diversity among students. The integration of both creates a harmonious and inclusive school climate, supporting the formation of strong social character. However, most of the research remains descriptive and has not examined causal relationships or the long-term impact of cultural literacy implementation. Therefore, further research is needed to develop an integrated digital cultural literacy model and the role of teachers as a contextual learning strategy that adapts to the Merdeka Curriculum, in order to strengthen humanistic and sustainable character education.

Abstract

The educational paradigm has been profoundly transformed by technological advancement, including Islamic education. One of the greatest challenges is how to adapt learning media to align with technological progress while preserving the moral values that form the foundation of Islamic education. The purpose of this study is to develop ideas for learning media based on the values of the Qur’an and Hadith that can integrate the moral, spiritual, and cognitive elements of students. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research focuses on the values and concepts derived from the Qur’an and Hadith, as well as their relationship to the design of contemporary learning media. Data were collected through literature review and relevant journal research. The results of the study show that Islamic educational values such as knowledge (Iqra’), compassion (Rahmah), patience (Sabr), the exemplary behavior of the Prophet Muhammad (Uswah Hasanah), and effective communication have a significant influence on shaping Islamic-based learning media. The stages of media development—including needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation — systematically ensure the integration between academic information and religious principles. To make learning not only informative but also transformative, media design must integrate cognitive and spiritual values. Comprehensive Islamic education aims to enlighten the mind and nurture noble character by balancing intellectual and moral aspects. Therefore, the development of learning media based on the values of the Qur’an and Hadith is expected to become an innovative solution for contemporary Islamic education. It will harmonize technological progress with spirituality, making learning a means of attaining blessings and devotion to Allah SWT.

Abstract

The Ministry of Education and Culture recently launched a new approach to teaching and learning activities, namely the Deep Learning Approach. Mindful, Meaningful, and Joyful are the three main principles in the Deep Learning approach. This study aims to analyze various learning strategies and media relevant to the implementation of the Deep Learning approach in educational environments. The type of research used is library research, namely research conducted by reviewing various literature sources such as books, scientific journal articles, proceedings, and previous research results related to strategies, learning media, and the application of Deep Learning. Data were collected through document studies of relevant literature sources, then analyzed using content analysis methods to identify concepts, patterns, and relationships between strategies and learning media in supporting Deep Learning. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Deep Learning requires learning strategies that are student-centered, collaborative, reflective, and problem-solving based, such as project-based learning, problem-based learning, inquiry learning, collaborative learning, and flipped classroom. Meanwhile, effective learning media to support this approach include interactive digital media, online learning platforms, and visual and audiovisual-based media that can stimulate students' cognitive and affective engagement. The conclusion of this study confirms that the successful implementation of Deep Learning depends heavily on the selection of appropriate, contextual learning strategies and media that encourage students to think critically, creatively, and independently.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of inclusive education as a social justice strategy at SD IT Alam Talago. Inclusive education is seen as an important approach in ensuring the rights of every student to receive equal educational services without discrimination, especially for students with diverse learning needs. The main problem in this study relates to how the school applies the principles of inclusivity in learning and the challenges faced in its implementation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants consisted of class teachers, assistant teachers, and the principal who were selected purposively. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that SD IT Alam Talago has implemented inclusive education through adaptation of learning methods, task differentiation, the use of varied media, and the provision of special assistance for students in need. In addition, the school has built a positive culture that emphasizes acceptance of diversity, collaboration between teachers, and parental involvement. However, obstacles still encountered are limited supporting facilities and differences in teacher competency in handling special needs. Overall, inclusive education at SD IT Alam Talago has been effective as a social justice strategy in creating a fair, friendly, and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic religious education and science from the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith. The separation between these two fields of knowledge has led to an epistemological crisis that has weakened the spiritual dimension amidst modern technological advances. Using a library research approach and content analysis, this study explores the philosophical, theological, and practical foundations of this integration effort. The findings indicate that the Qur'an and Hadith consistently encourage humans to think critically, observe the universe, and connect empirical phenomena with the values ​​of monotheism. Therefore, the integration of religious education and science is imperative to realize a learning system that harmonizes intellectual and spiritual intelligence. The results of this study emphasize the urgency of developing a monotheism-based Islamic science curriculum as a response to the moral, ethical, and technological challenges of the contemporary era.

Abstract

Religious education (Salaf) and modern science are two contrasting elements that generate graduates who are either religiously competent yet retrograde in terms of technology, or the reverse. Conversely, this research aims to explore and examine the application of the multidisciplinary approach at Pondok Pesantren Modern Al-Rifa’ie 3 Malang, specifically how the creating body manages its continuity within traditional frameworks, known as "Kitab Kuning," and how it incorporates modern subject matter into its methodology and approach. Applying the research method as a case analysis, the researcher shall gather information through in-depth interviews and observation. The research reveals that the concept of "multidisciplinary" at Al-Rifa’ie 3 is implemented within a Dual-Track System (Separated Curriculum) framework. Originally, the system at Al-Rifaie 3 applied an entirely integrated approach (including the system), which unfortunately had been ceased due to time and human resources issues. Recently, the approach has been functionally and partially integrated via the Bahtsul Masail Institute (LBM) and specialized extracurricular activities (Jam'iyyah) and not through classroom teaching. Besides, several challenges are also ascertainable, among which are the pragmatism among parents who place greater emphasis on recognized diplomas than religious capability, and lack of time management among the graduates. Based on these concerns and research findings, this research concludes that the modernization at Al-Rifaie 3 is that of its management and teaching approach and is far from diminishing the elements at its Salaf and is nothing more than an approach that is very realistic and feasible and serves as an effective strategy that produces more competitive graduates who are well-attuned in science and technology yet very loyal and proud of its strong adherence and identity as an Islamist movement.

Abstract

This study explores the challenges and opportunities in teaching moderate Islamic ‎education at Mambaus Sholihin Islamic Boarding School, Suci Manyar Gresik. Using a ‎qualitative descriptive approach with field research and the Miles and Huberman ‎interactive analysis model, data were gathered through observation, interviews, and ‎documentation. The results reveal three main challenges: students’ literal understanding ‎of religious texts, the influence of social media on their religious views, and teachers’ ‎difficulty in internalizing moderate values. However, the study also identifies promising ‎opportunities, such as integrating moderation values into the Islamic curriculum, ‎combining salaf and khalaf educational methods to strengthen moderation, and ‎enhancing community engagement and da'wah activities aligned with the principles of ‎rahmatan lil ‘alamin.
