Abstract

Reverse Osmosis water is a major component in the hemodialysis process, acting as a solvent for dialysate fluid. The microbiological quality of Reverse Osmosis water significantly impacts patient safety, particularly with regard to endotoxin contamination originating from the cell walls of Gram-negative bacteria. This 2025 study aimed to analyze the relationship between total plate count (ALT) and endotoxin levels in Reverse Osmosis water in the hemodialysis unit of Hospital X, Mojokerto City. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were obtained from a single location, namely water produced by the Reverse Osmosis machine that was ready to be flowed into the hemodialysis machine. Sampling was carried out 20 times, 10 samples of Total Plate Count and 10 samples of Endotoxin for five consecutive days at two different times each day, namely the morning shift (around 08.00–10.00) and the afternoon shift (around 13.00–15.00). ALT was examined using the pour plate method, and endotoxin levels were measured with the Nexgen device using the chromogenic LAL method. Based on the Spearman test results, a correlation coefficient (r) value of -0.518 was obtained with a significance value (p) of 0.125 (p > 0.05), which indicates that there is a moderate negative relationship between ALT and endotoxin levels, but this relationship is not statistically significant at the 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). Therefore, in this study, changes in the Total Plate Count (ALT) did not affect the amount of endotoxin.

Abstract

Nutritional status adolescents is an important indicator in supporting optimal health and growth. Nutritional status is influenced by various factors, including macronutrient intake and screen time. This study aims to determine the relationship between macronutrient intake and screen time with the nutritional status of adolescents at SMAN 1 Krian. The method used in this study was quantitative, with a cross-sectional design, conducted in July-August 2024 with a sample of 103 participants. Data were obtained through 2x24-hour food recall questionnaire interviews and screen time questionnaires, as well as height and weight measurements.. The data analysis technique used was the Pearson Correlation Test. This study showed that 96.1% of adolescents had low carbohydrate intake, 51.5% low protein intake, 64.1% low fat intake, 68% high screen time duration, and 66% normal nutritional status. It was concluded that macronutrient intake (p<0.05) and screen time (p= 0.000; r=0.624) correlated with nutritional status in adolescents at SMAN 1 Krian. Therefore, food intake and screen time duration in adolescents need to be considered to achieve optimal nutritional status.

Abstract

Maternal nutritional status before and during pregnancy is very important for fetal growth. If the mother's nutrition is good during pregnancy, it is likely that the baby will be born healthy. Lack of nutritional intake, such as Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), can have a negative impact on the health of the mother and fetus. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to nutrition from the beginning of pregnancy until the beginning of the baby's life. Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women can cause risks and complications for the mother, including: the mother not gaining weight normally, anemia, bleeding, and contracting infectious diseases. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that the prevalence of CED in pregnancy globally is 35% -75%. WHO also notes that 40% of maternal deaths in developing countries are related to KEK. Based on 2018 Riskesdas data, West Sulawesi Province has a prevalence of CED in pregnant women of 17.53%. The three districts with the highest percentage of KEK are Central Mamuju District (41.33%), Mamasa District (31.84%), and Polewali Mandar District (25.8%). This study employs a descriptive methodology with questionnaire-based data gathering procedures to pregnant women in the Massenga Community Health Center working area. The aim is to identify and describe the level of knowledge of pregnant women about CED. Data was examined using factors like age, education, employment, and mother's parity. Research shows that the level of knowledge of pregnant women about CED varies. The majority of respondents had good knowledge (70.0%), sufficient knowledge (23.3%), some still had low knowledge (6.7%). Factors that influence pregnant women's knowledge about KEK include education level and employment. Higher education and certain occupations tend to increase mothers' knowledge of SEZs.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are common occupational health problems experienced by healthcare workers, particularly nurses, due to manual patient handling activities involving high biomechanical loads. These conditions may lead to musculoskeletal pain, decreased productivity, work absenteeism, and increased healthcare costs. This literature review aimed to analyze the effectiveness of manual patient handling assistive devices in reducing the risk of MSDs and to examine the concept of cost-benefit analysis in workplace ergonomic implementation. Literature searches were conducted through PubMed and Google Scholar using the keywords “Manual Patient Handling,” “MSDs,” and “Cost Benefit Analysis.” The selected articles were relevant scientific publications from the last ten years. The findings showed that the use of assistive devices such as exoskeletons, robotic transfer systems, air-assisted devices, wearable lift-assist vests, and patient-handling technology could reduce biomechanical loads, excessive muscle activity, and the risk of MSDs among healthcare workers. In addition to improving occupational safety and comfort, these devices also have the potential to enhance service efficiency. However, their implementation still faces challenges, including high procurement costs, training requirements, and limited healthcare facilities. Cost-benefit analysis is an important approach for assessing the feasibility of ergonomic implementation in supporting occupational safety and healthcare worker productivity. Keywords: Manual Patient Handling, Musculoskeletal Disorders, ergonomics, healthcare workers, cost-benefit analysis.

Abstract

Welding is an industrial activity with a risk of exposure to hexavalent chromium (CrVI). Chromium levels are monitored through urine because the kidneys are the main route of excretion, so urine levels reflect the body's exposure levels. Specimens were collected through spontaneous urination in the morning using the midstream method. This study aimed to determine the relationship between work duration and urinary chromium levels in welding workshop workers. The study was conducted in seven welding workshops in four subdistricts in the Special Region of Yogyakarta using a cross-sectional design with an observational analytical approach. A total of 18 workers met the criteria as respondents. Morning urine samples were analyzed using graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry (GF-AAS) because the concentration is more concentrated and able to describe chromium accumulation. The analysis was performed descriptively and with Pearson's correlation test. The results showed no significant relationship between length of service and urinary chromium levels (p=0.078), although a moderate positive correlation was observed (r=0.427). The study concluded that length of service was not significantly related to urinary chromium levels. Further studies involving larger samples and considering confounding variables are recommended.

Abstract

The digital transformation of health services through the Mobile Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN) application aims to improve administrative efficiency, reduce waiting times, and enhance patient satisfaction. However, its implementation in regional hospitals still faces challenges related to system integration, infrastructure readiness, and users’ digital literacy. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Mobile JKN usage in outpatient services at RSUD Hajjah Andi Depu, Polewali Mandar Regency. A qualitative case study design was employed using the Donabedian framework (structure–process–outcome). Data were collected through non-participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document review. The results indicated that Mobile JKN improved administrative efficiency and queue management for online users, yet the average waiting time remained above service standards due to unsynchronized online and manual queues, network instability, and limited digital literacy among some patients. In conclusion, Mobile JKN has the potential to enhance outpatient service effectiveness when supported by system integration, stable network infrastructure, clear service standard operating procedures, and digital literacy education.
