Abstract

The implementation of online learning is a learning model carried out during the pandemic. The application of online learning certainly requires the readiness of various parties, both from the school, office holders, and the students. There are things that must be considered in online learning, including the quality of teacher resources, both in terms of content and methodology as well as in terms of the use of information technology. In addition, students are also less active in participating in this online learning, either due to an unstable internet network or in terms of providing limited internet quota. The purpose of writing this article is to learn and understand the problems in learning activities during the pandemic, namely distance learning through online media so that students can follow it actively and interestingly. Distance learning (PJJ) through online media during the COVID-19 pandemic has led to various responses and changes to the learning system that can affect the learning process and the level of development of students in responding to material.

Abstract

research was motivated by the problem of the low learning outcomes of fourth grade mathematics. This is because mathematics learning is still teacher centered or still dominated by teachers, teachers tend to still teach mathematics in an abstract/symbolic way where the learning method is contrary to the cognitive development of students. This study aims to determine whether there is an increase in mathematics learning outcomes using the Guided Discovery Learning method in fourth grade students of SD 4 Adiwarno. The research was conducted in March-April 2020 in the fourth grade of SD 4 Adiwarno, Mejobo District, Kudus Regency as the research subject. The results of the study showed that the results of learning mathematics in the initial conditions were only 33.33% of students who reached the KKM. There was an increase in the first cycle of learning outcomes to 50% of students and in the second cycle increased to 94.4% of students who reached the KKM. The author suggests elementary school teachers to apply the Guided Discovery Learning method in learning mathematics in order to improve student achievement.

Abstract

Character education is very important in order to shape the character of the nation. Character education can make students become social beings who help each other, are civilized and polite. Teaching and learning activities carried out in Indonesia previously were face-to-face or offline learning. At the time of face-to-face or offline learning, teachers can easily observe the character of students and can provide direction and character education easily. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the change of face-to-face or offline learning to be replaced by online or virtual. For this reason, collaboration and communication between teachers and parents of students to jointly apply character education is very necessary. Teachers can provide good habituation tasks, by implementing PPK (Strengthening Character Education) in online or virtual activities, and parents working with teachers to supervise student activities from home.
