Abstract

The human development index in 2020 get slowdown in growth of 0.04%. The problem becaused per capita expenditure has decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this research is to implementation of a classification method used in the classification of the human development index in North Sumatra Province in 2020 and find out the accuracy value obtained. In implementation of support vector machine method with the Radial Basic Function (RBF) kernel function got the accuracy value is enough good at 79.31% with parametersC=1. The human development index in 2020 get slowdown in growth of 0.04%. Abstract

Forecasting is a study that is still interesting today. With the forecasting method, a person can make predictions about something based on previously available data. In this study, will be carried out on the prediction of the number of airplane passengers on domestic during the COVID-19 period. The data taken is data on domestic airplane passengers at Minangkabau International Airport Padang city. Data by month for the period 2016 to 2020. The method that will be applied to the data is the exponential smoothing type forecasting method, especially the Single Exponential Smoothing (SES) and Double Exponential Smoothing (DES) methods. The results of the study concluded that if analyzed from the MAPE value, the DES method was better with a MAPE value of 77. However, if analyzed from the MAD and MSD values, the SES method was better with a value of 32609 and 2044501652, respectively. Furthermore, analyzing the prediction results of the two methods, it was obtained that for the first four months the DES method showed better results than the SES method. But two months later the SES method was much better.

Abstract

Learners must be accustomed to thinking intelligently, carefully and logisstics which are indispensable in creative thinking. Able to solve more innovative problems without options with monotonous solutions. There is a purpose to describe the creative thinking level of students in solving math stories for clas VII social arithmetic material at SMP N 3 Ranah Pesisir in this study. Quantitative descriptive research is the type of research used. Class VII(1) students became the data source of this research. The data obtained are test of creative thinking skills and written interviews to students. The indicators of creative thinking according to Siswono are fluency, flexibility and novelty. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the creative of students in solving math story problems was classified as moderate with an average test results of 63,94. Students are at the very creative level as many as3 students (11,54%), creative as many as 16 students (61,54%), quite creative as many as 2 students (7,69%), and less creative 5 students (19,23%). The average provider per indicator, namely the fluency indicator with an average test result of 62,5 including the medium category, the flexibility indicator with an average test result of 64,42 including the medium category, the novelty indicator with an average test results of 64,9 included in the medium category.

Abstract

Factors that affect students' mathematics learning outcomes include the lack of student interest in mathematics. Learning that does not have meaning and the teacher's teaching methods are still less diverse, causing a lack of student interest in learning mathematics. One of the meaningful learning is when students can make their own notes from their understanding while studying. This study aims to determine the differences in mathematics learning outcomes of students who are taught using the mind map method and students who are taught with the concept map method. This research was conducted at a private senior high school in Medan. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research design using randomize pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling by taking two experimental classes in class X high school. The instrument used to determine student learning outcomes on exponent material is a test in the form of an objective test of 15 items that have been declared valid and reliable. The results showed that the average student learning outcomes taught using the mind map method were higher than those taught with the concept map. From the results of this study teachers are expected to use the mind map method to improve student mathematics learning.

Abstract

The mathematics problem solving ability has an important role in mathematics learning process.  One of factors influencing mathematics problem solving ability is learning independence.  This research aimed at analyzing student mathematics problem solving ability viewed from learning independence that was focused on linear equation system two variables material.  The methods of collecting the data were test for mathematics problem solving ability, questionnaire for students learning independence, and interview. The findings of this research showed that the student high learning independence category owned the lowest ability in crosscheck the solution.  The student medium learning independence category owned the lowest ability in preparing strategies and crosscheck.  The student low learning independence category owned the lowest ability in preparing strategies, carrying out the strategies and crosscheck.  The implication of this research was expected for teacher to accustom students to crosscheck every problem solving step given to SPLDV questions in learning process.  Teacher was expected to use an approach that is able to increase student learning independence.

Abstract

From the results of observations at MTsN 10 Padang Pariaman, it is known that students need LKPD that facilitates their mathematical communication skills. The required LKPD needs to be supported by an appropriate learning model. The Group Investigation model was chosen because it fits the characteristics of the problems in MTsN 10 and is suitable for collaboration with LKPD. This study aims to produce LKPD based on the Group Investigation model to improve valid, practical and effective mathematical communication skills. This research is a development research conducted with reference to the first 3 stages of the 4D model with the following stages: (1) define, (2) design, (3) develop. Practical trials were conducted on 12 students of MTsN 10 Padang Pariaman. The results of this study indicate that the developed mathematics worksheets meet the valid criteria with an average value of 84.9%. The developed math worksheets meet the practical criteria with an average score of 87.3% for educators and 84.6% for students. The developed math worksheets also meet the effective criteria with an average score of 88%. The effectiveness of the development of LKPD based on Group investigation is seen based on the completeness of the results of the Mathematical Communication Ability test that came from 12 students. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the development of LKPD based on the Group Investigation model is in the valid, practical, and effective categories so that it is suitable for use in the learning process and can improve students' mathematical communication skills. Educators can consider using this Group Investigation-based LKPD to improve the quality of mathematics learning in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to predict the population of the province of East Nusa Tenggara by applying the Interpolation method. The research method used is the method of literature study and computer programming simulation MATLAB and Exel. Data were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) from 1971, 1980, 1990, 1995, 2000, and 2010. Knowledge of population development each year would be difficult to know if the population census was only conducted once every ten years. Therefore, an alternative mathematics that can be used as a reference for solving the problem of population size each year is numerical forecasting, namely the interpolation method. By using the Lagrange interpolation method, it is found that every year the population increases by an average of 2.107%. The solution expected from this research is the existence of government programs that can reduce the birth rate and reduce the number of transmigrants.

Abstract

There have been some previous studies on graceful vertex labeling have been carried out. This study aims to determine the vertex graceful labeling on (6,8)-graph. (6,8)-graph is a graph that has 6 vertices and 8 edges. In this study, the research is limited to (6,8)-graph which is finitely connected. This design of this research is descriptive qualitative research, in form of literature study and the data analysis technique used is non-statistical data analysis technique. From the results of the study, it was found that among the twenty (6,8)-graphs which are not isomorphic, there are 10 graphs which are vertex graceful labeling, namely J1, J3, J4, J5, J8, J15, J16, J17, J18, and J19.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increasing in Mathematics learning activities using the Make a Match Model in class IX3 MTsN 2 Pasaman year  2018/2019. This research was conducted in class IX3 MTsN 2 Pasaman with 38 students. This research is a classroom action research with four stages, namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The learning model is the Make a Match Model. The results of this study are the increasing in student learning activities. In the first cycle, the average student learning activity was 69.79%. While in the second cycle, the average student activity became 86.45%. Student learning activities increased by 14.66%. With student learning activities caused student learning outcomes to increase. In the first cycle, the average class value was 67.9 with 16 students who completed the study out of 38 people. While in the second cycle, the average grade value increased to 76.3%. The percentage of student learning completeness in cycles I and II increased by 31.91%, from 16 people who completed cycle I to 29 people who completed cycle II. Based on the description above, the Make a Match Model can improve the learning activities of class IX.3 MTsN 2 Pasaman students in the Mathematics subject of Quadratic Equations. The increasing of student learning activities makes student learning outcomes also increasing.

Abstract

Online learning or distance learning is learning that utilizes technology whose teaching materials are sent using an online system. This learning system is an implementation of distance education carried out to try to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This study was conducted to find out what factors affect the effectiveness of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data used is primary data by distributing google forms to students who are respondents at the Faculty of Science and Technology UIN North Sumatra Medan with the response variable is the effectiveness of the online learning system where (1) for effective and (0) for less effective using the probit regression method binary. The predictor variables used were the use of learning strategies, accuracy in mastering behavior, learning curriculum, student motivation, technology literacy and learning evaluation. The amount of data collected is 400 respondents with the results of the study at a significance level of 0.05 that the factors that affect the effectiveness of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic are the use of learning strategies and literacy of technology with a classification accuracy of 91.75%.
