The era of globalization and competition requires the improvement and development of quality human resources. Competition era of globalization has been met by a wide range of advanced technologies. It is necessary to find an alternative learning which can improve learning activities and provide opportunities for learners to be more creative. One method of learning that can be done is the adoption of the Open-Ended Approach with Microsoft Excel program. The focus of this study was to determine the improvement in mathematical creative thinking abilities of learners towards learning mathematics. The population in this study were all students of class XI SMU 1 Tasikmalaya, and the samples were taken randomly from the entire classes. Two classes were selected as experimental class and control class. The instrument used consisted of testing the ability of creative thinking and mathematical model attitude Likert scale. The instrument used has been valid and reliable. The data has been analysed using the normalized gain test and statistical test such as t-test ‘and the Mann-Whitney test. The result has been shown the improvement of the ability to think creatively of mathematical learners by the Open-Ended approach Microsoft Excel program is better than learners by the Open-Ended approach without the assistance of Microsoft Excel Program. The attitude of learners towards learning with the Open-Ended approach with Microsoft Excel program is positive.

This research was conducted to provide an alternative learning model which can improve the ability of students ‘ reasoning. By giving the opportunity to students to be more active in the learning process, Problem Based Learning model was one of the alternatives to improve students ‘ reasoning in calculus III course. This research was quasi experimental research at the Siliwangi University Tasikmalaya to answer the main hypothesis: Problem Based Learning can improve the ability of students mathematical reasoning. The instruments used in this study consisted of mathematical reasoning tests in Calculus III. Research samples were taken randomly i.e. one experimental class and one control class. The data were processed by using the normalited gain test, t-test percentage presentation after all the requirenment of the test were met. The results of the analysis shows that there was a difference.

This research aims to know the improvement of students’s mathematical representastion skill Bette beetwen using PBL Model helped geogebra software media and using PBL model without helped geogebra software media.The method is experiment method. The population were all of the tenth grade mathematic and nature students of Senior High School 1 Tasikmalaya using 2013 Curiculum with scientific approach. The sample of this research was randomly selected, two classes of the population, X MIA 4 as experiment class and X MIA 5 as control class. The result of this research is (1) the improvement of the students’s mathematical representation skill using PBL model helped by geogebra software media is not better than or equal with those using PBL model without helped by geogebra software media; and (2) the students’ motivation of study during following lesson using PBL model helped geogebra software media were in medium criteria.

This study aims to determine the enhancement in the ability of mathematical critical thinking of students treated by Constructivism Learning Approach and direct learning, to know the difference enhancement in the ability of mathematical critical thinking of students in upper, middle and lower group treated by Constructivism Learning Approach and direct learning. This is an experimental study. The population are students of SMK Bina Putera Nusantara (BPN) Department of Pharmacy Class XI and were chosen two classes randomly, Class Pharmacy III (F-III) and Pharmacy IV (F-IV). The experiment class was treated using constructivism learning approach, and the control class was treated using direct learning. The instruments used in this study were test of the ability of mathematical critical thinking and observation sheet. Data analysis used were t test and two-way ANOVA also Contingency Coefficient. Based on the results analysis, it shows that the enhancement in the ability of mathematical critical thinking of students through constructivism learning approach is better than the enhancement in the ability of mathematical critical thinking of students through direct learning. There is different enhancement in the ability of mathematical critical thinking between upper, middle and lower group.

This study was aimed at determing the effect of the use of Student Facilitator and Explaining type of cooperative learning model on students’ mathematical problem-solving. This study was an experiment, with the population of vocational school students in the city of Tasikmalaya. Sampling used was a random sampling, and it was selected two classes of grade X. The experimental group was treated by apllying cooperative learning model with Student Facilitator and Explaining method whereas the control class was direct instruction. Instruments used were test to assess mathematical problem solving abilities. The result of the study has been found that students’ mathematical problem solving abilities who participated by cooperative learning model with Student Facilitator and Explaining method are better than of the group of students who participated in direct instruction. There were differences in the problem solving abilities of the top, middle, and lower groups of students who participated by the model of cooperative learning with Student Facilitator and Explaining methods.

This research is an experimental study with a quantitative approach to analyse of the students reasoning ability through the application of cooperative learning model TPS. The population in this study were all students of islamic junior high schools (MTs) at the intermediate level of the 2012/2013 academic years in Tasikmalaya. The sample of this study were all students of MTs Nurul Falah taken randomly, and class VIII-B was chosen consisted of 35 students as experimental class and class VIII-C as control class. The instrument used in this study was included the ability of mathematical reasoning test. The analysis of the data used two different average test and ANOVA test using two lines of General Linear Model Univariate Analysis. Based on the results of this study, it has been found that (1) The improvement of reasoning ability and problem-solving ability of students who learned mathematic using cooperative model is better than those who learn mathematic using conventional model, (2) there are improvement differencies of reasoning ability and mathematical problem solving between the students who learn mathematic using cooperative learning model TPS type and students who learn mathematic using conventional model in terms of high-level capabilities, medium, and low, and (3) there is an interaction between learning and mathematical prior knowledge of students group (high, medium, low) in reasoning ability.

This research was aimed at analyzing the enhancement of students’ ability in mathematical problem solving through realistic mathematics education instruction, and at describing their attitude during realistic mathematic education instruction. The population is all junior high school students in Garut region. The experimental design used in this research was two-group design with pretest-posttest. The samples were the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Cilawu taken randomily and consisted of two classes (the grade of VII A and grade VII C) for the experimental group who participated in intruction with realistic mathematics education and other two classes (the grade of VII B and grade VII D) for the control group who participated in the direct instruction. Data collection tecniques used were Test and Questionnaires. The statistical analysis used was gain score for the test results of mathematical problem solving ability. The analysis results, showed that the enhancement of students’ mathematical problem solving ability who participated in intruction with realistic mathematics education was better than those who participated the direct instruction. Realistic mathematics education instruction has also given opportunities for students to have positive attitudes toward mathematics.

The background of the reaseach is difficulty student to understanding about multiplication and division at whole number and the use of instructional media that matches the stage of development for elementary school student. Therefore selected math comic in learning multiplication and division of whole numbers for elementary school students, because comics are mostly readed by elementary school students. Thus the formulation of the problem is how comics can be used as a media of learning mathematics, and how it affects the understanding of multiplication and division concept in whole numbers to elementary school students. General research purpose was to describe the mathematical model of the comic can be used as media of mathematics learning, and knowing its impact on understanding of multiplication and division concept in whole numbers to elementary school students. The research is quasi experimental design type Nonequivalent Control Group with purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and tests. To analyze quantitative data, researcher use Microsoft Excel 2010 and SPSS 16.0. The result show that math comic media give positive influence in the understanding of multiplication and division concept in whole numbers other than conventional learning.

This study aims to describe generally about the effects of using Trimino Mathematical Model of Cooperative Learning on the results of mathematics, especially for the first grade students of SDN Tarai Bangun. The method used is to analyze and interpret experiments clearly about the conditions that exist in the field. The data collection techniques used were direct observation of the experiment as the subject of research. The results of this study can be concluded that learning through trimino mathematical model cause differences improvement of students’ mathematics learning outcomes significantly between the experimental class and control class. The attitude of the students based on the scale of attitudes about learning initiative, set a goal of learning, motivation, behavior (self), find and utilize relevant learning resources, evaluate the process and outcomes of learning. This is indicated positively by the opinion of students towards learning mathematics using mathematical trimino media.

This research focused on the implementation of Cooperative Learning type, Two Stay Two Stray. The aims of study were to determine the better gain of students’ Mathematical Connections and Communications treated by Cooperative Learning Model type Two Stay Two Stray and direct learning model, also at which level of students’ Mathematical ability the model become effective? The populations in this study were all bachelors’ degree of Mathematics Department in academic year 2013-2014, and then two of five classes were taken as the sample of research. The instrument used in this study includes the test of Mathematical Connection and Communication. Analysis of data used two different test averages and One Way Anova with Scheffe test. The result of the study has been found that the improvement of Mathematical Connection and Communication of students who obtained Cooperative Learning Model type Two Stay Two Stray is better than Direct Learning Model. The improvement of Mathematical Communication and Connections in high group of students was better than medium and low group.
