Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the population abundance, species and habitat of semah fish in Napal Licin River, Merangin District, Jambi Province. This study was conducted in March 2019. Data collection was carried out using the Purposive Random Sampling method in four deliberately determined stations, there are Pulau Kemang, Beringin Sanggul, Bukit Punjung and Sakai. These stations are villages that located in the Napal Licin watershed. The fishs sample were caught using nets, then it were identified in the laboratory. Observation of the semah fish habitat was carried out directly. Water quality parameters ware measured in the site and laboratory. The results showed that population abundance of semah fish at the Napal Licin river was very low, the abundance in the station 1 was 0.03 ind /m2, station 3 was 0.06 ind /m2, whereas at stations 2 and 4 the abundance were 0, 00 ind/m2 because there are no semah fish found. The frequency of attendance category of semah fish at the Napal Licin river was very rare, at station 1 the frequency of attendance was 5.5%, station 3 was 11.1% while in station 2 and 4 the frequency of attendance were 0%. The Semah fish species that obtained only 1 species, Tor Tambroides. The degradation of semah fish habitat at the Napal Licin River was mainly caused by the illegal gold mining activities.

Abstract

Research about exploration of potential flora as an ornamental plant in the Talalang Jaya Waterfall area is another aspect of forest product utilization. The forest plant has the potential as an ornamental plant is currently in great demand by the community. In addition to decorating homes or garden filler elements, ornamental plants have developed as export commodities. Exploration activities are proclaiming one of the first steps in the efforts of the conservative tumbling which began to be threatened by the great auction of building auctioneers and the development of industrial plants. This research is descriptive explorative with the roaming method represented randomly. Exploration of potential plants of seamless tanks in the area of Talalang Jaya Waterfall is obtained as many as 14 types, namely: Sonerila oblique, Sonerila pulchella, Begonia sp, Dracaena surculosa, Macodes petola, Agrostophyllum sp, Spathoglottis sp, Costus speciosa sp, Amomum apiculatum, Aglaonema, Alocasia sp, Scindapsus sp, Homalonema sp, dan Dendrobium.

Abstract

Mentha spicata is an herbal plant producing spearmint oil commonly used in the herbal medicine industry, soap, toothpaste and cosmetics. The main place for producing spearmint oil is leaves. To improve the quality of leaves can be achieved by increasing the size of leaf cells through the polyploidization technique with natural mutagen that is ethanolic extract of Tapak dara leaf. This research is an experimental research with Completely Randomized Design with ethanolic extract concentration of 0,1% with application frequency which were 2 drop per day for a day, 2 drop per day for 2 days, and 2 drop per day for 3 days. The observed parameters were number of shoot, number of leaf, stem diameter, leaf area and stem height. Based on the observations, application of ethanolic extract concentration of 0,1% with application frequency 2 drop for a day and 2 drop for 2 days against real controls on the number of root and leaf area parameter. In addition, T-test showed significantly differnt result from the control on stem diameters with ethanolic extract concentration of 0,1%, application frequency 2 drop for 2 days.

Abstract

Food is important both for growth and maintaining life vegetables have nutritional advantages because they are consumed in a raw state so that the nutrients contained in them do not experience denaturation or change. But the benefits of vegetables will not be useful if the vegetables contain E. coli bacteria that enter the digestive tract. The study is a laboratory descriptive experimental research. The study was conducted at a street , treders pecel lele found on Bangko City's Sumatra Cross Road. The number of samples in this study were 13 street treders selling pecel lele. Sample examination was carried out in the STKIP YPM Bangko Biology Education Laboratory. Data were analyzed by univariate. From the results of the study found two positive E. coli cabbage and positive Coliform in all samples of cabbage / cabbage.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of research on the siamang in hutan Adat Guguk of Merangin Regency, Jambi Province. The purpose of study was to determine and describe the siamang population based on the size of the group, the composition of age and sexual rasio in the forest of Adat Guguk Merangin Regency, Jambi Province. The method used is a concentreated area method with three observation stations and used the Rappid Assesment to record food and rest vegetation of siamang. Data was analyzed descriptively. The result showed that the siamang group found in the study area were 2 groups (5 individuals ) and 1 solitary male. The distribution of age classes in the individual adult phase is 5 individuals the sapling phase was 1 individual and the baby phase werw not found in the siamang group in the hutan Adat Guguk. The seksual ratio value of the siamang group in the adult phase is 1:1, for the solitary male the sexual ratio is 1:0 and ato the juvenile phase could not identyfied the sex of simang because the sexual chaarteristic of had not developed perfectly.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity of ants in Hutan Adat Guguk. Research type applied is descriptive quantitative research. This study was conducted on April 2018, in two stages. The first stages is sampling which is done in the Hutan Adat Guguk by making four plots. The second stage is identification of ants carried out by purposive sampling technique, which is by considering the type of vegetation and altitude. The method used is bait trap, pitfall trap, and hand collecting. Collected samples were analyzed with Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H`), index of richeness (DMg), and evennes index (E). The result showed the ants with 2633 individuals were clasified in to 22 species, consisting of 7 genera and 3 subfamilies. The result of data analysis showed the value of the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H`) is 2,21 (medium criteria), index of richeness (DMg) is 17,05 (high criteria), and evennes index (E) is 0,41 (stable criteria).

Abstract

The water quality of Sungai Batang Merangin can be monitored through physical, chemical and biological parameters. Water quality research was conducted with temperature research parameters, TSS, PH, DO, COD, metal (Pb, Cd and Hg) and plankton. Water samples were taken in July and August 2017. The result of measurement of water quality parameter of Batang Merangin river was obtained by temperature data of 26-29,5 ° C, maximum TSS 474 mg / L, maximum pH 7, DO maximum of 7.6 mg / L, maximum COD 61.2 mg / l, cadmium metal (Cd) maximum 0.031 mg / l, metal timbale (Pb) averaging <0.02 mg / l, mercury (Hg) averaged <0.001 mg / l, plankton abundance ranged from 31.2-123.2 ind / L, plankton diversity ranged from 0.204-0.672, plankton uniformity between 0.294-0.423, plankton dominance ranged between 0,226-0,706. All physical, chemical and biological parameters are still below the maximum level except for Cadmium metal value at one point according to PP 82 of 2001 and the index value of Diversity is categorized as heavily polluted according to Shannon-Wieners index.

Abstract

Based on observations made by researchers found that learning in class VIII SMPN 10 Merangin there are students who pay less attention to the material delivered by the teacher, disturbing friends and busy talking with the theme, learning also feels monotonous because teachers still use the lecture method in the teaching and learning process. This has an impact on the results of the Integrated Science test in the last semester and the average of all classes does not reach the Minimum Mastery Criteria value of 75, therefore through this study the researcher wants to know the effect of the Cooperative Script learning model on students' Integrated Science learning outcomes class VIII SMPN 10 Merangin on straight motion material. In this study, researchers used experimental quantitative research because researchers wanted to find out the effect of Cooperative Script learning models on the learning outcomes of Integrated Science students in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 10 Merangin. The population in this study were all students of class VIII of SMPN 10 Merangin consisting of seven classes, from classes VIII A, VIII B, VIII C, VIII D, VIII E, VIII F, and VIII G, totaling 208 students. In determining the sample, the researcher first tests the normality and homogeneity tests of the population. Then from the population data obtained 21 combinations, then the draw was made so that a pair of combinations was chosen, namely DG which means class VIII D as the control class and class VIIIG as the experimental class. Data collection techniques are done using tests. To analyze the test items, researchers used validity tests, distinguishing features, difficulty indexes, and reliability tests. Based on the analysis of this data obtained from the t test where sig of 0.63 where> 0.05. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Cooperative Script learning model on the Integrated Science learning outcomes of Grade VIII students of SMPN 10 Merangin.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of Biology students of class X SMA Negeri 7 Merangin in teaching and learning activities of students less active in the learning process, the learning strategies used by teachers are still less variable. The purpose of the study was to improve Biology Learning Outcomes of students of Class X sMA Negeri 7 Merangin 2019/2020 Learning Year on Biodiversity material by Application of Inquiry Learning Model using Index Card Match (ICM). The design of this research is Research Classroom action (PTK) carried out in class X SMA Negeri 7 in the 2019/2020 Academic Year with a total of 17 students consisting of 8 male students 9 female students. Data were collected using written test techniques and observation of students during the process learning takes place. The results of this study are found that the results of Biology learning in Grade X students of State 7 in the year of 2019/2020 Learning Year increased. The increase can be seen from the acquisition of the average value of learning outcomes with a percentage of 65% cycle I and increasing in cycle II with a percentage of 82% thus it can be concluded that the application of the Inquiry Learning model using Index Card Match (ICM) can improve learning outcomes Biology Students of class X SMA Negeri 7 celebrate 2019/2020 Academic Year.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know the variety kinds of ants in Palm Oil Garden Area. The kinds of this research was descriptive research by qualitative approach. This research was conducted on June 2019 in three steps. The first step was collecting the sample in Palm Oil Garden Area of STKIP YPM. The collecting of ants samples weredone by line transect technique, that are by using pitfall trap, hand collecting, and bait trap. The second step was ants identification that was done in Biology Laboratorium of STKIP YPM by following Identification Guide to the Ant Genera of the World (Bolton, 1994) and it was matched woth the determination key. The last step is the data analysis. The collected samples were analyzed by Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’), index of richeness (DMg), and Evennes index (E). The result showed the ants with 1630 individuals were classified in to consisting of 10 genera and 4 subfamilies. The result of data analysis showed the value of the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’) is 1,8032 (medium criteria), index of richeness (DMg) is 1,2168 (low criteria), and Evennes index (E) is 0,3642 (stabil criteria)
